Tony Stark was a man who appreciated potential. He had a soft spot for kids, too. Though this Peter Parker was far from being a kid, that part of Tony's personality--the part that wanted to take kids under his wing and help them along--was shining through. Besides, the more he heard about Peter from Gwen, the more he saw bits of himself in the kid.
So he'd set up an appointment to meet Gwen's friend, the brilliant Peter Parker, then promptly forgot about it. It wasn't until about five minutes before their meeting that an email alert popped up on his phone.
Tony was in the lab, trying not to think about certain things, trying to keep his heartrate down, when the receptionist sent him a note telling him Peter Parker was waiting to meet him. Tony grabbed a donut on his way out of the lab and then headed out to the waiting room. He was wearing a short sleeved t-shirt over a long sleeved one, though the double layer didn't stop his reactor's glow from shining through the fabric.
At exactly three, Tony opened the door to the waiting room and glanced around, eyes falling on the young man in the suit. He stepped through the door and cleared his throat. "Peter Parker?"
