To say Naga couldn’t cook would be an understatement. It was typically something that required the fire department, which wasn’t always a bad thing when you got a pack of hotties walking through the place. But she managed, somehow, to not burn some eggs, and she carried the plate into the bed room, wearing only one of Josie’s robes that was too small on her frame.
“Good morning!”
Josephine had been in that place between sleep and awake when she heard footsteps moving towards the room, which meant that Naga was awake. After they’d gone out the night before they had gone back to Josephine’s apartment and suffice to say, the night had ended quite nicely and now the thought of the other woman being the first thing she saw when she woke up caused her to stretch and open her eyes, a small smile appearing on her lips when she saw the plate in Naga’s hand, “You made me breakfast?” He asked, voice a little raspy from sleep as she moved into a sitting position and pulled the sheet up over her chest. She didn’t want to drop eggs on herself after all.
Josie’s robe was probably going to get stretched out, and it was obviously tied loosely when she leaned over to put the tray on the end table. She sat on the bed, reaching over to tuck some loose hair behind Josephine’s ear. The raspiness was adorable. “Surprise?”
Josephine didn’t mind if the robe was a little stretched out, because as far as she was concerned, it looked good on Naga. Or Naga looked good in it. No, it wasn’t the same thing. “Thank you.” Smiling, she leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to the other woman’s lips, “You’re gonna eat with me right? It’d be no fun if you already ate.”
Naga might have eaten earlier, but nothing that was actually food. But she wasn’t going to actually make that joke out loud. Instead, she sat down next to Josephine and handed her a plate. “I’m starving, you took a lot out of me.”
“Well, I don’t mean to gloat, but I’ve been told that I’m pretty good at what I do.” She smirked at Naga as she took the plate from her, “This looks good. Thank you again, but shouldn’t I be the one making you breakfast since it’s my place and all?” Not that Josephine minded in the least.
“Pretty good?” Naga flushed deeply. “I’m usually a lot more drunk when it comes to these kinds of things, so that makes you a little special.”
Josephine couldn’t help but flush a little bit as well at Naga’s praise. “Well, I’m glad that neither of us were fall down drunk last night. I’d have been sad if you hadn’t remembered the night.” She smiled and leaned over to press a quick kiss to Naga’s cheek before taking a bite of her eggs.
“Oh, I remember it.” Naga lowered her eyes, focusing more on her plate than the woman in bed next to her. She had the overwhelming urge to flee, and fought it pretty well, actually.
But Naga and sticking around weren’t usually things that happened. “Glad you enjoyed it.”
“So, do you have any plans for the day?” Josephine asked, eating some more eggs. She wanted Naga to stick around for a little while longer and hoped that asking about her plans weren’t going to scare her away. She liked the other woman and wanted to spend some more time with her.
Naga pretended she didn’t look like she was going to bolt out the door, and instead swallowed some eggs to give her a chance to think. “I was thinking I should practice my skills. I’m a little rusty.”
“Oooh. I’d love to see more.” Josephine said, finishing up her eggs and glancing at Naga, “Where do you usually practice?” She’d seen a little of what Naga could do the night they had gone out to celebrate Josephine’s job and ever since she had been extremely intrigued by it.
“There’s an old range where they disarm bombs, for the big stuff. For smaller stuff I just do magic around the house.” Or drop in a some of those free health clinics and discreetly cast some healing magic.
“Well now I’m curious about what you can do that would need a bomb disarming range to practice.” Josephine moved around a little so that she was sitting cross-legged, sheet wrapped around her loosely and facing Naga, “Can I see some more magic? Something small?”
Naga chewed her lip, then summoned up a light spell. Light flooded the room. Sometimes it helped to see the light. Her latest dreams left her feeling trapped and increasingly depressed. Which led to more drinking, but the drinking helped, usually. And today, the light did.
Josephine’s face lit up as she watched the light flood the room, “That’s amazing.” The morning sun had moved just enough so that it hadn’t been overly bright, but now Naga’s spell made it look like that too bright hour of the morning, but Josephine didn’t mind, because it was Naga who had caused it, “And so are you.”
“Well. I certainly am.” Naga threw her head back and laughed. Somewhere nearby, a dog howled in return. Naga extinguished the light. “One of my little used specialities is healing.”
“That could come in handy here, from what I’ve heard.” Josephine had heard about various incidents in Orange County that no one could explain that could certainly use a healer. Not to mention the whole vampire and demon thing that had just taken place in the county.
“I certainly could.” Naga wondered if she could charge for some of those services. It could actually be a really good racket if she handled it right.
“So, any chance I could tag along to see some more magic?” Josephine really wanted to see what else Naga could do, but she also didn’t want to impose on the other woman and hoped she wasn’t being too clingy.
Naga hesitated. Maybe she hesitated for too long, but Josephine looked earnest and Naga liked her enough. She sighed dramatically. “If you insist!”
“Really?” Josephine asked, a small smile upon her lips, “I don’t want to be all clingy or anything. You know, if you’d rather be alone.” She knew that Naga could potentially change her answer now, but Josephine really hoped that she didn’t.
“I might need to be alone later,” Naga admitted. She ruffled her fingers in her own hair. “But right now...maybe not.”
Josephine nodded, smiling, “Okay. Soooo, wanna go take a shower to start the day?” Her expression was a little mischievous and it was obvious that she was suggesting they shower together.
Naga slipped out of bed so fast that she nearly tumbled to the floor. “Last one there gets a spanking!”
