Tink headed home from the garage feeling grimey. She’d left the house this morning practically before the sun, leaving behind a sleeping Anders and cats. It’d been a long, incredibly hot day, and all she wanted was an ice cold, super long shower, with tons of bubbles to wash away the oil from her hair.
She parked her bike next to the car in the drive, and then headed up to the door. It was evening, and the sprinklers were just coming on, so her coveralls got sprayed along the walk. Giving a squeal and a couple of bright curses, Tink rushed the rest of the way up to the front door, then dropped her keys on the mat. It took her a moment of fumbling to pick up the keys and slip one into the lock on the door. She was exhausted from such a long shift.
It hadn’t been the first time Anders had woken up in a woman’s body, which really shouldn’t have seemed as normal as it did. At least this time he had woken up in his own bed, and it seemed as though it was actually his body. He could still use his magic, he could still tell that he was a Grey Warden, and he kind of looked like himself, or what he would have looked like if he was a woman, which, apparently, he was. Being in Peggy’s body for a week had seemed very invasive, and while by the end of the week he had been more comfortable in his skin, he still knew it wasn’t him. Now, that sense of discomfort wasn’t there.
He’d taken the time off of work to organize a few meetings and do some more research, and when Tink came home he was curled up on the couch, nibbling on a stalk of celery spread with peanut butter, with Sir Pounce-A-Lot curled up in his lap. When he heard the key in the door handle, he marked his page and put the book down, and smiled at where Tink would be entering from.
Tink came into the room, finally, and then dropped her keys noisily in the key dish. She kicked off her shoes, too, then gave a groan as her soaked, socked feet could breathe again. The Air Conditioning was a godsend. She was sweating in places she didn’t even know she had today.
“Anders?” She called out, moving further into the house. She lifted her hands to stretch, twining her fingers behind her neck. Her back was aching. “You home?”
“I’m home,” Anders responded, lifting Sir Pounce-A-Lot from his lap and putting the cat back down on the couch, where Sir Pounce-A-Lot stayed curled up if not looking a little confused. Anders got up to meet her.
Tink turned to greet the voice, but stopped. It took a moment for her to realize that the ‘I’m home’ didn’t come from Anders. At least, not any Anders she recognized. Her step hitched and she went wide-eyed at the sight of him.
“Holy shit.” She said. “Anders? Is that you?” Of course, it was easy for Tink, the real-life fairy, to imagine the Orange County fuckassery that would turn her boyfriend into a woman.
“The one and only,” Anders said, and then gave a twirl. “What do you think? I’m pretty hot as a woman, wouldn’t you say?”
“I… wow.” Tink said, gaping at her boyfriend. With girl parts. “That’s just… you’re… I mean, you’re pretty hot, sure, but like… when did this happen?” She asked, sounding absolutely shocked and confused.
“Last night, I assume,” Anders said. “I woke up this way. Looks like I’ve got the next week few days off of work.” At least now he had arguably more important work to do on his days off. He would never neglect his patients, but he had to admit that he was almost a little pleased at the forced days off this time around. “The best part is, I’m fairly sure this is actually my body this time around. I didn’t switch with anyone.”
Yeeeeah, not like Anders could get away with working in a strange body. Some people could, but Anders was a doctor. He had to… present himself. Properly. Or something. “This is… this is what you would look like if you were born a woman?” She was trying to wrap her mind around it. She stepped forward to get a closer look. This required a more thorough inspection. Tink leaned in to look at his jaw, his nose, his eyes, then she brought a hand to touch his shoulder. “...it feels like you.” Only female.
The biggest problem with him going into work like this was that if something went wrong during one of his surgeries, he was very obviously not Dr. Justin Barton, and poor Justine Barton did not have a medical degree or malpractice insurance.
“I guess so,” he said. “It seems I’m cursed to be this good-looking no matter what gender I am.” He winked at her. “What do you say? Okay with having a girlfriend for the next couple of days?”
Tink couldn’t help but break into a grin at the wink, the question. She went a little pink along her cheekbones, and then stepped closer. One hand tentatively came to his waist, the other lifted to rest against the side of his neck. Though, it was her side? Her neck? Whatever, when Tink looked up into the eyes of the Anders in front of her, she could see that it was her Anders. Tink’s. The person she loved.
“I’m okay with it.” She said, her cheeks burning. “Are you?”
Anders placed his hands on Tink’s waist, and then pulled her closer to him. He hadn’t thought Tink would have too much of a problem with it, though it was always hard to know when the Orange County decided to screw with things. “I could think of worse things to be than a woman for a couple of days,” he said, laughing.
Tink wasn’t exactly … she had some attraction to girls. She had experience with them, with one in particular that she cared about a lot, and found the female form quite beautiful. Attractive. The fact that it was Anders inside the beautiful body made it all the more attractive. Made him/her all the more attractive. She let him cuddle her in close against him, and tightened her arms around him. “At least we’re together.” She said, and nuzzled her nose into his cheek. “...How does Justice feel about the new body?” The words came out before she could help it.
Justice was something most people wouldn’t understand, especially people who didn’t use magic and weren’t from his world. Anders didn’t mind answering questions about him, so long as they weren’t accusatory. “Justice is a spirit of the Fade, he cares not for what body he occupies,” Anders said, smiling softly at Tink. “Besides, being in a woman’s body is a touch better than the corpse he had occupied when we first met in the Dreams.”
He moved one of his hands from Tink’s waist, and tilted her face up for a kiss. “So, I’ve heard all these rumours that girls just want to have fun. What kind of fun is there to be had?”
Funny how it was still kissing Anders, even though it was a woman’s lips, a woman’s body. Tink felt how soft this body was in comparison to the strength Anders had before. She didn’t mind it at all. She liked it. “Oh, there are all kinds of things we can do to have fun.” Tink promised. “Where would you like to start?”
It was a little strange to kiss Tink as a woman. His lips seemed softer, and the lack of his usual five o’clock shadow was evident, but that didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy it. “Well, I know what I want to end with,” he said, winking.
As for what was first, Anders wasn’t entirely sure. “Perhaps we could go clothing shopping,” Anders said, grinning. He could get behind wearing something cute and feminine for a few days, though Tink’s clothes were all too small for him.
Tink was far from a fashionista. But she’d never really had close girl friends to go shopping with. She grew up with brothers, and most of her friends were male. Most of them had little interest in clothes. It would be fun to take Anders out and explore what this new, temporary body of his would look like in new clothes.
“That sounds like fun.” Because if Tink could have fun buying clothes with anyone, it would be with Anders. “What time is it? Shops are still open.”
