Myrcella and Jeremy were out walking the dog on the beach, he ran on ahead barking and chasing the waves as they walked hand in hand along behind him Myrcella had removed her shoes and was letting her feet sink into the soft sand.
“It’s always so peaceful around here. My Uncle did pick the best location” she said as she smiled at Jeremy, they’d walked a fair way from the house but they knew the area very well.
As they walked, Jeremy was aware of everything around them, because not only was Klaus out there somewhere, but according to Valarnet there were vampires running around too and not the kind from his dreams. Knowing nothing about these other vampires meant that Jeremy had to be extra cautious, which was why they hadn’t gone very far from the house, “It really is a great area. You’re lucky he let you have it and didn’t just sell it.” It had worked out well for both of them.
Myrcella had seen a few things online but honestly hadn't put much stock in them. There was always something going on after all and it mostly didn't ever come to bother them.
"Very lucky. I think a small part of it was to annoy mum but he wanted me to be happy and he knew I was very happy here" she said with a smile.
“Him and your mom don’t really get along, huh?” Jeremy had met Myrcella’s uncle as well as her mother and while her mother wasn’t a horrible person or anything, he could see why her uncle might want to annoy her a little. “And I for one am glad that you stayed here.” Jeremy hadn’t had the best of luck with girlfriend’s in the dreams, two of them had died after all, so he was glad that he was having much better luck in real life.
“Not really. Mum doesn’t get on with Uncle Renly or Uncle Stannis, but then she doesn’t really get along with dad so it’s not such a surprise” she said with a wry smile. “I’m glad I stayed here too” she said, squeezing Jeremy where her arm was around his waist as they walked, “And I plan on staying for a long time” because even though they were young she couldn’t imagine her life without Jeremy.
Jeremy smiled and wrapped his arm around Myrcella as well as they walked, “I’m glad.” They walked a little further before Jeremy decided that it was probably far enough. If it weren’t for the fact that Klaus was out there and vampires from someone else’s dream world, Jeremy wouldn’t mind staying out longer, but he didn’t want to get too far from the house. “We should head back.” He gestured towards the house then called out for the dog.
“Okay” she smiled, “We’re alright here aren’t we? I mean the sun hasn’t completely gone down yet and we’d see anything coming right?” she asked him, sensing he was worried and leaning into him a little to give a reassuring squeeze. She found it quite sweet that he was worried, and she also felt reassured that he was with her.
Jeremy glanced out at the setting sun as the dog ran up to them and they started back towards towards the house, “I don’t know how dark it has to be for these vampires to come out, so it’s probably a good idea to get back now.” The last thing Jeremy wanted was for them to get attacked by vampires. Jeremy could probably handle them, but he didn’t want anything to happen to Myrcella.
“You’re right” she said, leaning up to press a kiss to his lips. They didn’t know enough about these vampires to take a chance and Jeremy was the one with more expertise in this area so she’d follow his lead. “Let’s go snuggle a bit” she grinned happily.
Taking Myrcella's hand, they headed back towards the house, the dog following behind them. When they reached the house the sun was just disappearing over the water and Jeremy could see more stars than a few minutes ago. He was reaching into his pocket for the Blackfoot keys when he heard some rustling coming from the tent that still occupied part of the backyard. "Myrcella, go inside." He gestured towards the house just as the tent flap moved aside and one then a second man stepped from inside.
"Nice digs you've got here." The first one said, indicating the tent as he stepped closer, which was when Jeremy noticed the ridges on his forehead, yellow eyes and fangs. This was definitely one of the vampires Buffy had been talking about.
Myrcella moved towards the house when Jeremy instructed her to, fumbling with her keys as she backed up not willing to turn away from the two vampires. Her dog grumbled at the intruders and stayed in front of her. She wasn’t sure what was going on but she knew she needed to get inside the house, Jeremy would be able to handle them better if she was out of harm’s way as much as she wished she could help she knew she lacked the skill. The little sparring sessions they’d done really weren’t enough to be taking on creatures like this.
“Hey, where’re ya going?” One of the vampires asked, glancing at Myrcella. Unlike the vampires from his dreams, this one didn’t run up to Myrcella at lightning speed and instead started towards her at the fairly normal pace, which let Jeremy get between them easily as he pulled a stake from his belt.
“I wouldn’t do that.” Jeremy said, gripping the stake in his hand as he stared the vampire down. He was only just barely keeping control over himself, but if the vampire made another move towards his girlfriend, nothing would be able to hold Jeremy back.
Myrcella forced herself to remain calm, despite her pounding heart, Jeremy was there and he’d protect her though she was worried about him she knew he was skilled and she had to trust in that. She continued moving steadily backwards until her back hit the door and she looked down to put the key into the lock and open the door.
The vampire who wasn’t in front of Jeremy laughed when he saw the stake, “Do you even know how to use that, kid?”
“Only one way to find out.” Truthfully, Jeremy was extremely nervous cause he had never actually gone up against a vampire before in real life and while they weren’t the vampires from his dreams, that didn’t mean that they weren’t still dangerous, but he had to act confident if this was going to work.
Thinking about nothing but Myrcella’s safety, Jeremy lunged forward towards the vampire, stabbing the stake into his chest. However, unlike the vampires in his dreams who merely dried up when staked, this one turned into dust almost right away, causing Jeremy to stumble forward as it floated away on the breeze.
Stepping into the house Myrcella turned to watch Jeremy stake the vampire in front of him just as it turned to dust causing her to gasp. It was so strange to see it happen in front of her but she soon refocused as she noticed the other one move towards Jeremy. Grabbing the first thing to hand which happened to be a book she threw it at him as she called out, “Jeremy look out”
Jeremy might have been a Hunter, but he didn’t have any sort of magical vampire sense or anything like that and he was still a little shocked at what had become of the first vampire, so he was grateful when he heard Myrcella’s warning. Turning around, he thrust out his arm as the second vampire tried to get the jump on him, the stake getting him in the chest. He burst into dust just like the first one and without hesitating, Jeremy ran towards the house. “Shit. That was…” Once inside the house, he dropped the stake and pulled off his hoodie to check his mark, which was still the same as it had been before, only up to his wrist. “Thank god.”
Seeing the mark and realising Jeremy was okay Myrcella practically threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and holding him tightly. “I’m so glad you’re okay” she said the relief obvious in her voice. Part of her couldn’t help feeling awful for being so useless, she would have to work on upping her ability to take care of herself. She could help Jeremy more then if this kind of thing happened again.
“No, I’m glad that you’re alright.” Jeremy said, arms wrapped about Myrcella’s waist. Jeremy constantly worried about Myrcella’s well being considering his track record with girls in his dreams, he felt that he had reason to worry. “We’re gonna have to be more careful till this whole thing is over.” If it ended, but he wasn’t going to say that part out loud.
Myrcella nodded, “Let’s just not leave the house” she said, being holed up at home with Jeremy sounded much better than being out there with those kind of things. “The cupboards are well stocked so we won’t starve” she added, trying to add a little lightness to the situation before she leaned up to kiss him.
Jeremy chuckled a little nodded as he kissed her back, “At least at night. I think we’ll be safe during the day.” At least he hoped that they would be. So far the vampires were the first he’d seen, but he’d heard about demons and those weren’t as easily taken care of as vampires, but he hoped neither of them ever ran into one of those.
