Kitty lay on the couch, upside down with her head touching the floor and her feet hanging over the back. She was, in a word, bored, and nothing seemed to alleviate her boredom. She was tempted to actually work from home for a lack of things to do. But then, being bored was kind of nice once in awhile. Still.
She sighed, heavily.
Gaz had indeed gone base jumping on her own, and she came in through the door with windblown hair and a grin. Seeing her girlfriend look bored made the grin dissolve, and she moved to flop down on top of Kitty.
Kitty let Gaz flop on top of her, wrapping her arms around whatever body part presented itself. “Have fun?” Was she jealous? She was a little jealous, but she had decided that base jumping on an upset stomach would have been a bad idea. Just her luck her stomach had settled just a little too late to go.
“Eh. It was a nice view.” Gaz had taken some photos for inspiration, but would show Kitty later. “You’re upset. What’s wrong?”
“Bored. I don’t like it when I’m bored. It feels like something is gonna happen, and I’m probably not going to like it. Been kind of on edge all day.”
“Shit’ll hit the fan with or without you, though.” Gaz snuggled into Kitty, burrowing into her neck. “But I get it. Wanna do something distracting?”
Kitty grunted. “Like what? Got any ideas, Einstein?”
“Could paint our bedroom.” Gaz liked saying it - she just liked knowing that Kitty was going to move in, period.
“Maybe…” Kitty moved her head to look at Gaz. She liked to hear that. Moving in was a huge step but it was also the easiest one. She slid her hand into Gaz’s hair and stole a kiss. Gaz’s snuggly side was one of those pleasant things she really liked. She knew Gaz had had one, even before, but now it seemed to really come out. “We could go crazy and just throw paint at the wall.”
Gaz chuckled. “That would be awesome, actually.” It was one thing to have one night stands, but Gaz was really only snuggly with people who got her. Gaz was kind of like a lion - she’d purr for people she trusted, but everyone else was going to get their head bit off. Possibly literally, depending on her day.
“I’ve got tarps if you wanna.”
Kitty grinned, and disentangled herself from her girlfriend. “Yeah, lets do that, a little creative destruction is always fun!” She waggled her eyebrows. “We could do it naked.”
“Paint does come off of skin easier than clothes. I paint naked a lot.” Gaz got the innuendo, but she didn’t know how to waggle her eyebrows.
Without waiting another moment, Kitty phased her clothing off and planted a hand on a cocked hip. “What are you waiting for, doomsday?”
“You never know,” Gaz grinned. “Here, that shit could happen tomorrow.” She tugged off her own jeans, tossing them onto the sofa. “Any color preference?”
“Blue, purple. Cooler, calming colors. Then we can throw a dash of red in to brighten it up.” Kitty watched Gaz undress, smiling to herself because Gaz was hot. And while Kitty was generally always on, something about Gaz always put her switch into overdrive. She liked being allowed to look. Not that Gaz ever said she couldn’t, but when she thought Gaz wasn’t interested like that it was just rude to stare.
Gaz was pretty much always interested like that, it was just that she didn’t emote it the same as other people. Or at all. “I’ve got all of those colors,” she said, moving to where she kept her supplies.
Kitty thwapped Gaz on the rear end as she passed. “This is kind of exciting. And fun.” Why? Why was it fun? She didn’t care.
Gaz found blue, purple, and red cans of paint and brushes for splatting. “Is it?” She looked at Kitty, amused that she was so happy.
“Yeah. Making a mess and having it not be something to clean up. Well, beyond cleaning ourselves up.” Kitty gestured at the wall. “Everything is always so destructive. Creating is nice.”
“Maybe that’s why I do it.” Gaz moved around to put tarps over things she didn’t want to get paint on like the floor and her bed. “Paint. I’m kind of a fan of doom and destruction, but dunno. It’s not the best thing every time.”
“Who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend?” Kitty asked, placing a hand over her chest in mock distress. She moved to open the paint, and when Gaz wasn’t looking flicked a purple paintbrush across one of her butt cheeks.
Gaz noticed the paint but ignored it to spur Kitty on to do more. “Come on. I have to wait sometimes so people can make more stuff for me to destroy. Obviously.” She dipped a finger into blue paint, booping Kitty on the nose with it.
Kitty rubbed her nose, which only smeared the paint around. She looked at the blue paint on her finger then drew a smiley face on Gaz’s shoulder. “What’s your favorite thing to destroy?”
“Bad paintings,” Gaz grinned. She tried to look at her own shoulder and ended up going in a circle for a second. “Those things gotta go.”
“Bad paintings or smiley faces?” Kitty caught Gaz’s hand and pulled her close, spinning them both around like they were half dancing.
“Bad paintings.” Gaz smiled up at Kitty, tiptoeing to kiss her chin. “I like smiley faces on you. Or on me, in this case.” Smiling around other people was hard, but with Kate, it seemed easy.
“I love you.” Beaming, Kitty slid her hands down Gaz’s back. It was still scary to say those words. At any moment they could be taken away, or something. But she meant them.
Gaz smiled and ran her fingers through Kitty’s hair. “I love you too, Kate. I hope you know that.” She wanted Kitty to really feel that without having to be told; actions had always been more important to Gaz than words.
“I do.” They didn’t always have to say, but sometimes it was nice to hear it. For now, Kitty decided she’d show Gaz too.
Hopefully painting got done at some point.
