Celaena was nervous. So nervous. She’d not even been this nervous when she’d performed her first solo for the ballet company. Checking her reflection in the mirror once more, she sat down on the couch to calm herself. Checking her watch, she stood up and again and walked to the front window to look out and see if he was here yet.
Grinning to herself as she saw him walking up the driveway, she hurried to the door and beat Mr Thomas to answering the doorbell. A hand on the door handle, she thanked him and he moved off to clean something she imagined. Taking a breath and smoothing down her skirt, she opened the door a happy grin on her face as she greeted him. “Hey there you.”
When Damian had gotten the text from Celaena, he’d realized that since he’d met the dancer he’d been happier than he’d been in awhile and now that him and Alyssa were able to be friends again that made him even happier cause now there was nothing stopping him from being happy. She had invited him over for cake, which he’d figured out she’d baked in the hopes that it would entice him over and really, even if she’d just asked him over he still would have gone. Damian really liked Celaena and had told her so recently.
Reaching her house, he parked and headed for the door, which was answered quickly by the blond, “Hey.” He smiled at her as he stood there on the front steps.
Celaena grinned broadly at him, stepping back from the door to let him in. Once she'd shut the door behind him, she stepped up and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "So, how are you?" She asked, feeling excited and nervous at the same time. She hadn't really had a boyfriend before. Boys had liked her, girls had like her, she'd shared a few kisses, but she'd never officially had a boyfriend. Was that even what they were now?
“I’m good. How’re you?” Damian was still smiling as he stepped into the house, unsure of what exactly he should do. He’d already told Celaena that he liked her, but it wasn’t like they had really talked about it yet to decide anything. With Alyssa, they’d lived together before they had started dating so he’d felt more comfortable around her when it had come out that they liked each other. With Celaena, he found that he was a little nervous and not sure how he should act, not wanting her to change her mind about liking him.
“I’m good, good,” Celaena grinned, feeling the awkward silence settling over them as they stood in the large hallway. She was really happy to see him but she realised that she wasn’t quite sure where they went from here. She’d never really had time for any serious kind of relationship before. Admitting she liked him seemed far easier than this right now.
Her smiled faltered a little as she realised they were both pretty clueless in this situation. After a minute, she thought back to her talks with Izzy and she decided to take some action. “Screw it,” she muttered, reaching forward and taking his face between her hands, pulling him forward to plant her lips on his. She closed her eyes and prayed this wasn’t going to be the worst thing to happen in her life since she got dizzy and fell over doing fouettés during a showcase performance.
Damian was taken off guard slightly as Celaena kissed him, but having dated Alyssa, he was used to having a girl make the first move so after a moment, he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her back.
After a moment or two, he pulled back, cheeks slightly flushed and a smile upon his lips, “Guess that broke the awkwardness, huh?” Damian didn’t see how anything could be awkward after that.
Celaena laughed and blushed at her forwardness, dipping her chin to try and hide it. "I hate waiting," she told him simply, shrugging and peering up at him innocently. She couldn't help the flirty smile and little sway that accompanied the look. She loved the feeling of his arms around her and leaned into his body as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Although it's going to put a whole new spin on me asking if you want to try my cake," she joked a grin splitting her face. They'd only had a first kiss, they should probably get comfortable with that before she made any more jokes like that.
“Oh man, that might just make this even more awkward.” Damian laughed and leaned in to give Celaena a quick kiss before releasing her, “But I was looking forward to trying this cake the whole ride over here so I’ll try to get over it.” He was glad that the awkwardness of a moment ago appeared to be gone.
Celaena giggled and took his hand, happily pulling him through the hallway and back to the kitchen. She was almost skipping she was so happy. “So, you should know I don’t cook often and when I do it’s only for ultra special occasions,” she told him as she drew him over to the centre island which had the cake stood on it. The kitchen still smelled of freshly baked cake and she had to admit, she was very proud. She’d not even burnt it! Pulling the cake closer the them, she picked up a knife and cut two slices for them, placing them on plates already set out on the table. “So, what do you think of my cake?” she asked, a teasing glint still in her eye.
“I’m sure it’s fine. I mean, if you went according to the directions then how could you mess it up?” Damian asked, watching as she cut two pieces, “It smells really good.” He picked up a fork as the plate was moved in front of him and he took a forkful and put it in his mouth, “Mmm. This is really good.” He said after swallowing.
“Obviously you have never seen me try to bake before. There’s a reason we have a butler,” Celaena told him, taking a bite herself. “Mmm, this isn’t too bad,” she nodded, her mouth still full with cake. She watched him for a second and swallowed, grinning as went to take another bite. She darted forward and kissed him again, his lips tasting of the sweet banana bread.
Damian was about to respond when Celaena kissed him again, “Hey. What do you think this is? Now that we’ve kissed you can just go around stealing them whenever you want?” He quirked a brow at her, a small smirk upon his lips. He honestly didn’t have any problem with her kissing him again, but he liked to tease her a little.
“Oh I’m sorry, do you not like my unfettered attentions now?” Celaena teased right back, grinning happily before sighing dramatically and reaching to take his plate of cake away. “I guess I’ll have to find someone else to make cake for…”
“Hey! Now that’s not fair.” Damian set his fork down on the counter and turned towards Celaena, “Do I have to fight to get my cake back?” He took a small step closer to her. Considering that she also dreamt of being an assassin Damian could only guess as to who would have the quicker reflexes in this case. They had sparred together before, but it was still too close for Damian to really decide who would be the winner right now.
A predatory grin spread over Celaena's face as she narrowed her eyes at him. Putting a hand on her cocked hip, she looked him up and down. "I can think of others ways you can get your cake back. Besides, you'd never beat me," she teased, unable to help herself. He just brought out the tease in her.
Damian’s brow rose slightly, “Oh really? And what are those?” He took half a step closer to Celaena, an amused expression on his face as he waited to see what she’d come up with. One of the things that Damian liked about Celaena was how silly she could get when they were together and he liked making her laugh.
Celaena cocked her head to one side as he stepped closer, a little grin on her face as she considered her options. "Pirouettes," she told him. "On pointe," she grinned, bringing a hand up to innocently play with the buttons on his shirt. "You could try to, but without years of training you wouldn't be able to get your cake back so you'd have to think of some other way to persuade me," she shrugged, her fingers continuing to play.
A small smirk appeared on Damian’s lips for a moment before he darted forward and pressed a kiss to her lips, his fingers wrapping around the edge of the plate in the process and proceeded to take it from her. A moment later, he stepped back, smirk still upon his lips as he picked up the fork and took another bite of his cake, “Point, Damian.”
Celaena gasped and grinned evilly. “Well if we’re going to play dirty then…” she pounced and tickled him like they were children. Laughing as she did, she pulled him down to the floor and sat straddling him as she continued to tickle him, managing to get her hands under his shirt as it rode up.
Lucky for Damian, he had all that training as an assassin and martial arts expert so he saw the attack coming and managed to put the plate down on the counter only seconds before Celaena pounced on him. Laughing he grabbed at her wrists to try and stop her from tickling him. "Why do all girls resort to tickling?"
"Because obviously they can't keep their hands of you," Celaena laughed as she continued to wrestle against his hands. Her hair was a mess and her cheeks pink as a result of the wrestling match, but she grinned down at him joyfully. This could be a very good relationship.
