She was at home, at least. Though that was not necessarily a good thing. Home meant being bored, home meant occasionally being fussed over by Capable or Laura. At least, right now, both weren’t home. Laura had class and Capable was at work and Furiosa was happy for the alone time.
Starving, though. And at least she thought she was happy until she realized she was bored. At least Splendid might save the day for one of those.
Splendid was glad she'd texted Furiosa when she had. Being bored, and hungry was never a good combination. So she grabbed Valerian, and his diaper bag before heading out to grab food and coffee. She didn't believe one cup was going to hurt anything, and well, Furiosa had been through a lot.
Splendid wondered what exactly had happened in her dreams, or was what happened a part of it? She didn't know, but she planned on finding out. Juggling everything, she gave a firm knock at the door to Furiosa's place and waited to be called in.
A savior, Furiosa decided. Splendid was a savior. “Coming!”
She couldn’t jog for the door, but at least she was upwardly mobile again. She shuffled to the door and opened it. “Hello, Splendid, and hello to you, Valerian.”
Splendid rolled her eyes. Figured that Furiosa would come to answer the door instead of letting her just let herself in. At least she was feeling better, and that was what really mattered. Splendid just figured that the doctors told her to move around to help her heal, at least, that's what she'd been told from other people before.
"Hello!" She greeted Furiosa with a smile, "I come bearing gifts, and hopefully I can also relieve your boredom." Splendid figured it wouldn't hurt to try, anyway.
Trying (and failing) to not hold her side, Furiosa stepped aside to let her in. She closed the door, and limped back to the couch, where she’d made a nest. On the tv, netflix started playing Bridezilla automatically. Furiosa groaned. “I didn’t ask for that.”
Following after her, Splendid placed everything down, including Valerian's carrier. He was busy sucking on his pacifier, eyes looking around as his little legs kicked. He should be fine, although she might have to feed and change him soon.
Splendid's eyes cut over to the TV and she laughed, "Mhm, sure." She teased, starting to get the food out and laid out on the table. She had brought everything that she promised she would, "And this," she held out the coffee, "will be our little secret." She smiled and then turned to look at the television, "Yeah, this should go. There has to be something better on Netflix."
“I’d never voluntarily watch Bridezilla,” Furiosa insisted, though it sounded like her heart wasn’t in it. She took the coffee and inhaled the scent, before sinking into the couch with a long groan. “You’re a life saver. I won’t tell a living soul.”
Splendid glanced over at Furiosa, with a small smile. There were times that Splendid thought about marriage, although she doubted it would ever happen for her. There weren't many men that she trusted, and it would be hard enough to get into a relationship after everything that had happened. How would she even begin to explain that? "Good, I'd hate for anyone to get mad at me for giving you something that you're not supposed to have." Although, Splendid didn't really think it would hurt her that much. "Alright, do you want the pretzels or burger first?"
Furiosa looked at the food. “... burger first, while it’s hot. Pretzel can be reheated a lot easier.” She’d reheated burgers before, but it meant taking it apart, putting a glass of water in the microwave to keep it from drying out, and hoping the mayo survived.
"Burger it is." Splendid reached forward for the burger containers, handing one off to Furiosa and keeping one for herself. "I swear, if I didn't make it a point to go to the gym I'd be as big as a house by now with as much as I eat." Of course, she still was eating for two due to breastfeeding Valerian. "Did this happen because of your dreams?" She asked, glancing over at Furiosa with a raised brow.
“You need the nutrients,” Furiosa reminded her. Even if a kid would never be in her future, she still knew things. Looking down at her side, Furiosa replied. “Yeah. Got shived during the final plan.”
Splendid nodded, "Oh I know. I just feel like all I do is eat sometimes." She laughed softly and then took a sip of her own coffee while glancing over at Valerian to make sure he was still doing alright. Her gaze returned quickly to Furiosa. "I see. I'm sorry that happened to you. Hopefully everything with the dreams will be over soon enough for all of us." Splendid made a point not to ask about her own future. Regardless of how badly she might want to know, it was probably for the best that she didn't know right now.
It was a future that Furiosa didn’t look forward to Splendid experiencing. It still hurt to think about. Part of her felt like she’d failed her. At least Splendid had gone out on her own term (had saved them all, really) but it didn’t make the thought any better to stomach. And they still had such a long road to go, and much more blood to be spilt. “Soon, I think. At least for me. Assuming I make it.”
"You'll make it." Splendid replied back with a nod, and smile over at her. With everything that Splendid had experienced in the dreams, she knew that if anyone was going to make it? It would be Furiosa and Max at the least. The Wives might not have a snowball's chance in hell, they were tough in their own right, but they had not experienced the world like those two had. "You're too badass not to make it, Furiosa." Her smile turned brighter as she looked over at her friend, although deep in her heart Splendid truly did hope that she would make it out alive.
