Who: Veronica Mars and Kate Bishop
When: Early August
Where: The Archery Range
What: Planning session for Kate's Self Defense Seminar
Rating/Warnings: Low/None
Status: Complete

Kate invited Veronica over to the Archery Range so they could chat in a professional setting about the seminar. She had a lot of great ideas, and was hoping to run then by her friend. She'd done some research into what certifications she'd need to run a proper course, and she was mostly finished with her own, personal preparations. Now she just needed to plan the class.

She finished with her last lesson of the day, then tidied while she waited for Veronica to arrive.

Veronica still wasn’t getting the best sleep. Strangely enough it wasn’t due to the dreams, but due to the fact that there was a newborn in her apartment. She already loved Viv, but she missed her beauty sleep. Staying at Logan’s helped, but the point was Veronica was still exhausted the majority of the time.

She walked into the Archery Range with bags under her eyes, stifling a yawn. “Hey,” she greeted Kate trying her best to sound as awake and alert as possible.

“Hey!” Kate turned to smile over at the other woman, but noticed the ...darkness?... that was over Veronica. Like a black cloud. She raised an eyebrow. “You all right?” Veronica looked… tired. Or sad? No, mostly tired.

Kate finished up with the closet she’d been putting supplies into, and closed the door. Then Veronica had her full attention.

Well at least Kate didn’t say she looked like shit. That was a step up. “Yeah, I’m good. Just tired,” that was an understatement. Seriously, how was Sharon going to do this for the next eighteen years? “But not too tired to help plan your workshop,” she added with a bit more enthusiasm. “So let’s get to it.”

“All right. So long as you’re not… sick, or something.” Kate said. She motioned for Veronica to follow her to the break room. It was quite comfortable in there, with a long table and some vending machines. The chairs were all padded and the room had been updated fairly recently. It was clean, too.

“I have some ideas in this binder here. I figure with all the gals we’ve got involved, each can focus on her specialty. We can give each woman ten minutes to explain and describe, and then give the attendees time to practice the new skill.”

“Not sick. Promise.” Veronica assured following Kate into the break room. She took a seat in one of the padded chairs. “Let me see,” she nodded her head at the binder for Kate to hand if over to her. “Were you thinking we do all the demonstrations first and then the practice? Or demonstrate one skill, practice it, then move on to the next?”

"Is it a cute baby?" Kate asked, smirking softly. "I mean, cute to look at when it's not screaming or shitting?" She sat in one of the chairs and opened the binder to flip through her notes. She'd been taking notes about this for a while now.

"Ugh, babies. I can't even. I don't even." Kate added, then gave a little shudder. She passed the binder over to Veronica. “Demonstrate, practice, then come back together to move to the next.”

“Viv is adorable, even when she is shitting or screaming,” it was a little crazy how much Veronica loved that kid already and she wasn’t even hers. But she still didn’t want a baby of her own. “It’s just a lot. And exhausting. And I’m not even the mom. No clue how Sharon does it. I refuse to change diapers.” That was just too gross.

Veronica began to flip through the binder looking over Kate’s notes. It was clear she had already put a lot of thought into this. “Yeah, I think that’s the best way to go about things.”

“She’s on her own, right? Oh, no…” Kate was trying to remember. “The father’s involved, but married to someone else?” She thought she had it straight. Pretty good for people she didn’t really even know. She’d just heard about them from Veronica. “I mean, that is a lot. Single parenting’s a big deal, no matter what the age of the kid.”

Kate nodded. “Sounds good. I’ll just have you and the others come up with what skills you want to teach, then give you free reign. We’ll all practice together sometime, and teach each other our skills. It’ll be a win-win-win.”

“Aramis, yes he’s married. Both him and Porthos are involved. They set up a nursery at their house and everything. I don’t think I have ever seen a more loved kid than Viv,” not that Veronica made it a habitat of hanging out with many kids, but still.

“Yeah that way we can all help when the attendees are practicing. We should do that soon.”

“Oh, that’s cool.” Kate said, nodding. “The kid’s got two dads, huh? Three if Sharon ends up getting married or something someday.” Kate wasn’t into that kind of thing herself, but… well, she could imagine that other people might want something like that. Especially if they already had the kid part.

“Very soon. I’ll try coordinating with the others. Figure out a day we can all hang out together and work on it.” Kate added.

“Yeah, like I said a lot of love.” Veronica wasn’t into the whole marriage thing either. She had no clue why so many of her friends were pairing off lately. But whatever made them happy she supposed.

“Sounds great. You already know I’m in. This is one of the best ideas I heard in a long time.” It wasn’t like Veronica to hand out compliments but this was well deserving of one. “We are going to kick some serious ass.”
