At least the topic of conversation was dropped. Because really, it would be fine eventually. Yes, she officially had the verification as opposed to speculation on if her dad told anyone about the real reason she had moved. But that was it. Besides, the conversation about adventures and the TARDIS were much better. Even if she did roll her eyes at the the reason Troy claimed to have disapproved of the proposal. "Mhmm, of course that's it."
It was lighter at any rate. Tired teasing, but it was still them. And back to discussing what to do if (or when, who knew with Orange County) the TARDIS showed up. "Well that certainly sounds interesting. You know, if you don't get us lost."
Which really did have a habit of happening. Clara had accepted it in the dreams, that making plans didn't always work out and they would end up in random locations or times, or both, and then they would just go on an adventure there. Or talking about introducing Julius Caesar to a Caesar salad.. on the day he was stabbed.
"Well that's irony for you." It just got to the point where being shocked or incredulous didn't make much sense. Travel through time and space, and things like that seemed to happen. "Is that so?"
Okay, it was plausible the Doctor invented chess. Clara had dome some reading on it, though the game had always been more of something her dad preferred to her. But she had done her research on it, the history and there were a handful of origin stories for the game, what it evolved from, where it happened. Why not between the Doctor and Julius Caesar?
