Who: Elphaba and Elsa What: Dress shopping When: Early July (Saturday 4th July) Where: Mall Rating: Low/None Status: Complete
Elphaba and Elsa were out at the mall this saturday, looking for wedding dresses. There were several boutiques in the centre and Elphaba had managed to get a couple of appointments booked with some of them. Smiling across at Elsa, she nudged her gently with an elbow as they approached the first shop. “You excited yet?” she asked.
“Ridiculously so” Elsa nodded, “Kind of nervous too but the good kind if you know what I mean” Elsa was going to have her wedding dress made but she wanted to get an idea of the styles she liked before meeting with the woman designing it and luckily Elphaba had been available to help her.
“I do know what you mean,” Elphaba grinned. She remembered preparations for her own wedding just under a year ago and how exhilarating it had been. “Do you have any idea what you’d like for your dress then? A big meringue or sleek silhouette?” she grinned. “Or are you open to trying any and all styles?”
“Definitely not a meringue, I’m not open to that” Elsa laughed, “Perhaps something sleek, but other than the awful ones I’m open to trying on a number of different dresses. Perhaps something quite classical” she mused.
"Well that's that's a good start. I remember not really having any idea when I started out. I had to try on even the meringues," she laughed, holding the door open to the first shop for Elsa to head in. "Just tell the assistant what you're thinking about and I'm sure they'll find something you like," she smiled as she followed her in, not wanting to get in the way of Elsa’s choices or take over.
“I like the idea of sleek and smooth, the dress in my dreams is like that” she admitted, and that was influencing her a lot. She did as instructed and soon they were sat with champagne while the assistant went to chose different dresses for her to try. “This is rather fun” she grinned after another assistant brought them a small tray of chocolates.
Elphaba grinned at her friend, glad to see she was having a good time. “Cheers,” she lifted her champagne flute and clinked their glasses before taking a sip. “You mentioned the dress from your Dreams. What’s it look like?”
“It’s rather, close fitting let’s say. Ice blue with a cloak attached to the bodice” she gestured with her hands as she explained the dress. “It’s beautiful but I want something that isn’t exactly that for my wedding dress”
“Close fitting you say? Why Miss Elsa, are you as much of a sex bomb there as you are here?” Elphaba asked cheekily, winked and took another sip of her champagne. She was allowed to say naughty things like that, after all, they were both happily in relationships.
“I say I’m not a sex bomb here but Kate may disagree” Elsa smiled blushing a little, “Apparently when I embrace my powers I embrace tight clothes with a rather revealing split and letting my hair down, literally”
Elphaba laughed at her description. “I think you should have a version of that made here. For the good of mankind. Could you imagine doing a weather report in it?” she grinned
“I cannot imagine anything more embarrassing” Elsa told her, “I’m fairly sure I’d be taken off the air you know” she grinned. Thought perhaps a version of her dress might be nice, even if only to show Kate.
Elphaba laughed at that, she agreed it would probably be mortifying, although her own dress from the Dreams was very much not slinky and sexy. "Well we wouldn't want that," Elphaba grinned as they assistant came back with a dress for Elsa to try. "Go on then,"she encouraged her to head back to the changing room.
Elphaba tilted her head as she looked at the dress. “I like the silhouette, it really suits your figure, but I agree, the folds are just too much. Perhaps something...simpler?” she looked up at Elsa to see if that’s what she wanted.
“That’s exactly it” Elsa nodded, before looking at the assistant, “Do you have something with a little less going on?” she asked before receiving an ‘Of course, ma’am’ and being ushered back into the changing room. “This one is simpler but I feel a little like I’m wearing a nightdress” (ooc: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h295/dreximgirl/Sarah-Janks-Collection-2013-18_zpshkqojcev.jpg)
Elphaba sat back and looked her up and down, putting her thumb to her lips as she did. “Hmm...it is very...slinky,” she replied. “Perhaps more for the wedding night, especially with that back,” she grinned.
Elsa laughed, “Precisely what I was thinking” she nodded, “I would definitely be uncomfortable in front of people in this, I wouldn’t be able to relax”
“Ok then, so less silk and more substance to the material of the dress I guess?” Elphaba thought out loud, looking to Elsa for approval. She turned to the table between them and picked up a catalogue of their designs. She flicked through the first couple of pages, discounting most for being too...busy, before she came across one that might work. “How about this?” she pointed to the design and showed it to Elsa and the assistant.
Elsa nodded and looked at the design, “Is it maybe a little too plain?” she asked, “I mean I like the style but maybe with just something little added to it”
“Ok, do you mean something like colour? Lace? Perhaps sleeves or a sash?” Elphaba suggested, pointing to the dress in the magazine at various points as she did. “Perhaps some colour around the edges of the neckline and skirt?”
Elphaba sat up and gasped, putting a hand to her mouth as she saw her friend step out from behind the curtain. She looked stunning, absolutely breathtaking and the sight brought tears to her eyes. “Oh Elsa…” she said quietly, a happy smile spreading across her face behind her hand.
“I think that might be a good response” she said to the assistant who also looked like she might cry, “It’s the one right?” All thoughts of finding something and having it tailor made went out the window, this was perfect.
Elphaba was still speechless and all she could do is nod in reply. She looked up at Elsa and gaped like a fish, holding her hands out helplessly. “You look so beautiful,” she told her friend, meaning every single word. Elphaba could only hope that she had looked like that on her wedding day.
Elsa blushed deeply but looked immensely pleased, “Thank you so much” she said, deciding that yes this was definitely the one. She had found her wedding dress, and it really hadn’t taken that long. Apparently it was true that when you found the one you just knew.
“Oh Elsa, Kate’s going to fall in love all over again,” Elphaba grinned, shaking her head some more. “I think this deserves a celebration!” she cheered brightly.
