Kyu was sunbathing in the park. She wore the skimpiest bikini she thought she could get away with, ignoring pointed glares from mothers as she stretched out on a towel. She didn’t think fairies could get skin cancer. (At least, she hoped they couldn’t.)
It wasn’t exactly hot out; in fact the weather had been pretty crappy lately, but that didn’t stop people from laying out in the park; after all it was California. People liked to think that California was always hot, year round. Felix himself had thought the same before he’d moved there and found that sometimes California could have weather just as crappy as England and today was one of those days. The sun had been in and out all day and it was supposed to rain at some point, but for the moment the sun was out, so he had decided to grab a coffee so he’d cut through the park near work.
Unlike some of the other people in the park, Felix was wearing black skinny jeans and boots with a sweater that was more for fashion than warmth what with the holes in it that he’d actually bought from the women’s section; a wife beater underneath. As he walked, he glanced at a few people, suddenly recognizing one, who was laying out, “I don’t know whether to ask if you’re wearing sunscreen or advise you to put on a shirt so you don’t get frostbite.”
Grinning, Kyu wolf whistled at Felix and used a finger to push her sunglasses down. “Heeeeey, good lookin’, come sit with me. And I’m using baby oil, so no to both.” She impishly stuck her tongue out at him before sitting up.
Felix laughed and removed his own sunglasses as he moved to crouch down in front of the pink haired girl. “Well that’s not gonna do shite.” Felix couldn’t remember where he had heard that, but it was one of those random things that stuck with you that you’d never think you’d end up actually telling someone.
“Hey, it makes me all soft and smell good!” She’d have hugged him, but she was still sticky. “What’re you up to today, sexy?”
Reaching out, Felix poked the area just above her breast and below her collarbone, "Baby soft," Felix may not have been attracted to the opposite sex, but he could still appreciate certain aspects of the female body, "I was just taking a walk. Taking a break from work." He had his cell phone on him in case he was needed.
“What do you do for work?” Kyu flopped back down, smiling at him. It wasn’t like she was unaware that he was gay, she just flirted with everything that didn’t protest.
Finally sitting, Felix stretched his legs out in front of him and placed his hands on the grass behind him as he leaned back a little, “I’m a party and event planner. I own my own business.” He’d always enjoyed planning things so party planning had come about easily.
“Oooh, fancy! If I ever throw an event, I know who I’m gonna call.” She liked the guy, he was one of those people that was easy to be friends with. “You’re probably organized as hell, huh?”
“I’m up for planning almost any party you can think of.” Felix hoped that he’d hear from Kyu to plan a party cause he had a feeling that she would have a fun party, “At work I am. At home, not so much.” Felix’s apartment was messy exactly, but he also didn’t spend as much time as he could organizing it.
“Well, you’re not being paid for it at home. Hey, as long as you’re not a hoarder, who cares?” Kyu grinned and sprawled out, eyes closed. “Your job sounds fun! If you ever need free help, let me know.”
“No, not a horder. My flat isn’t that messy.” In fact, since Sarah and Kira had moved in, he’d done more cleaning than usual. “It is really fun. Especially when I get to plan parties for celebrities. I have a pretty big celebrity clientele.” Felix didn’t mean to brag, but he also couldn’t help it.
“Ooooh, really? Any dirt? Oh, if you ever need party favors, I sell anything natural. Don’t want to deal with anything made in a bathtub.” She wrinkled her nose.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Felix gave her a cheeky grin then sat up a little straighter, “Natural stuff? Are we talking about narcotics here, pixie?” Felix had an occasional tendency to give people nicknames and Kyu was now the newest recipient.
“Oh, god, no. Just weed and ‘shrooms. Peyote on good days, salvia but that shit’s legal anyway.” She stuck out her tongue at him. “I don’t want anyone to die on my account, you know?”
“That’s probably a good goal to strive for.” Felix smirked, “However, I might have to check out this weed. My dealer got arrested.” Not that Felix had gotten high since Sarah and Kira had moved in with him. The apartment was simply too small for him to try and sneak it and smoking weed on the fire escape just wasn’t a good idea at all.
“Oh, that sucks.” Kyu sat up and reached into her huge tote bag, fishing out a baggie that had some plastic balls in them. In the middle, he’d find a dime baggie of weed. “Put those in water for a couple of hours, they expand. Super fun. And it’s free, because you’re cute.”
Felix took the baggie from her and inspected it before putting it in his pocket, “Thanks. I’ve never seen anything like this before, but I’ll give it a try. Promise it won’t kill me?” He asked, smirking, clearly teasing her. “And if I always got free drugs as a result of my good looks, I’d constantly be high.”
“Oh, they’re fun, just don’t eat ‘em.” Kyu grinned, stretching her arms over her head and raising her legs to touch her toes. “And ain’t that the damn truth, you’d just be like the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland, permabaked.”
Felix laughed, nodding, “That is pretty much exactly what would happen.” Well maybe not with Sarah and Kira around, but before they moved in with him that was likely something that could have happened, “Well, I should probably be getting back to work. Just cause I own the place doesn’t mean I can play hooky all the time.” Then again, Felix didn’t really spend as much time there as he probably should. He did a lot of work by phone and through meetings with clients.
“My number’s in the bag too, so call me sometime, we’ll go shopping or some shit.” She grinned at him, liking him already. Some people were just easy friends to make.
