Integra was healing. Slowly, and she was getting annoyed with things, but she was healing and she had to admit it felt good to know she was doing okay. She was up and moving finally and was sitting in the room she’d had turned into her office. She was still down an arm, and was only using one for now, but that hadn’t stopped her from digging into the family business papers and learning things.
She was working again, since she couldn’t train anymore, at least not for some time, she was throwing herself into this work and sulking in her own way. She still felt stupid for getting hurt in the first place. She had stored the Dream’s new gifts in her desk drawer, a pair of guns. She didn’t really need them, Integra prefered to let Alucard protect her, but they were interesting things.
Alucard much preferred protecting her as well, even though he knew she was capable herself. It gave him a channel for his protectiveness, a more productive channel than being her unnoticed shadow as he had been for a long time. Which had been the point since he couldn’t be her bodyguard if it was too obvious that was what he was there to do.
Entering her office he smiled, watching her work on the family business was a mix of pride and worry but pride tended to win currently. “Having fun my love?” he drawled as he silently moved closer.
“Does no one understand keeping paperwork organized?” she said as she looked up at him. Her glasses were neatly perched on her nose, blue eyes staring out at him. She was certainly embracing her nature today as she is sitting stiff and has even managed to wiggle into a suit. Well modified of course.
“The legitimate papers are out of order, the stupid cryptic notes on the other side are just all over the place.” she gave him a look, she wasn’t entirely sure why she was so cranky, but she was and it was driving her nuts she couldn’t do what she wanted.
Alucard simply smiled and waved his hand, “It’s in some kind of order” he said, offhand, in all honesty paperwork wasn’t the part of the job he’d signed up for so he didn’t overly take notice of it. It was somewhat ordered, enough for him anyway.
“There is a key for the notes” he informed her, “Would you like me to buy you some filing cabinets dearest?” he smirked a little.
“Yes yes order for you who doesn’t really look at these kinds of things. Honestly chaos is not an order. It’s a mess.” Integra gritted her teeth a bit, nails of her good hand drumming on the desktop as she looked at him. “Of course there is a key. The papers themselves look like a tornado dropped them in a cabinet.”
She looked sharply at him and frowned. “Don’t tease my dear. I’m in no mood for it.” which was almost daring him to keep teasing. “How does anything get done here without things either falling apart or getting caught?” she snapped.
“Organised chaos, that’s a saying isn’t it? Maybe call it that and you’ll be happier” Alucard advised her, because Alucard was never one to back down even when he could tell she wasn’t in a good mood. In fact it simply urged him on, she was incredibly attractive when she was angry.
“How did we survive all these years without you to organise us?” Alucard said, pretending to think aloud, “Who knows? Thank goodness you’re rescuing us now. Who knows what could have happened?” Teasing her was an addiction Alucard couldn’t get rid of.
“That is not going to make me any happier, Alucard.” Even injured she was still feisty, she’d given up taking the pain killers and had compartmentalized the pain in her head so she could get through a day without it distracting her, but it left her a smidge grumpy. She sniffed at him, annoyed.
“Don’t patronize me, Alucard.” she snapped, her annoyance level rising and her anger coming to the surface. While Dream her had some extra patience from dealing with him forever and a year, this Integra still wasn’t there yet and she was easily pushed into a temper. “It’s not funny in the least.”
Alucard knew she wasn’t taken her pain medication so while part of him felt sorry for her another part felt that she wouldn’t be so moody if she was taking them. This was his way of encouraging her. That and he just loved her when she got so feisty.
“I wouldn’t dream of it my dear Integra” Alucard said in a rather patronising voice, because Alucard was a bull and Integra had just waved a red flag.
The tapping of her nails stopped and she shifted her weight in her chair and let her hand fall to the drawer. “Are you trying to get yourself shot or something by patronising me?” she said in an icy tone of voice. She couldn’t really threaten to punch him, she’d hurt herself doing it. The sword was in another room.
And she was growing more annoyed with him by the minute. Sometimes he could just be so damn insufferable that she was losing her temper. Head tilting a bit as she stared at him, fingers itching at the drawer, she was trying to be good but the more he teased, the less patience she had.
Alucard laughed then, “Is that how it works? Perhaps you aren’t the best person to be in charge. We may run out of employees if you start thinking they’re all patronising you. There’s only a certain number of bodies I can take care of you know” he was grinning the entire time. He could hear her heartbeat and the blood rushing in her veins, it was intoxicating.
Him laughing made her tense up. It was almost too much for her. She couldn’t help but be annoyed at him. He was grating on that last nerve. “You can truly be insufferable, you know.” fingers twitched and the drawer slid open. A flash of a memory, of a dream, and she had the gun in her hand. It felt almost comfortable. “Enough, if you’re not going to be of help, get out of my face.” she was sorely tempted to shoot him. She knew he was capable of just about anything.
Alucard found it absolutely fascinating to watch her as she got increasingly more annoyed with him, it was truly remarkable. “Yet you manage to suffer me wonderfully” his broad smile appeared, “I rather like it in here, perhaps I’ll stay. Watch the paperwork master file things correctly”
Anger gave Integra an edge - sharper voice, eyes that turn icy and far more control over herself than anything else. She lifted her hand and pointed the gun at him. It felt so much like a dream that it was almost hard to believe she was that annoyed with him. She wasn’t too worried, he seemed to be a lot like the Alucard in her dreams. Shooting him shouldn’t hurt too much. “Why must you frustrate me?!”
“Frustrate you? Is that what I’m doing?” Alucard asked her, levelling an almost daring look at her down the barrel of the gun. He found it rather arousing that she was threatening him with the icy look she often had in the dreams.
"I will shoot you, Alucard." That same, level but sharp tone of voice. She'd give him one chance to end the patronising tone and commentary. Only one, but he was staring her down and even that was grating on her nerves. "You're being insufferable."
“Insufferable and frustrating? My goodness that sounds terrible” Alucard replied, she should know by now he wouldn’t back down. He wasn’t sure if he thought she wouldn’t shoot him or if he thought she would but either way he was tempting her.
She gave him a look, as frosty as possible before pulling the trigger. Breath held as she did so, because while she thought he would be fine, there was always that moment of worry that he would not be.
Alucard thought he’d be fine too but he went down with the bullet and remained on the ground. It was an interesting experience, being shot. It hadn’t hurt as much as he’d expected and while he was fine he was mostly staying on the ground with his eyes closed and very still in order to see how Integra would react.
Integra got up and walked around the desk, kneeling down to look at him. The gun still in her hand, but she actually poked him with it. “Come on now, I know you’re fine. Get up.” she said, the tone still icy. She wasn’t terribly worried just yet. “Alucard.” she snapped at him. Yep still angry.
Now if Alucard was sensible he’d have reacted then and gotten up but as it was he remained still and lifeless. She’d probably end up shooting him again, but now that he knew he truly was as he was in the dreams he kind of liked that idea. He was nothing if not a masochist. At least when it came to Integra, meaning he simply lay there.
Integra tapped her foot in annoyance, and poked him again with the barrel of the gun. Alucard was making her nervous. It was going to get him shot again afterwards. But for now she was worried and her tone belied that fact. “Alucard?” She leaned down to kiss his forehead, ignoring her shoulder yelling at her. “Don’t scare me, get up.” she demanded.
As soon as he heard the worry in her tone and kiss to his head he knew she would find a way to actually kill him if he kept it up. Opening his eyes he grinned and kissed her soundly, “Regretting shooting me yet?” he asked her cheekily.
She rested the barrel on his collarbone as he kissed her, she returned it before pulling the trigger. “You are a git, you know that right?” she sat back on her heels and glowered at him. “Not in the least, by the by, you can be so terribly grating sometimes.” but there was a hint of a smile on her lips. She felt good, which was weird in her head, after shooting him. Like some kind of dream fulfillment.
Alucard moaned a little as she shot him once more, “Careful now you may run out of bullets” he told her with a smile in response to the hint of one on her own lips. It was strange, almost like a term of foreplay or endearment for them both. And they both knew it.
Integra sat back on her heels, and sighed at him. She laid her gun aside and gave him a look. “I’ll keep shooting until I’m out, love.” she smiled at him, it was still a little icy, and he could tell she was pretty pissed off under it all. She couldn’t help it, though, it really was a strange form of foreplay for them. “Well, it’s nice to know I can shoot you and you’ll be fine.” In one smooth, fast, motion she plucked the gun up and shot him again. “Don’t you fucking scare me like that again.”
“Mmm that’s my girl” Alucard told her with an approving nod, he did detect the ice underneath it all though. And he wondered if there was something more to it. He’d find out he was sure. “Scare you?” he chuckled, body rippling as it readjusted itself, “I thought you said you knew I was fine” he pointed out.
“There’s always a risk that I am wrong. I was scared that I had been wrong.” she couldn’t help but watch as his body readjusted itself. It was creepy but amazing all at the same time. “Don’t start.” she snarled at him, not willing to be teased again as she sat on her heels and stared. She was still mad at him. But she couldn’t help the feeling that she really, really wanted him at the same time.
“Rather unlikely hmm? You being wrong” Alucard smirked, before moving quickly and taking her gun from her, “Wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself by being too enthusiastic” he said before maneuvering them so that she was lying on the floor, being careful of her arm as he did so. Moving over her he smiled, “Don’t start or what? Without your gun what will you do?” he asked before leaning in to kiss her neck.
She made an unhappy noise when he took her gun from her. Integra groaned as he laid her on the floor. Her shoulder and arm attempted to protest. She practically melted as he moved over her, she wanted him more than she had in a long time, and that was saying something considering how much she loved him. She couldn't do anything from this angle, not with her arm and shoulder like this. She let out a soft moan of pleasure as he kissed her neck. "Give in to your charms, I think, is what's called for."
"Perfect" Alucard told her, "Right answer" he began to work on removing her clothing, thoroughly kissing her skin as it was revealed to him. Though not taking as much time as they usually would, they were both on edge and needed release quickly. This was not the time for love making.
Integra squirmed out of her clothes as best as she could, fingers of her good hand tugging at his. She didn't care about being slow, or anything. She just wanted him. Her shoulder prevented her from moving like she wanted to, a whine coming from her as she tried to. She loved the feeling of his lips on her skin.
Alucard quickly rid them both of clothing as Integra became more wanton which in turn made him want her more. He slid a hand down her body to her core while his lips and tongue played with her breasts, suckling and teasing her to a frenzy.
