It felt like a lifetime ago that the body swap had happened, but that was only due to crazier events taking place in her life. Now that the crazy vampires and demons had disappeared to where they came from she was able to take a bit of a breather from her job. Peggy had sent a note to Anders earlier asking if he wanted to meet up soon to catch up. She considered him a friend and she wanted to make sure that things were going well with him now that he was back in his original body. She had just learned about a British grocer who owned a tearoom in the area and suggested that they meet up there for lunch if he was free. It would be nice to have a little slice of home while trying to relax from her job.
Anders felt a little guilty at how disappointed he was that the vampires and the demons had all somehow disappeared. On one hand, it had been a remarkably good way to let off a lot of the stress that his most recent dreams had been affording him, but people had been dying, and that was really not something that he should be disappointed about. Peggy’s invite really had come at an opportune time, in that he was taking all the distractions he could. He felt there was a kind of friendship that was formed when someone lived in your body for a week.
Spotting Peggy when he walked in, he went to sit with her. “Hey, Peggy!” he greeted her. “Nice choice. I didn’t even know this place existed.”
A hand was raised and she gave a small wave when she noticed him come into the building. A smile was offered when he complimented her choice of venue and she gave a laugh. “I had no idea either. I was bored on google and discovered this place existed. I knew I needed to give it a try and this was the perfect opportunity,” she admitted to him as she scooted over slightly so that he could have a bit more room at the table. It seemed like a pretty straight forward menu - lots of tea and lots of food - which suited her perfectly, “So how are you?”
Well, that was a bit of a loaded question at this particular time. “I’ve been… well, as well as anyone can be with these Dreams,” he said, looking over the menu. “What about you? Been keeping busy with all the Orange County craziness?”
“Uh oh. That means someone has been having bad Dreams,” there was a look of concern upon her face that the mention of that. Her dreams were never that horrible except for the fact that Steve had “died” in them, but nothing truly horrible happened to her. Granted, she had more realistic dreams compared to other people, “And I’ve been fine. This fun craziness just added extra hours at my job. But I will admit it was interesting to see an evil vampire in person for the first time.”
“You could say that,” Anders said. “My Dreams have never been sunshine and lollipops, but I’m pretty sure it’s all downhill from here. I know I shouldn’t focus on them so much, especially since everything seems to be going exceptionally well in real life.” That was the life he should be focusing on. “Evil vampires are ugly as sin. TV has always made them seem so handsome,” Anders said, chuckling a little. “Though that makes it sound like you’ve met some non-evil vampires.”
“It’s a part of your life, so it’s going to affect you, but you’re right in not trying to dwell on them too much. If your life is much happier here then be thankful for that and try to keep your chin up. I know that sounds so stupid to say up, but it’s just so easy to get hung up on the horribleness of the Dreams,” Peggy had tried not to dwell on the loss of Steve from hers. She didn’t know him here, but it still felt like a small part of her was hurting because of the loss, “And I have not met a vampire before, but I just assume they’re all evil. And agreed, no one would love a vampire if they were ugly, so gotta love movie magic.”
“It’s sound advice, even if it is a little cliche,” Anders said, smiling a little bit. “They’re hard to shake off, but I’ve got Tink and a great job and the best cat in the world.” And hopefully that would stop him from getting possessed and blowing up a church filled with innocent people. “It seems strange that people are even supposed to love vampires nowadays. I remember when I was a kid, the closest you got to loveable vampires was The Lost Boys. And I guess Interview With A Vampire.”
As he listed off hte things that make him happy she couldn’t help but smile at him, “That’s it exactly. Those sound like amazing things to focus on. And yeah, I’m still not sure why vampires are such a thing. I mean, Interview With a Vampire was pretty awesome, but I so didn’t get into that whole Twilight craze. But this certainly makes me like vampires a lot less now.” She wouldn’t be lining up to see any crazy romances with vampires anytime soon. It was still weird to believe that the paranormal were real. Couldn’t she just have a normal spy life? Oh well.
"Oh, Twilight is dreadful. I'm not sure how anyone could have thought sparkling vampires was a good idea." The point wasn't to make them scary, he knew, but the idea of people sparkling in the sunlight was a little creepy in a way that he was sure had never been intended. "It was a good way to practice my more offensive magic, but if the Orange County could maybe go two months without throwing more strangeness our way, I'd be pretty happy."
"Right? They're just awful. And the acting. I only made it through the first one and couldn't even be bothered to watch the rest of them," Peggy admitted with a laugh. Glitter was not meant to be on a grown man or anyone in the sunshine. And it had just been an all-around terrible movie, "God, I wish that would actually happen. Keeps everyone busy at least, but I would love a breather."
