Owning your own business meant that it was easier to skip out when you didn’t have any work yourself to do, which was what Felix was doing today. He had two clients that he was working with personally and he had spoken to each of them earlier that morning so that meant he was free to do whatever he wanted and what he’d wanted to do that day was spend the day with Sarah. They had decided that they were going to start looking at apartments for the three of them to move in to since Felix’s current apartment, which had been perfect for just him was too small now for three of them. Sure, Sarah and Kira could have moved out on their own, but Felix wanted them close now that they were finally there.

So, apartment hunting while Kira was in school was the way him and Sarah were spending their afternoon. They were currently grabbing lunch before heading to the next apartment, which was only within walking distance of Felix’s current apartment.

Sarah had the day off from work to search for apartments with her brother, she was so glad everything was settling down for them. Kira was happy at her new school, Sarah was getting her job schedule sorted and they were now looking at apartments. Things were going well. Even if the dreams Felix had told her about had started and were really quite strange.

“Okay so this country may not do tea well but they definitely know how to put together a good sandwich” she grinned as she ate her lunch.

Orange County was definitely not San Francisco and it was a very drastic change from Minneapolis, though Cosima didn’t mind the slight fish-out-of-water feeling she had with being in a new place. After all, there were opportunities here and she and her parents could visit easier than they could while she’d been in Minnesota. Still, she was attempting to learn her way around.

So after having finished some lab work, she decided to go grab some lunch out somewhere. She’d briefly thought of calling up one of her new acquaintances to see if they wanted to join her, but it was a bit too last minute so she just went herself.

Walking into a place that seemed to be promising, it was a bit difficult to miss her with the dreadlocks and, well, the very San Fran vibe she gave off with her style of dress. She put in an order for a frappuccino and a sandwich, then moved to wait for her food. Then when she had food and drink in hand, she picked out a seat and headed over to it. She passed by Felix and Sarah, paying them a glance because she was a people-watcher. But then she did a double-take on Sarah and she stopped dead in her tracks and, well, stared.

“Holy shit,” she muttered.

"There are some really good things about this country, but I still miss home a lot," Swearing usually got Felix's attention cause it usually meant something was going on and he hated to miss things. Turning his attention towards where it had come, Felix's eyes widened, full bottom lip falling open as he stared at the girl who looked exactly like Sarah, "Bloody hell." He recalled the pictures and video of Beth Child's from the dreams and the other IDs in the briefcase Sarah had got from the German's hotel room, but he hadn't seen this girl. He would have remembered this girl.

Frowning Sarah followed Felix’s gaze and her eyes widened, “You are fucking kidding me” she breathed. Like her brother she had seen the briefcase and ID’s inside it but this girl was definitely not there. Sarah had to admit in the back of her mind she admired the girls ability to pull off that style but outwardly she revealed nothing. This was bloody weird.

Okay. This was weird. More than weird. Cosima was trying to make sense out of why the other woman looked exactly like her. Sure dopplegangers and some resemblance to strangers happened, but this girl was exactly her, just without the dreadlocks and without glasses. And a completely different wardrobe. And a British accent.

“Uh...okay, totally didn’t mean to like stop the show, but what the hell?” Cosima said, glancing to Felix again. Unlike them, she hadn’t had any dreams, so suddenly she felt the need to call her parents and ask if she had a twin sister somewhere that she didn’t know about.

Turning his attention from the Sarah Clone back to his sister, he stared at her for a moment, "You don't think..." He knew things from dreams bled over sometimes, but how was this possible? He still wasn't even sure how the whole twin/clone thing was possible in the dreams yet, but here was a girl who looked exactly like Sarah, standing right in front of them who clearly had no idea who Sarah was.

“No way. How?” Sarah said focusing on her brother, “I mean, I suppose it’s one explanation. Weird but...” she shrugged, less weird than having no reason for it. She looked back at her ‘twin’ consideringly, this was getting even stranger and possibly more interesting.

Cosima looked from her ‘twin’ to the young man and back again as they were seemingly having some sort of knowing conversation that she had no idea what it meant. “Alright, clearly I’m missing something here, but is this the time where I call my parents and ask them if I have a twin sister they never told me about?” Despite the things she studied in her classes, she wasn’t thinking anything more than twins right now. She hadn’t yet been introduced to the weird that was Orange County.

Now that the other girl mentioned it, it was actually entirely possible that this whole thing could have a simple explanation. Sarah was a foster child after all and never knew her parents, so it was entirely possible that they could be long lost twins or something and not clones. “Right, I’m Felix and this is Sarah.” He said, unable to take his eyes off her as he looked for any differences between her and Sarah aside from the hair and glasses, “And you weren’t adopted by any chance, were you?” Leave it to Felix to cut to the chase.

Sarah rolled her eyes and hit her brother, “Sorry” she said, “But you weren’t were you?” Because it was actually a very good question, and certainly a lot easier to explain than Sarah and Felix’s shared dreams coming to life. Which she didn’t even want to consider right now.

“I’m Cosima,” she introduced, taking a moment to try and shake herself out of the shock she must certainly be in. “Not to my knowledge, no. But clearly we’re related because this goes way beyond doppelgangers and simple resemblance. Even being a scientist, this is a trip. Twins is the only thing that makes sense.” Leave it to Cosima to try and reason it out.

“Twins. Or clones.” If there was one thing Felix Dawkins didn’t have, it was a filter and he often said things without really thinking them through or was simply just straight forward with the things he said. Realizing then that Cosima was holding what appeared to be her lunch, Felix gestured towards the other chair at their table, “Want to put that down?”

Sarah smacked Felix again when he said the 'c' word. "It's definitely a trip" Sarah said with a smile before nodding at Fe's suggestion, "Yeah join us. So you said you're a scientist?" she asked.

“Clones? Human cloning isn’t a thing yet.” Cosima gave Felix a little suspicious look. “They’re still trying to perfect it in animals.” Then at the invitation, Cosima glanced down at her lunch, suddenly remembering it. “Oh! Yeah, thanks.” She then sat down, then looked back at Sarah. Yeah, it was still really strange to look at her, but Cosima was running with it. “I am, yeah. Going for my PhD, actually, at UCI.”

“Not in real life,” Felix said, under his breath, but also loud enough for both Sarah and Cosima to hear. “Let me ask you another thing. You wouldn’t happen to have joined an on-line community called Valarnet, would you?” Her answer would determine whether or not she was likely to start having dreams or if this was completely unrelated. The odds of it being unrelated to the dreams seemed slim, but there was still had small chance and Felix had to be sure.

“A PhD? Impressive, so you really must be a clever cloggs then” Sarah said, before glancing at Felix. He had a point, she hadn’t been around long but even she had realised the connection between the net and the dreams.

Cosima caught that first mention and she gave Felix a puzzled look. However, his question was at least far more normal as far as she was concerned. “Yeah, I just joined it like, a week or two ago, I think?” With all the stuff for school that she had going, it was a bit difficult to remember just when she’d first joined that place. She then turned her attention. “Yeah, I suppose I am. I mean, I was clever when I was like six, but a PhD is nothing to sneeze at.” The dissertation tended to be daunting, though Cosima was rather looking forward to writing hers.

“Bloody hell.” Felix glanced back at Sarah as his first suspicion was confirmed, “Should we tell her?” Of course, even if Sarah said no, the fact that Felix was asking right in front of Cosima meant that the other girl would probably demand to know what they were talking about. And honestly, if there was a chance that she was going to start having the same dreams as Felix and Sarah, she deserved to know. It was for that reason that he’d told Sarah a few weeks ago, before she’d started dreaming.

Sarah rolled her eyes at her brother, it was a good job they were just regular people. If they'd been spies or something Fe would have been useless. She shrugged, "I guess" though if the superbrain believed them was another matter entirely. "Have you read anything about the dreams? Seen people posting?" she asked Cosima.

Oh yeah, even if they didn’t explain Cosima was going to ask what they were debating on telling her. Cosima was definitely the type of person that once her curiosity was risen, she had to find the answer. So she gave them both a curious look before Sarah plunged into the topic. “In passing, though I didn’t put much stock in it aside from normal dreaming. Considering people can dream really crazy shit and all.” So unassuming. “Why?”

Felix was used to Sarah rolling her eyes at him or hitting him when he said something particularly outrageous so he barely registered it half the time, "Because Sarah and I both dream about girls who look exactly like her. Most from Europe." He left out the part where the European twins, or whatever, were all dead. "And then here you are looking exactly alike."

Sarah knew he was used to it but it was such a habit that she couldn’t stop herself most of the time. “It’s not just a coincidence, things happen around here when you start dreaming. It’s weird. I didn’t believe Felix when he first told me, but when you have the dreams you just know they’re different than your regular ones”

Cosima looked at them a little skeptically. Though it was hard to tell which part was more difficult for her to swallow, the dreams in and of themselves, or the part where they both dreamt about girls that looked exactly like Sarah. “Okay, so wait,” she said, holding up an index finger. “You’re telling me that there’s dreams that are different from normal ones, and that you both are dreaming of look-alikes from Europe?” That just sounded crazy, but Cosima couldn’t refute the whole she and Sarah looked exactly alike thing. “What’s that supposed mean, then?”

Felix nodded, “That’s it exactly.” He knew how hard to believe it sounded. After his first dream he’d wondered if it hadn’t been drug induced, but after the second, there was no denying that he was having the sort of dreams that everyone was talking about. “So I assume you fit in there somewhere.” There was still the chance that Cosima had nothing to do with their dreams, but Felix would believe it only when she failed to make an appearance.

"You'll come into the dreams at some point. This is just too much of a coincidence for you not to" Sarah said, "When you do start to dream you'll believe us. It happened with me"

“Yeah, I’ll believe it if I see it,” she responded, perhaps slightly defensively. This wasn’t exactly something she’d foreseen having to deal with. Besides, Cosima was also the show-don’t-tell type. She’d rather believe what she saw with her own eyes than take someone’s word for it. “Though I do give you the fact that us looking exactly alike is not a coincidence. Because this-” Cosima gestured between herself and Sarah a couple times “-goes so far beyond being dopplegangers or something. I mean, if you put any stock into those theories. Which, well, technically just given the possible ways human genetics can play out, many people can have uncanny resemblances to each other. But this is so far beyond that.” And oh yes, she went off on some science babble. As she tended to do more often than not.

As Felix listened to Cosima’s science babble, he finished off his lunch, “Why don’t we swap numbers. So if and when you start, you can let us know. Or we can just keep in touch anyway.” It was strange, seeing Sarah’s face on someone else, but there was also something about Cosima that he liked.

Sarah liked her too, and even though the majority of her science babble went way over Sarah’s head she had a feeling her knowledge would come in handy. She was maybe even enough of a smartie pants to figure it all out. “Seeing is believing” she quipped before nodding in agreement with Felix’s idea, “Good plan” she said, “You up for that?” she asked Cosima.

“Exactly!” Cosima said with a grin. One couldn’t keep her upbeat personality down for long. Plus she kind of liked Felix and Sarah already, even if it was weird to see her face looking back at her yet being different. “And yeah, definitely down for that. It would be good in the event I have these dreams and need people to talk to who know what I’m talking about.” Or not if there was science involved and Cosima started babbling about it, but she’d cross that bridge if and when she came to it.

Taking his phone out, Felix set up a new contact and handed it over to Cosima to enter her information, “I would be very surprised if you didn’t start dreaming. Apparently it’s a thing around here. All the cool kids are doing it.” If Felix was honest, he hoped that Cosima was part of his and Sarah’s dream world, because he was very curious how she fit into it.

"And since you look like me or vice versa then you are definitely a cool kid" Sarah grinned, she'd get the number from her brother later and drop Cosima a text to make sure the other woman had her number too.

As Felix did so, Cosima took her phone out and set up a new contact, handing her phone to him as she took his and added her information in before returning it. “Hey, totally like being one of the cools kids. Or geeky kids trying to be cool anyways.” She laughed, then looked at Sarah. “We could totally pull twin shit, you know. I mean, if there was anyone we wanted to prank.” Because why not have fun with the situation?

Felix entered his information into Cosima’s phone then opened up a new contact to add Sarah’s as well. “Pretty sure you’d have to have the same hair for that to work though,” Felix smirked as he handed Cosima back her phone, “And something tells me Sarah isn’t about to do the whole dreads thing. Even if it does look really cool.”

Sarah let Felix take care of the number exchange, it was just easier that way. “I doubt I’d be able to pull off your classes, all that science babble stuff goes right over my head. I could try the hair, for a day or so. It looks cool but it’s definitely not me”

Taking her phone back, she laughed. “True enough. But we could still make people look at us twice.” Cosima grinned a bit, then she checked the time on her phone. “Speaking of school, I should get going. But hey, it was awesome to meet you both. Even if a bit surreal.” While she was a bit weirded out by this turn of events, Cosima was also intrigued by it. Moreso in getting to know Sarah and Felix than the whole Dream thing.
