Bull was out doing the grocery shopping, something he did every Sunday. Most people hated busy grocery stores, but Bull enjoyed the people watching, always had. He enjoyed it a lot more after his dreams. He tried to intuit things about the different people like he would have in his dreams, but he wasn’t good at it. He hoped that would change, all the while hoping he wouldn’t lose his eye.
Josephine was also out grocery shopping, contemplating between name brand cookies or store brand. Name brand were always better of course, but it wasn’t like the recipes were really that different and by buying store brand, she could buy more since they were usually cheaper. As she continued to debate the differences between the two packs of cookie she glanced towards a man in the aisle and held up the two packs, “Crazy question, name brand or store brand? Which would you rather have?”
He looked over at her, blinking. Josie! But then immediately he stopped his grin, knowing she’d think he was the crazy one. “Name brand. Tried the store brand once, it was crap.”
It took Josephine a moment before recognizing the man before her, “You’re on Valarnet, right?” They had spoken a few times now and she knew he was some sort of fighter, but she didn’t follow wrestling or MMA fighting or any of that stuff.
Bull nodded, inwardly glad that Josie had recognized him. He’d always liked her; she was careful and kind, but stronger than she looked - at least in the dreams. He hoped they’d get on here as well. “I am. How’d your interview go?”
"Oh it went well." Josephine was surprised that he remembered her, but she smiled as she answered, "I got the job actually. So, I suppose it went better than well. How did your boyfriend's move go?" She was fairly certain that the last time they'd spoken, was when he's posted about his boyfriend moving in.
“That went fantastic, then, congrats.” Bull’s smile was genuine, his teeth bright and white. He was trying to seem like he only remembered bits and pieces of her; he figured it’d be less creepy if she dreamed about him first. “It went well, we’re all situated now. It’s nice. Cosy.”
“Thank you,” Josephine said, smiling as she put the name brand cookies into the cart, “And that’s good. And I’m assuming you’re still in the honeymoon stage, so you haven’t discovered anything about each other that annoys the other.” She winked at the man, clearly teasing him.
“Oh, of course. That’s a fun stage, though. No need to rush it. And I’m sure the flaws will all be mine.” Bull chuckled to himself, shaking his head. “I’m old, so I’m sure there’s just been more time to get messed up.”
“You can’t be that old. I mean, look at you.” Josephine moved a hand up and down in the air, gesturing towards Bull. However old the man was, he was in extremely good shape, “I’m sure your boyfriend appreciates that.”
“Well, thank you. I’ve got about ten years on Danny, but he doesn’t mind. Honestly, it all becomes about maturity after both parties are over eighteen.” Bull couldn’t help but puff up a little; compliments were nice.
“That is very true. Maturity is always a good thing,” Josephine smiled at him, “But you guys appear to be doing well, so that’s really good. I’m happy for you.” She might not have known the other man well at all, but she was still happy that he was happy.
“What about you? Is there anyone in your life right now? Or did you move here by yourself?” He wondered how she was doing, if the dreams would hit her too terribly hard.
“I did move here by myself, but I’ve been out here for awhile.” Josephine had only just found Valarnet though, “And as for your first question, there is someone I have a bit of a crush on.” She smiled, thinking about Naga.
Bull couldn’t help but grin. “Well, good. It’s always a shame to see people who like people be lonely.” And Josie was a little social butterfly, that much he knew from his dreams.
Josephine smiled, “It’s still new. We’ve only gone out twice. The first time was when we met and I don’t really know if the second was a date or not.” She really did like Naga and hoped that the next time she talked to her, they could plan another get together and maybe this time she’d know if it was actually a date.
“You could always ask. In my experience, one person usually thinks it is and the other person doesn’t. Better to just have everyone on the same page.” He smiled and chuckled. “I basically had to tell Danny that I liked him ‘like that’,” he said, using liberal air quotes.
“I suppose you’re right. I probably should just ask to be one hundred percent sure.” Josephine laughed as Bull made air quotes, “That’s actually kind of cute. Your boyfriend is a very lucky guy.”
“He’s pretty cute himself, so it works out.” Bull smiled a little sheepishly, putting his hands into his jeans pockets. “But yeah, it’s always better to know so that way nobody ends up feeling upset later on.”
Josephine nodded, smiling up at Bull, “I think, if I ever need further relationship advice, I’m coming to you.” It seemed like a pretty good idea to her, “Well, I should probably get going. Don’t want to keep you. Your boyfriend might think you got lost.”
Bull chuckled. “Don’t worry, I’m always open for advice, especially for you.” He moved to grab a bag of whole wheat pasta just behind her, then saluted.
Josephine smiled then gave a little wave of her fingers towards Bull, “Well, I appreciate it and I’m glad we finally got to meet in person. I’m sure I’ll see you around again.” With that, she turned his cart, after choosing the name brand cookies and headed for the next aisle.
