Things were certainly getting interesting her Peggy’s personal life and she knew only one woman would fully understand her. Luckily Sharon was available and Peggy was more than happy to help take care of Vivian if it meant an evening of girl talk. There was a lot to go over since Leon had asked her out on a second date and Steve Rogers had made a sudden appearance in her life. It was normally so easy and right now she wasn’t even sure what to do. That’s where Sharon, ice cream, wine, and some terrible telly came in. Peggy’s arms were full with some desserts and wine as she reached the front door and rang the bell.
Sharon had Viv set up in her infant swing while the blonde mother did her chores around the house. She wanted to make sure that the living room was mostly clear of fresh laundry and baby toys for when her cousin came over. In all honesty, Sharon was ready to come back to work. She’d had 10 weeks off so far, and though she was looking forward to her last two weeks of maternity leave, she missed work, too.
Sharon came to the front door and opened it, then grinned at the sight of her cousin with all of those desserts. “Come in! Let me help.” She said, and reached forward to help lighten Peggy’s load.
“Oh, thanks, love,” she commented as she allowed Sharon to take a few items from her arms and stepped into the house. Maybe she had brought too many things with her, but it was going to be a fun night and you could never be too prepared. She kicked the door shut behind her and turned to face her cousin with a grin, “Hi! I brought you a bunch of goodies, obviously. I’m ready for a night of fun and girl talk, what about you?”
“Of course, of course,” Sharon said, moving quickly into the kitchen to set the things down. She turned back to Peggy once her cousin was in and unladen, and gave the other woman a big hug. “Goodies are good! Thank you for bringing them! Hey, I can’t say no to goodies. Forget anything I said about losing the baby weight tonight. We’ll have girl talk.” Sharon didn’t have anything to add to the conversation when it came to girl talk, but she was looking forward to hearing from Peggy about Leon. And Steve.
It wasn’t often that Peggy actually had something to talk about, but there was a lot going on. She chuckled softly at the comment about losing the baby weight and returned the hug. Once that was done she grabbed the items to bring them into the living room. “You look great, Sharon, stop worrying about the baby weight. But I’m also glad that you’re down for this evening. It’s been quite a long time since I had anything interesting to tell you about my personal life. It’s gotten a little….crazy…”
“I want to hear all about it.” Sharon said. She moved with her cousin into the living room to plop down on the sofa, looking forward to having some of those desserts. “Tell me about your date with Leon!”
“Oh gosh, what to say. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, which was kind of silly, but looked good. We went to a restaurant and he yelled at me for a while about the Agency when I told him that I was the Director. Then I offered him the opportunity to come in collaborate with us or come work for us. That quieted him down and we just have a nice evening talking about dreams and things we enjoy doing,” Peggy explained with a smile. It had gone well and she had enjoyed spending time with Leon. She could see why Sharon enjoyed spending time with him.
Sharon grinned when Peggy said Leon had yelled at her about the Agency. Yeah, she totally got that, too. Leon sure liked to yell when things like that came up. And Peggy was smart in suggesting they join forces. That’s a great way to shut him up. “He’s great, though, isn’t he?” Sharon would have liked it if Peggy and Leon were to date. Leon was a great guy--he was always there for her when she needed him. And she was more than willing to forgive his grumpiness because his smile was worth a thousand bucks. “I mean, he’s probably one of my closest friends.”
“He’s a very interesting guy, very nice, and made me laugh. I had a good time with him,” Peggy wasn’t quite sure if she would consider him marriage material right this moment, but the first date had gone well. She was more than happy to go on a second date with him if he asked, “But….now I’ve got a bigger issue with the Star Spangled Man showing up here in the OC.”
Sharon nodded. “Is he… just like he is in the Dreams?” She asked, now more curious than anything. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever met someone in this world after knowing them in the Dreams. Steve would be the first. And it was bound to be very weird.
“He is...I mean, he’s the bigger version that you probably know. He’s not tiny scrawny Steve. He looks exactly the same and he even has that sweet nature about him,” It was incredibly weird to know so much about Steve from the dreams, but not really know him in this world. She was trying to keep them separate, but it was hard, “He’s...wonderful. I’m a little smitten, which is awful.”
“Why is that awful?” Sharon asked, frowning a bit. She remembered the Steve from the Dreams. Of course, he was her assignment, but she was a little smitten with him, too. She couldn’t blame Peggy for having a bit of a crush.
“Because I’ve never had to deal with this. I want to make sure that my feelings are true and not being influenced by the dreams. But, god, he’s gorgeous in real life. You need to see him,” Peggy flushed as she spoke and lifted her hands up to cover her face with a laugh, “I need more wine.”
Sharon beamed at her cousin. “Drink some more wine. And then tell me more! What’s he like? What’s he do for a living? How’d you meet him? All those details.” Sharon leaned forward to pour them each a little more wine. She hadn’t had that much. It wouldn’t get into the breast milk if the baby slept for a while. Right? Right. Whatever.
Oh, she could most certainly give Sharon all the details she could want. The story was embarrassing, but she knew her cousin would only laugh for a little while. It was nice to finally have some good gossip to bring to the table as she accepted the wine and took a long sip before spilling all the details.
