WHO: Emma Swan & Tinkerbell
WHEN: Following Tink's Text
WHERE: Emma's place
WHAT: Tink needs a friend, Emma has three; Jim, Jack and Jose.
WARNINGS: Mild: Drinking, potential language?.
STATUS: In Progress

When Tink had asked for a distraction, Emma wasn't entirely sure just what kind was needed. Until the issue of staying where she was and fights with boyfriends came up and then it was decided. Rather than have anyone worry about where they'd spend the night or how they'd get anywhere, Emma figured she could stock up on some booze and just keep Tink somewhere safe and get plastered.

Emma didn't know a lot about relationship issues, not really. She'd avoided a lot of those for a long time. But she knew that the job of a girlfriend when there were troubles in relationships was to handle the alcohol and venting. And she could totally do that. She had plenty stashed for them, chips to soak it up and water to hydrate later.

All she needed now was a certain fairy that was feeling down. Heading over to Tink's place to pick her up, her little bug chugging along as good as ever, Emma was almost record time get there. She had no problem driving out and driving back to help out.

After all, what were friends for?

Tink was a little nervous about leaving the cats there in the house with Anders. Not that she didn't trust Anders--she did--but that she didn't know anything about this Justice. Only what she'd seen this morning, and what Anders had told her about him. Anders needed space, so Tink was giving him space. Tomorrow she'd take the guest bedroom, and he could stay in the master. Or whatever. They'd work it out somehow.

But Tink was glad to be away tonight. It was too raw and too soon to talk to him again about who was sleeping where and all of that. This would avoid that conversation entirely.

Once they were back at Emma's place, Tink pulled off her jacket and let her wings out. Ever since the afternoon when she realized she couldn't fly, her wings were itching. She shoved her hands in her pockets.

"Thanks for having me over."

"It's no problem at all," Emma didn't really have a lot of people over, hell, Emma wasn't over a lot herself. But it seemed like the best option for Tink right then. The wings were still pretty damn cool, and Emma was glad that Tink at least felt comfortable enough to let them out while she was around.

"Make yourself at home, okay?" The living room and kitchen were joined, a small counter dividing them up. Emma had two non-matching sofas, one that sat three and one that sat two, a small coffee table and a television in the corner. It wasn't a lot, but it was hers.

It was the first time she actually owned furniture rather than renting furnished accommodations.

Grabbing a jug from the cupboard she filled it with lemonade and ice, collecting two glasses and picked up the bottle of Jack Daniels on the way to the living room again. "Jack and lemonade okay for you? Or you want something else?" She had a few things in, so she was a little flexible with stuff.

"No, Jack and lemonade is a-okay." Tink said, taking a lap to wander the main living area of the apartment. It was kind of Emma to have her over. They were just starting on their friendship, and Tink owed her new friend a great debt.

"You have a really nice place," Tink said, turning around as Emma came back into the living room. She'd dropped her jacket over the back of the sofa, and set a backpack down on the floor. (Hey, she needed a toothbrush if she was crashing on the sofa, right?)

"So... My boyfriend and I are on a little break. He's got some heavy dream stuff going on, and... he needs space to figure it out." Tink said, then moved to flop down on the sofa.

"Thanks, it's okay, for now." Maybe later she'd get somewhere she actually liked, rather than this place that she just put up with because it was cheap and affordable and close to where she now worked. She liked it enough, but she definitely didn't see herself living there for good.

Settling herself down with all the goods for the night, getting out the random junk food they'd picked up on the way over, Emma just gave Tink a small, soft smile. "Hey, I'm sure it'll be okay. I mean, the dreams are messed up, but I'm sure a little space and thinking time will be okay for him."

She knew that sometimes what one person went through wasn't the same as what others went through; it'd taken Neal explaining his end of things to her for her to understand why she'd gone to jail and been left heartbroken by the one person she loved the most. It might take some time, but she was sure they could work it out.

"But, until then, we are here to drink ourselves comatose, and you can crash here for as long as you need, okay?" Holding a glass out for Tink, Emma figured it was the least she could offer.

Hey, Tink lived in one of those places, too. For a long time it was what she could afford. And she had to cram all of her stuff into a tiny place because it was near work and not too far from her parents' place (but far enough that she could be away if she wanted to)...

Then the Old Man died and left her everything, and now she'd stepped up in the world. It was weird. Good weird, but weird.

"Yes. Yesssss." Tink said, and accepted the drink. "To being comatose and crashing on sofas." She said as a toast, and gave Emma a thankful smile. Then she gulped from the glass. Strong, burning liquid poured down into her belly and warmed her from the inside.

"So. Cards, or something? TV? What do normal people do to pass the time while they get intoxicated?" Because everyone knew Tink wasn't normal.

Drinking themselves unconscious was the best way to deal with relationship problems -it'd been Emma's go to when any of the women she'd worked with had talked about problems with their partners. Emma avoided it by not letting herself actually care about a conquest, limiting her boyfriends over the years to little more than the enjoyment of human affection when she let herself crave it.

"Well, I do have cards, somewhere. Or there's mindless television and ridiculous rom-coms or action movies." Or they could talk, but that usually came after a few more drinks, which Emma was more than ready to provide.

"I've got a few old movies around here somewhere too." At least enough to pass the time until the weepy/angry/talkative drunk thing started, depending on where Tink fell on the spectrum.

Anders was Tink's second real boyfriend. She'd sort of dated before that, but she was socially awkward and never knew how to make these things happen. The dreams actually helped a bit. Okay, so they didn't help with the social awkwardness, but she had wings and fairy dust. Normally she could fly. When she wasn't dwelling in sadness.

Time to get her mind off of it. She was glad she had a good friend to turn to at times like these. Even if Emma was a new friend, she was definitely a good one. "Whatever you wanna do. I'm really good for anything." She gulped again from her glass and enjoyed the burning as the alcohol made its way into her stomach. Then she cleared her throat.

"How's working at the Ranch, by the way? We haven't talked much about it." Emma worked at the ranch, right? Or was Tink mistaken?

"Okay then, here's the plan." They'd do girls night. There would be drinking, Emma might eventually break out some nail polish, they'd eat cupcake treats and crap and talk about random nonsense until they were drunk and didn't care what they were talking about or until Tink was sobbing her little fairy heart out and Emma was petting her. That was the way it usually went at least.

"We're throwing on the TV, watching some stupid show until we're at the shots phase. Then we're putting on a terrible talk show and drinking to their problems, and when we can't see straight, we'll maybe have something to eat to avoid liver poisoning." It worked, really. Getting so drunk you were sick seemed a good way to stave off some heartache.

Clicking on the TV, switching it to the channel she knew had the worst possible talk shows on the planet, Emma picked up her drink and curled herself on the couch. "It's good," the Ranch was kind of great, she really liked working there. Being outdoors and with the animals, she was adoring it so far. "I could do without the horse crap, but I guess every job has one draw back."

Tink laughed, lifting her drink as if in a toast. "I can absolutely get behind this plan. No liver poisoning. Perfect." She was excited to drink until she couldn't think straight anymore, then gorge on pizza (or something) and pass out on the sofa. That sounded like the best day ever--the best way to take her mind off her troubles. Thank God for Emma.

"You get used to the smell, right?" Not that Tink would know. She was sort of crap with animals. (No pun intended.) Tink was a Tinker Fairy, definitely not a Garden Fairy or an Animal Fairy. Or a Light Fairy. Or a Water Fairy. All of those experiments had ended poorly.

It was truly a tried and tested method. If it wasn't wine and chips then it was beer and nuts or spirits and really greasy food. They all did the trick just right. Drunk enough not to care, not so drunk to the puking stage. Emma hated that stage.

"Yeah, you get used to a lot of things." On the whole, Emma didn't notice it that much. Maybe when they were in the fields, maybe overnight in the stables, but on the whole it was just another thing that you go used to and stopped really noticing. "And honestly, I wouldn't swap it for anything in the world."

"That's amazing. I'm glad you've got a job that you love so much." Tink gave Emma a smile. It was genuine. Her mind was off the thing she wanted to take it off of. Being around a new friend and talking about whatever made things seem to melt away. "It makes life just a little easier when we're doing things that we love to do with people we're crazy about." She added.

Then she sipped again. Her words were starting to slur just a little.

"So, Netflix? What are we watching? I forgot." The smile went a bit sheepish.

"Considering the dominoes of jobs I've had before, yes, I'm glad it's one I like now." Emma had done just about everything she could at least once. She wasn't trained for a lot, so jobs that required degrees or specific knowledge on a certain thing, trades really, they were all out. But she picked up those other jobs fairly quickly, when all she needed to be was willing to deal with crap -literally in one case.

Emma was pacing herself a little better than Tink. For one thing Emma had a few more reasons to drink over the last few years, so she at least had a decent tolerance built up, but Tink was the one that needed to just chill out and get blitzed, so Emma wanted to be in enough control to take care of the girl.

"How about we launch it onto a comedy show? Modern Family? We'll just roll through the episodes that play." And if they half pay attention or miss it all entirely, not a big deal.

"Modern family it is." Tink said, settling back on the sofa. She was glad for the company, glad for the drink, and glad for a reason to turn her brain off. Emma was turning out to be a trusted friend, and Tink was thankful to have her around. "Thanks, Emma. I really needed this."
