Who: Mia Dearden and Bronn
What: Junk food and earthquakes.
When: Sunday
Where: An intact grocery store
Ratings/Warnings: PG-13, for swears
Status: In progress!

Sure, it was a big earthquake. One of the bigger ones she'd been through. But Mia had grown up in California, and earthquakes were just part of life. Thankfully, Tyrion's place hadn't taken any damage. They were, however, out of junkfood. Bronn had been on a run when the first quake hit, and he'd come home empty-handed.

One nice thing about the quake--she was probably a terrible person for thinking in those terms--was that her scratches and bruises didn't stand out. People would assume she'd been hurt in one of the quakes, even though anyone who paid attention would see that the cuts were more than a day old, and the bruises on her neck couldn't have been caused by anything falling on her.

Still, it made it a hell of a lot less awkward to be out with Bronn. She nudged Bronn aside, taking the cart. "My turn. You always get to drive."

Bronn wasn't quite used to earthquakes. They didn't typically happen in London. That didn't mean he was particularly concerned about them, either. To be fair, there wasn't much that could get him to the level of worried, and as long as the few people he actually cared about (i.e.: Tyrion and Mia) were all right he just sort of rolled with it. He'd come home empty handed last night, mostly because he had no idea what the damage had been.

And he'd been a bit cross with junk food at the time, considering how it had assaulted him. That was then, this was now. And now, he was craving Twizzlers. "That's because you drive like a tiny maniac," he grouched, but gave up the cart without a fuss.

"This, coming from you?" She grinned up at him, avoiding the produce and heading straight for the back where they kept the unhealthy stuff. There'd been a rush on the typical food staples from the crazy people who apparently thought they were going to be shut in their basements for the next few months. Hopefully chips and candy weren't considered Earthquake Food by most people.

She was pleased to find the candy aisle wasn't completely bare. "Gummy bears," she announced, grabbing a couple bags and tossing them in the cart.

"Yes, coming from me. So imagine how bad you must be." Bronn shot back, following behind her. He had no idea how, but he'd sort of adopted Mia as a little sister or something. It was like he and Tyrion were hetero life mates or whatever ridiculous term there was for that now and Mia was their kid.

He reached above her to grab two bags of Twizzlers. "You can keep the damn bears. I have these," he quipped, throwing them in the cart.

"I'm sure that old lady would've run into the cereal display even if I hadn't been there." So melodramatic!

Mia drove further down the aisle, stopping for chocolate. She grabbed a giant bag of M&Ms, then headed for the Little Debbie snacks. She was pretty sure they wouldn't have teeth after this.

"Of course she would've." Obviously, his driving was a terrible influence on her. He couldn't be more proud.

Bronn, for the most part, stuck with fruity things. (No jokes, please.) Twizzlers, Skittles, Jolly Ranchers... he figured if he wanted chocolate later, he could steal some of Mia's. "No diabetic comas," he warned her. "I'm not driving to the hospital when the roads are this bad."

"Clearly we need some chips and frozen pizza to balance it out. That's how it works, right?" Medical advice from Dr. Mia. She started to turn the cart when the aftershock hit.

It wasn't strong enough to tip the cart; She wouldn't have had any problem at all if she'd been going in a straight line, but she was off balance, and she struggled to stay on her feet.

Bronn opened his mouth to say something smart-assed in response when the ground started shaking. He was about to do something helpful like make sure Mia could stay on her feet when several boxes of Ding Dongs fell off the top shelf and made a precision strike onto his head.

"For fuck's sake, not again," he cursed.

Mia let go of the cart--wheels didn't make for much stability in this situation--and reached for the endcap of the heavy shelf to steady herself. Some boxes fell, but she was on the corner so she missed most of them.

She couldn't help but laugh at Bronn's predicament, particularly the cursing. She couldn't imagine many scenarios in which Ding Dongs were cursed at with such gusto. "Again?"

"Always seem to be in the junk aisle when these things happen. Last time it was bloody Kit-Kats." Bronn grumbled, rubbing his head and holding on to the shelf for stability, waiting for the shaking to stop.

"Hurt a hell of a lot less than the Ding Dongs, though." He added, kicking one of the boxes out of pure spite for the sugary things.

Mia laughed, straightening up slowly when the shaking stopped. "Yeah, that cardboard really packs a punch," she said, smirking.

Once she was reasonably sure the aftershock had passed, she grabbed the cart. Amused as she was, she could kinda tell why Bronn had come home without food. Even though earthquakes didn't freak her out, she wasn't craving mass amounts of sugar anymore.

Bronn picked up one of the fallen boxes and playfully bonked Mia on the head with it before tossing it in the cart. "Does when it's several boxes at a time, pup."

He looked thoughtful for a moment. "I believe you said something about frozen pizza and crisps?" Chips were french fries, thank you.

Mia stuck her tongue out at him. "Least we weren't in the canned foods aisle." She frowned a little, thinking. "Maybe we should check that one on the way to the pizza.." She was picturing old ladies and children buried underneath piles of cans, and it was distressing.

"..And chips."

Bronn considered arguing with her. He didn't really care about what had happened to anyone else, but he knew better. Mia wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer.

"Fine. But if I get blood on my new trainers, you're cleaning them."

Mia rolled her eyes, but she was the one with the cart. She headed down toward the canned food aisle, and was relieved to see that most of them had stayed on the shelves. A few were rolling on the ground, but there didn't seem to be anyone hurt.

Mia grabbed a can of Spaghettios from the ground and tossed it in the cart before heading toward the frozen pizza.

"All right, checked on them, good deed done for the day." Bronn grumbled under his breath, following along. Right now his stomach was starting to growl and he just wanted to get home and start eating. And maybe check on Tyrion, make sure an end table hadn't fallen on him or something.

"Right. Frozen pizza, crisps, home."
