Where: Mall

Anna was at the mall. Raven had wanted to go tomorrow, and she still would, but she wanted to get a few things for herself. A new swimsuit - mama would just bathe nude but Anna had her modesty to think of.
It'd been a long time since Fluttershy had been out shopping for things for herself. She'd had a really long week that had gone spectacularly badly in so many ways that she just really needed some nice, quiet therapy shopping.
Her hair had, mysteriously, gone an odd pinkish shade overnight one night, and she needed some shirts that went better with the new color. And she thought maybe she'd treat herself to some new girly bath products, too. To that end, she'd been making her way to the bath and body works nearby.
As she walked, she worked on a sketch of a tattoo she was thinking of getting. It was ... well... it was downright naughty, but she just felt naked without that mark there. So involved in perfecting the shape of the butterflies was she, that she bumped straight into someone and ended up dropping the notebook on the floor.
She flailed and instantly whispered a soft, "I'msosorry!"
"Oof!" Anna dropped her bag, which spilled out a skimpy green and yellow bikini. She steadied herself and then reached out to steady Fluttershy, "Easy there, sugar. It's all right. Ah don't think either of us were watchin' where we was goin'."
"Oh that's... that's very kind of you to say," Fluttershy mumbled, while bending over to pick up her notebook and pencil, "But I really should have ... well I was working on this, instead of watching, and that wasn't right at all..."
she trailed off and tucked some hair behind her ear, "You aren't hurt or anything, are you?"
Anna knelt as well, ending up knocking her head into Fluttershy's, "Oof!" The action amused her so much that she laughed, "Ah'm fine... Are ya?"
"Oh no, and... and now I've gone and bonked your head, and ... I'm so sorry, are you alright? I swear I'm such a ditz sometimes," Fluttershy whispered, self deprecatingly. She leaned back on her knees a bit to avoid hitting her head against the other girl's again somehow, while collecting her notebook back together.
"It's so very kind of you not to get angry with me... I'm used to being yelled at."
"Why would anyone yell at such a sweet thing as ya?" Anna wondered aloud, pushing her swimsuit back into her bag and standing. She held out a hand to Fluttershy to help her up.
"Ah can barely hear ya on account of ya voice bein' so low."
The very softspoken girl took Anna's hand and allowed herself to be helped up, before ducking her head a bit, "I don't mean to be a bother at all..."
She tried to raise her voice, with the end result being that she was speaking just above a whisper, but still not at a level most people normally spoke at, "I just don't... really know how to be loud."
"Ya ain't a bother," the southerner declared. She gently reached over, touching Fluttershy's chin and lifting her head. "Ah mean it. Ah'm not bothered. Ah'm glad my friend ain't around, she'd be bothered. Or tryin' to get into ya tight little jeans or somethin'..."
"... oh... oh my," Fluttershy put a hand to her mouth. She'd never heard anyone just go right out and SAY it like that. She blushed a bit pink and almost seemed to match her hair for a moment, before mastering herself.
"I don't... I mean I'm very flattered, and I think I might be a lesbian, too, but I don't even know your friend, so..." She played with one of her sleeves as she spoke, and didn't meet Anna's eyes.
Oh mah gawd this woman is adorkable. LIke a shy little sister that needed protecting. Anna's eyebrows raised up, "Ya might be a lesbian? Either ya are or ya ain't, sugar. Or you're bi. An' all that's fine."
Raven would eat her up. Maybe literally. Or maybe it might temper her. Anna started hatching a plan.
"Well this very ... ..." Fluttershy trailed off at the thought of Carmen, because her feelings surrounding the woman were still very confused. There was a blush to her cheeks again, and she was almost speaking through her hair, that's how low she'd ducked her head, "There was this gorgeous... so gorgeous... bright, beautiful... very energetic, but we weren't really ... I think we weren't good for eachother. But we kissed, and it was nice."
"Ever kiss a man," Anna asked, guiding the nervous woman over to a bench so they could sit. "How did that make ya feel?"
And why was she having this conversation?
"Oh I did, but... well ...I don't think I liked it, but I felt so horrible about it, because he's such a nice man, and you know, everyone else thinks he's cute and he's certainly quite handsome, and... he was very nice and took me to a sweet tomatoes and everything. But, no," Fluttershy shook her head, "But we've decided to be friends. He's really a very nice man."
She didn't even know why she was suddenly having this conversation with a complete stranger. Maybe it would help if they exchanged names, "Oh I'm uhm ... Minerva, but my friends just call me Fluttershy..."
"So ya like the girl-folk then. If ah was interested in somethin' about now ah'd ask ya to introduce me all friendly like," Anna mused, nodding her head. "Ah'm Anna Marie. Ya can just call me Anna."
"Well it's certainly a pleasure to meet you, Anna," Fluttershy floofed her hair back from her face a bit, and then held out her hand to Anna so that they could shake on it, like polite people did.
That was adorable. Anna shook it firmly, "So ya like girls. Raven likes girls. Maybe it won't work out but it never hurts to try, right? Personally ah reckon she's a bit lonely. She ain't got many friends outside of a small circle an' ah'm hopin' she might settle down some."
Fluttershy stared at her for a long moment. She opened her mouth a few times to try and get something out, but randomly, the only sound that she made was a bit of a squeak.
"Ya all right? Minerva?" Anna rapped on Fluttershy's arm lightly, "Ya look like a spooked horse."
The other girl squeaked again as Anna touched her arm, then blinked a few times. She wished sometimes that she did have wings so she could take off at a dash in these situations. Or float up and then hide in a tree.
Why were there no convenient stumps or bushes to hide in?
"Oh I... I just ... are you really suggesting...? I don't even know your friend, and she might not really like me as much as you think, and I certainly don't think ... I mean, if it's all the same to you... that we should be talking about settling down at all..."
"That's what a date is for." Anna gave her a friendly wink, "Findin' out all those things 'bout each other an' jus' seein' how it goes. She'll pick ya up Monday, at eight, sugar."
And like that, Rogue has decided. Her mama was going on a date.
"... Excuse me," Fluttershy whispered, "But don't I ... don't I get a say in this at all?"
She tugged on her own sleeve again, completely uncertain about this entire idea. Especially the date with someone she'd never even seen before. Which was pretty much the entire idea, anyway.
Thinking about that, Anna pulled out her phone and showed her a picture of Raven, "This is her. Ain't she so purty?"
Maybe she'll relent a little and let Fluttershy off the hook. She was just..so adorable.
Fluttershy tilted her head as she looked at the picture, and frowned a bit, "I... I don't know, there's something about her that looks a bit ... uhm ... I'm so sorry ... sinister, in a way..."
"Raven? Nonsense." Anna waved a hand, "She's jus' all sorts of intense. Or maybe..she's kinda sharp. Like a jagged rock that I reckon just needs a little smoothin' is all."
" ... so she's ... kind of sharp and intense... like a jagged pointy rock..." Fluttershy mumbled, while giving Anna a bit of a confused look, like she wasn't sure how that was really that great a sales pitch.
"You're soft an' sweet an ah think ya might help her, ah dunno! Ah just..ah dunno." Anna trailed off, folding her arms in frustration.
"Oh I didn't mean to offend you or... you seem so frustrated, I think you just want your friend to find someone nice, don't you?" Fluttershy frowned. She felt horrible now. That wasn't very kind of her at all!
"... I'll do it, okay, just... the one date, at least, I shouldn't judge a prickly bush ... it might be a rose in there, sometimes someone just needs to be shown some kindness."
"No..no sugar, ah don't want to force ya into somethin' ya don't really want." Anna winced. She realized she was being pushy and she hated being pushy. Especially to such a precious woman as Minerva.
"I think I was being a little judgemental, actually, and that's... well it's horribly unkind of me," Fluttershy nervously tucked some hair behind her ear again.
Anna laughed, "Ah have a hard time seein' ya as judgemental at all, sugar. ya like a sugar cookie, all sweet an' soft."
"I really want to, though, I..." Fluttershy blushed and ducked her head, "I've only been out on one date before, and I think I'm worried that a woman like her wouldn't like me very much, but I'm willing to try..."
"Well if ya want to cause ya want to then ah reckon ya should give it a shot." She gave Fluttershy a smile, "Ya beautiful, an' sweet. Ah don't think ya'll have a problem with her likin' ya."
"There was this woman once who came into my store and... and I thought she was going to eat me," Fluttershy admitted, in an even lower whisper than usual for her, "I hope your friend isn't ... well... I don't want her to get the wrong impression, but I can ... I'm willing to try a date at least, only ..."
She looked around the mall, "I don't know what to wear, do you think ... if that's alright with you, and if it's not too much of a bother, that you could help me pick something out?"
"Uh huh." Anna was having second thoughts. Anna would want to devour this girl. But maybe she'd be willing to not lay it on too thick, if she warned her ahead of time. Minerva was very much a flighty sort.
"Sure! An' ah know her tastes so ah know jus' what'll do wonders an' make her jaw fall right off."
"Well that should be ... I'm not sure I've ever managed that, so that should be... fun?" She smiled a bit, like she was trying to get herself used to the idea, and the idea didn't sound all that unpleasant.
"It'll be fun." Anna grinned at her, "Like playin' dress up when we was little."
"Oh I liked dress up!" Fluttershy exclaimed, which was more like a normal speaking tone to most people. She clapped her hands together a bit, "My mother is a fashion designer, so I got to ... you know, all the fun dress up, she'd design pretty things."
Anna grinned, and put an arm around Fluttershy, "Come on. Lets get ya spruced up. Raven won't know what hit her."
