Caleb was used to working when and where he wanted to. Making his own hours, working from his laptop. Now that he was in an office he took lots of breaks, something most people at Stark didn’t seem to care about it, he still managed to get all his work done each day. However there was one person that was always on his case.
Gwen.
Caleb was just getting back from one of his infamous breaks and of course Gwen was there waiting for him. “Can I help you?” he asked his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Gwen had been by the new fella’s desk three times today. Three times. And the kid hadn’t been around. Why was it that he was never here? She’d put together this fantastic desk for him, this office, even, and he wasn’t even using it. Gwen plopped down into the chair behind his desk and leaned back, drumming her fingers on the arms. Then she pulled out her cell phone to fiddle with it--
And that’s when Caleb came back in. She waited a moment, finishing this last level of whatever silly facebook game she was playing, and then turned to look up at him. She feigned surprise. “Why, if it isn’t Caleb Rivers! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you in your office before.”
“Gwen Stacy,” he replied a bit of a smirk forming on his face. This girl probably spent more time in his office than he did. As annoying as it got, particularly with her always riding his ass, it was also a bit amusing - especially with how frustrated she got.
“What a surprise to see you here,” only it wasn’t. “Keeping my seat warm for me?” he asked since she was still sitting in his desk chair.
“Well, I would be,” Gwen said, slowly rising from the chair. She left the soft leather behind nice and warm for him, “if I thought you would ever actually sit in it.”
She moved around the desk, taking in his appearance. He needed to comb his hair. “How are you doing with your TPS Reports?”
“Maybe if you weren’t always in it.,” he began but decided not to get in this argument. As amusing as it was he didn’t want to constantly be on bad terms with one of his bosses.
“Nice try,” Caleb replied with a smirk. “Why don’t you try assigning that to some of the interns?”
Gwen simply rolled her eyes. There was a hint of amusement there, though she was more irritated than anything else. The guy needed to learn how to sit in his damn office. It might have been find to fly solo as a hacker, but he worked in an group environment now.
“Maybe I will. Maybe they’ll get some actual work done around here. She headed to the door. “Answer your emails.”
“Yes ma’am,” Caleb replied giving her a little salute and everything, but there was a huge smirk on his face. With that he plopped down in his chair and got to work.
