Caroline knocked on the door to Lexi’s bedroom, bloodbag in one hand Lexi’s gift in the other. “I just got back and you are already hiding out in your room? I thought you missed me,” she teased through the door before deciding to just open it yourself. “I really hope you’re decent,” she added as she walked into the room a smile plastered on her face. She wasn’t actually happy but she was doing her best to fake it. Get back to the Caroline she used to be, before Klaus.
Lexi had just gotten home from work not too long before she heard the knock at the door accompanied by Caroline’s voice and she laughed as the door began opening, “I’m hiding from you obviously. Did you actually think I wanted to see you?” She smirked as Caroline came into the room, “So welcome back. You were gone so long that I almost forgot what you looked like.”
“Well, duh. How could you not want to see me?” she laughed. “I’m still as cute as ever,” she teased making her way further into Lexi’s bedroom. She handed over the gift bag which contained three items a Disneyland Paris mug, a Rapunzel snowglobe, and an Aurora snowglobe. “Merry Christmas,” she teased.
“Oooh, presents.” Lexi grinned as she took the gift bag from Caroline and sat back down on her bed to go through it, “Well, having presents helps in wanting to see you.” Lexi teased, smirking as she unwrapped the gifts from the paper they were wrapped in, “I love them, Care. Thank you.” Getting up, she moved to give her friend a hug, “So how different was Disneyland Paris from the Land here?” Lexi planned to visit the other Disney parks at some point and honestly, now that she was a vampire, she had all the time in the world.
“Hah, hah, you’re so funny,” Caroline replied rolling her eyes dramatically. After returning her friends hug she plopped down on the bed with Lexi. “It wasn’t that different. They spoke a lot of French,” that was the main difference, obviously. “How have things been here? I heard there was some crazy storm? That does not sound fun. I’m glad I was out of town for that. I needed a break from all the crazy.”
“Well, speaking french in France is a common occurrence.” Lexi grinned and leaned back against her pillows near the headboard, folding her legs up beneath her, “Yeah, had some crazy OC crazypants storm. It definitely was not like a regular storm.” Lexi ran her fingers through her long blond hair, “The sky went all dark for a couple days and there was ran, thunder, lightning and like bursts of electricity. You, Anna and Buffy are lucky to have been away from it.”
“No way!” Caroline joked. “It’s too bad I couldn’t compel them to speak English. I wish compulsion worked like that. Next time I go I’ll have to do some Rosetta Stone or something before hand.” But she would definitely be going back. For longer next time too. She had plenty of time though, eternity really. She could see the whole world, and she planned on it.
“Yeah definitely glad I missed that. Looks like I picked the right time to go to Europe. I’m sorry you guys were stuck in all that though. It doesn’t sound fun. OC has such weird weather. Last summer it snowed, this summer weird storm. But I guess that’s not the strangest thing that has happened in this place.”
Lexi laughed and nodded, “Yeah. Who would have thought it.” Lexi was going to have to start making plans for an overseas vacation. Perhaps she could even convince Stefan to go along with her. “So, what did you do for food over there?” Lexi didn’t think that blood bags were TSA approved for carry on or checked luggage and as far as she knew Caroline didn’t feed off people and they hadn’t talked about what Caroline was going to do before she left. Sometimes Lexi forgot they weren’t just regular girls anymore.
“I brought my cup,” she had her regular one and also a travel thermos. As long as she kept a few drops of blood in there it always stayed full. “I had to compel the security check people to let it through with my luggage, but it worked out. Otherwise I don’t know I probably would have stolen from a hospital.” Caroline didn’t feed on people, not even as a snack and then compelling them to forget. It just didn’t seem right to her. The last thing she ever wanted to do was hurt someone. Of course she had a few slip ups when she was a newly turned vampire, biting a few of her friends and her ex boyfriend. But she corrected herself right away, never feeding enough to really hurt anyone.
Lexi couldn’t help but make a face at the mention of the cup. She knew that Damon had gone around getting some magic user to make a bunch of magical cups that filled with blood and personally she thought that was a cop out and the wrong way to learn control. Sure it was useful in this instance for Caroline, but how was a newbie vamp supposed to learn control if they had a magic cup that could constantly refill with blood? It wasn’t how things had worked in their dreams so she didn’t think it was the way they should be doing things in the waking world, “Well that’s good that you didn’t decide to snack on any Europeans.”
Damon didn’t have much to do with Caroline getting her cup. She had met the guy on her own. Damon had vouched for him, but her friendship with Sev had gone way beyond that. She didn’t see the problem with using the cup. Of course she used blood bags too, but at least with the cup she wasn’t taking blood from someone that might actually need it. For a transfusion or whatever. “Definitely not. Snacking on people isn’t my style. How have you been doing with everything? Since you turned?” They hadn’t talked about that much either. Considering she had been gone when it happened and then all the drama with her ex.
It was logical that they wouldn’t agree on everything when it came to being a vampire cause they would have different influences as a result of the dreams. Lexi was much older than Caroline in the dreams and had been turned by Elijah so she had better control when it came to her bloodlust whereas Caroline hadn’t had the easiest time when she’d transitioned. “I’ve been good. Got my daylight jewelry,” She held up her left hand where one of the bracelets that Merlin had made for her was amongst a few other regular bracelets. “And I’ve got a stock of blood, so I’m good.” In the dreams Lexi drank from blood bags so she really didn’t have any qualms about doing it in the waking world.
“That’s good,” Caroline replied she still felt a little guilty for not being there for Lexi when she turned. But she seemed to have transitioned well. It really wasn’t all that difficult once you got used to it. It only took Caroline about a month for the urge to feed on every person that walked by to go away. “You know, I really thought I was going to hate this whole being a vampire thing, but I kind of love it.” The perks definitely outweighed the downfalls.
Leix nodded, smirking, “I know what you mean. I was worried mostly cause you all were gonna get daylight rings from your dreams and I would have been stuck being all hermity during the day, but luckily I ran into a Wizard.” And there was the part where Damon could stake her at any time if he decided to, but really nothing had been stopping him from killing her when she wasn’t a vampire. Now though at least she’d be on her toes and could defend herself if she needed to.
“That would have sucked. And not in the yummy way,” not that they really sucked in the yummy way unless you counted from a blood bag, but Lexi got the point. “It’s pretty great how many more options we have here. I’m glad I live in this world. Not Mystic Falls.” That place seemed pretty damn horrible from everything Caroline had dreamed. “Even after the crazy few months I’ve had. I don’t think I’d trade my life for anything.”
“I agree. I mean there, Damon killed me so I only show up all ghosty when the veil between the real world and the other side thins. It’s not really fun watching everything and not getting to participate.” Lexi smirked a little as she recalled her conversation with Stefan, in the last dream she’d had, about Caroline. It amused her how much of a shipper Dream!Lexi was.
