The last couple of days had not been good ones. Lexi had heard of women who lived together or spent a lot of time together syncing up with PMS, but it wasn’t as if her or Caroline actually had to deal with PMS these days so that meant that someone was just being bitchy, which Lexi assumed was Caroline, because Lexi was rarely ever in a bad mood unless someone else brought it out in her and right now she was annoyed that Caroline and Anna were talking about buying a house. A house that neither of them had thought to ask her to come along to see. It was always Caroline and Anna and Lexi got left behind.
Both Anna and Lexi were getting on Caroline’s nerves lately. Actually a lot of people were getting on her nerves lately. It was weird. But whatever, she didn’t have to be cheerful Caroline all the fucking time. It wasn’t like Lexi or Anna were all that pleasant to be around lately either. Anna had tried to pick a fight and even shove her. Like she could shove a vampire. It was pathetic really. Right now Caroline was enjoying a nice warmed up mug full of blood and she did not like the way Lexi was looking at her. “What?” she snapped at the blonde. Couldn’t a vampire drink in peace?
Lexi had known that she should have hung out in her room or gone somewhere else when she’d gotten home from work, but she’d decided to spend some time in the living room and read a magazine. Or, she’d been trying to read a magazine, but Caroline’s blood slurping was getting on her nerves, “Do you have to be such a noisy drinker?” She asked, slapping the magazine down on her lap.
Caroline just rolled her eyes. “You’re the one slapping around your lame magazine,” she replied this taking a purposefully loud slurp from the mug. She felt a little bad about it, but whatever. Lexi was being pretty bitchy. “Maybe you need to eat something,” or in their case drink but whatever close enough.
“I already ate this morning. Unlike some vampires, I don’t need to constantly be stuffing my face.” Lexi picked up the magazine and flipped to the next page, doing her best to ignore Caroline. She thought she knew so much about being a vampire, but in the dreams Lexi had been one for a lot longer and knew a lot more and didn’t need to hear it from someone who had only been a vampire for a year or so in the dreams.
Lexi always thought she was so fucking superior because she was a vampire longer in the damn dreams. Big fucking deal. Caroline had been one longer here and had adjusted just fine. Not to mention how easily she had adjusted in the dreams. “Explains why you are being such a bitch,” Caroline muttered under her breath trying her best not to let her annoyance with Lexi flipping through pages get to her again.
“Now you’re just not making any sense.” Honestly, sometimes Caroline could be so stupid. “But if you keep slurping that blood, I’m going to shove that mug down your throat.” She glanced at Caroline over the top of her magazine before dropping her eyes back to the article she had been reading.
Anna arrived home. She’d actually had a pleasant day so far--she’d been avoiding all her friends and family because they were irritating the shit out of her, so she’d gone out of her way to a cafe where she didn’t know anyone, read a book, had lunch, it was wonderful. Now she was back home and had been dreading this the whole drive. She opened the front door and stepped through, only to the smell of warm blood and the sound of Lexi’s grumbling. She groaned.
“Some days I hate living with vampires,” Anna muttered, and slammed the front door behind her.
Great now Anna was home. This was just going to be a blast. Why exactly did she want roommates again? She have just compelled herself her own place. In fact maybe she should do that instead of moving into a house with them, and Stefan. “You aren’t all that fun to live with either,” Caroline replied grumpily. “Either of you,” she added snapping at Lexi again. She took one last final sip of her blood with another purposely loud slurp and then got up, leaving her empty bloody mug in the sink.
“Because either of you are so easy to live with?” Lexi said, glancing at Anna, “So, was everything sunshine and puppies today?” Anna’s constant happiness rivaled even Lexi’s bubbly personality, but it got on her nerves how it seemed like barely anything phased her, “And would you wash that out? I don’t want all the mugs bloodstained.” She called after Caroline.
“What’s with the third degree? Yes, everything’s fine. Mother. Jeez.” Anna said, hanging her sweater up by the door after stepping through. She didn’t need one in the summer heat, but if she ended up at a movie or something, she liked to have it around. Air Conditioning was nice, but did it have to be twenty degrees cold? Whatever. She glanced at the blondes each in turn, and realized there were too many of those in her life. “I’ll be in my room. Unless you have more questions for me.” But she didn’t stop to wait for a response. Anna stomped down the hallway to her bedroom to lock herself away from the blondes.
Normally Caroline was all about cleanliness but today she didn’t feel like rinsing her mug out. If only to annoy Lexi more. She didn’t exactly want to be around Anna’s cheery attitude either. “I don’t really care,” Caroline replied to the both of them. She didn’t care what Lexi wanted with the mug or what Anna was up to. “I’m out of here. Have a nice night. Or not,” with that she left the condo slamming the front door behind her.
“Gonna go barricade yourself in your room? Didn’t you sister do that already?” Lexi put her magazine down and headed into the kitchen. Caroline might not have cared about bloodstained mugs, but Lexi was pretty sure that if they had human company over, they wouldn’t be too thrilled. Then again, she could always just taken the mug and put it in Caroline’s bed as it was. Now there was an idea.
