What: Moving in takes a deadly turn
Rating/Warnings: PG/Vampire bite
Status: Complete!
Anna got up extra early. She wasn’t going to be much help with the hefting of the furniture, anyway. Lexi and Caroline could move those things around with one hand tied behind their backs, so… Anna was mostly in the way. She went to the new place, though, to get things ready. She had some cleaning to do, and setting up of other things…
The doorbell rang. Anna bounced over to see who it was, and her grin brightened at the sight of Stefan standing there. “Hey!” She beamed, and stepped out of the way so he could come in.
There was a pause. Stefan was breathing a little ragged, leaning against the wall next to the door.
“Oh! That’s right… Come on in.” Anna said, and motioned with a swoop of her arm.
Stefan couldn’t help the little smirk that crossed his features. “Thank you, Anna.” He said, softly. Then he stepped through the threshold into the new house to take a look around. Funny that he agreed to live here sight unseen. But he wanted out of Damon’s house enough, and hey, living with Lexi and Caroline was going to be awesome. Anna was just icing on the cake.
The delicious, blood-filled cake.
Stefan turned to Anna. He could smell her from where he was standing, he could hear her heart beating excitedly. She looked delicious. And maybe things were different in the waking world. Maybe he could stop once he started feeding. Maybe he wouldn’t rip her head off. He hoped so, because… he couldn’t…
Anna raised an eyebrow when she saw the look on Stefan’s face. The smile on her own lips slipped off, and she took a half step backward. “Stefan?” She asked, now a little concerned. She knew he was a vampire in the Dreams, but she’d assumed he was like Caroline and Lexi. In control. But this looked like a coil ready to spring.
“Don’t move,” Stefan said to Anna. His pupils dilated in a strange way. “Don’t scream.” Then the veins in a mask around his eyes darkened, his eyes going red, and he rushed forward at super-human speed to bite her neck.
Even though he couldn’t compel Anna--she was on vervain--she was rooted to the spot in horror. A shriek got caught in her throat when his teeth pierced her skin. Her knees buckled, but he was holding her up, drinking her blood.
It was finally moving day! Caroline absolutely loved their new house. It was perfect, and her room was bigger than the one at the condo. Even though they were gaining another roommate she figured Stefan couldn’t be that high maintenence to live with. Plus he was one of her best friends. Now she would be living with three of her best friends. It was safe to say Caroline was more than excited for moving day.
She got to the house not long after Stefan. Caroline jumped out of her car excitedly and headed for the house, the front door was left open. Odd. Then she saw what was happening inside. Stefan was feeding on Anna.
Oh hell no. Caroline tried to run in but couldn’t get through. She ran into an invisible wall and bounced back. Fuck. She needed to be invited in still.
“Stefan!” Caroline yelled from outside the front door. “Let her go!”
Lexi was not only excited about moving into the new house, but also about Stefan moving in with them. Despite being best friends their entire lives, Stefan and Lexi had never lived together. They had talked about it before, but then they had gone to different colleges and while they still could have gotten a place together, it just hadn’t worked out that way. However, now they were getting that chance.
They had all spent the previous few days packing up their stuff and now it was finally move in day. After packing up their separate cars, they had all headed over to the house. As Lexi pulled into the driveway she saw that she was the last one there despite having left at the same time as Caroline. Parking her car behind the other blond’s, Lexi stepped out of the car and was about to pop the trunk to get one of her suitcases when she heard Caroline yelling. Frowning, Lexi ran towards the sound of Caroline’s voice, which with her vampire speed got her there in seconds.
“What’s going…” The scent of blood hit her and turned her attention away from Caroline and into the house instead, “Shit. Stefan! Let her go.” She had been afraid of something like this happening once Stefan turned, but she’d had no idea he was so far into his dreams.
Of course, as soon as the other girls were at the threshold, Stefan noticed the pain. The taste. He started choking, releasing Anna and sputtering. He couldn’t catch his breath, he couldn’t move properly. He was weak, suddenly, and coughing, one hand grabbing at his neck. One word came out, barely, squeezed and choked out while the world seemed to turn against him. “Vervain…” He stumbled back against the wall and slid down to the floor.
Once released, Anna rushed a couple of steps forward. She lifted a hand to her bleeding neck and dropped to her knees. “OhmyGod,” she managed, hand clamped around her bite mark. (Bad puppy?) She remembered a moment later that she had to invite in Caroline and Lexi, considering she was now the owner of the house. “Caroline, come in! Lexi, come in!”
The second Anna invite her in Caroline was at her friend’s side leaving Lexi to deal with Stefan. “Are you okay?” she asked even though the answer to that was pretty obvious. Being a chew toy for a vampire, and a ripper vampire no less, probably wasn’t a great time.
“What the hell Stefan?!” she glared him before biting into her own wrist and holding it out for Anna. “Here, drink!” she knew it wasn’t likely considering Anna hated blood and the last time Anna had been injured Caroline had to trick her to drink the blood, but still it was worth a shot.
As she was invited in, Lexi rushed towards Stefan while Caroline took care of Anna, “What the hell is wrong with you?” She said as she grabbed Stefan’s shirt front and hauled him up, pressing his back into the wall. Technically she hadn’t been a vampire for long, but as a result of the dreams she had all the strength of the three hundred plus year old vampire that she was in the dreams, which meant that she was stronger than Stefan. “We don’t eat our friends!” Lexi hoped that Stefan trying to nom on Anna was simply because he’d just turned and not because he was a Ripper.
“I’m okay,” Anna coughed a little, which made the wound in her neck throb painfully. She had one hand clamped over it, and there was blood all over her shirt, leaking through her fingers. The offered wrist was mostly ignored, though Anna did go a little green around the gills at the thought. “...I’m really okay,” she added, thinking she probably would barf if she drank Caroline’s blood. (No offense, Care.)
Stefan was sputtering and coughing, trying to catch his breath. His eyes were still veiny and red, his mouth dripping with the tainted blood from Anna’s system. When Lexi slammed him up against the wall, he felt shame and fear and… worse… bloodlust. Even with the vervain and the pain… he was still hungry. He wasn’t sure he could control it. “Lexi,” he breathed, his voice low and growling in his throat. “...I’m… I can’t stop…”
Anna certainly didn’t seem okay but Caroline knew better than to try and force her to drink her blood. Hopefully it would stop bleeding soon. She was a little worried though and all the fresh blood was even making her a bit hungry. But of course Caroline manage to keep her vampire instincts and features under control. However, she was worried about Anna being around Stefan at the moment. Even with her blood being tainted with vervain, Stefan was clearly a newly turned vampire and there was no telling what he would do.
“Let’s get you out of here.” With that she picked Anna up and in a blur they were out the door and in her car. Where Caroline would take her she had no idea. She couldn’t exactly take her to a hospital because, vampire attack. Maybe her mom’s place.
