Who: Anna Arendelle and Caroline Forbes
When: Tonight
Where: Their place
What: Caroline comes home drunk
Rating/Warnings: Low/None
Status: Complete
Caroline was so done dealing with everything. She needed a damn break. A night off from worrying about Nik. She had told him she wouldn’t give stop caring and she meant it, but she needed a break. All she had done the past week was worry about him. Besides there was nothing she could do now anyway. She was waiting until Hans talked to Regina. Might as well drink in the mean time.
She had stayed at the bar until it closed. She considered compelling the bartender to keep the bar open later, but figured it was probably best she headed home. She was actually drunk and that took a lot considering she had vampire tolerance.
Caroline entered the condo she shared with Lexi and Anna, not worried about how loud she was being.
Anna had been waiting up for Caroline on the sofa. She was surrounded by school books, and had been studying. Finals were just around the corner, and Anna was determined to keep up her 4.0 grade point average. But it was ridiculously late now--past two--and Anna just couldn’t hack it. She’d fallen asleep, her face between the pages of her Art History text.
The front door opening made her lift her head, though she was still mostly asleep.
When Caroline walked into the condo she saw Anna on the couch surrounded by books. Right. Finals were coming up soon. That was the last thing on her mind. She really didn’t care about passing her classes anymore. Besides she was a fucking vampire. She could compel herself whatever she wanted or needed. There were worse things than compelling people. Such as murdering them like Nik was probably going around doing. Ugh no she didn’t want to think about him right now.
“Hi,” Caroline greeted her roommate who didn’t seem fully awake. “You should get to bed. Yup.” Caroline wasn’t exactly slurring her words or stumbling about. It wasn’t blatantly obvious she was drunk. She was still a vampire with her vampire instincts after all.
Anna’s eyes were closed, her hair was a mess, and she was sitting up, facing Caroline. There may have been drool. “I’m up. I’m up. I’m… where… am I?” She finally opened her eyes and blinked a little as she looked around sleepily. “...Care? What time is it?” Anna lifted her wrist as if to check a watch, but she never actually wore one.
“I dunno,” Caroline replied. “Late?” not all that late for Caroline though. She hadn’t exactly been sleeping all that much lately. “Why are you sleeping out here? You should go to bed,” didn’t she already say that? Oh well.
“I should… yes.” Anna said, nodding twice. She turned her eyes to Caroline, though, as if seeing her best friend and roommate for the first time (in forever). “Wait.” She sat up a little, instantly a bit more awake. “...I was waiting up for you. Where were you?”
Waiting up for her? Suddenly Caroline felt like she was back in high school when her mother used to wait up for her. “Why?” she asked defensively. “I was at a bar,” she added answering Anna’s question. “Is that allowed?”
Anna frowned a little bit. She knew that Caroline was going through something right now, but she sincerely had no idea the depths of it. “...I was concerned about you.” She said, also defensively. Maybe not as sharply, because Anna wasn’t actually capable of being mean. “Is that allowed?”
“I’m fine. I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I don’t need you to look after me. I’m a vampire remember? It’s almost impossible to hurt me.” Unless you were a damn original hybrid with no humanity who just felt like snapping her neck.
Anna’s frown deepened. “You and I both know that’s not true,” she said, softly. “There’s more than just physical pain, Care.” She closed the book she’d been sleeping on, hoping that her drool wouldn’t make the pages stick together. “But if you really insist, I’ll try my best not to worry.”
“I’m fine,” Caroline insisted again crossing her arms over her chest. “I’m not going to break down just because some guy took off,” that was putting it lightly considering everything else Nik had done. “Relationships end all the time,” though she had no clue what her and Nik were. It seemed pretty over with the whole snapping her neck, having no emotions or feelings aspect. “It’s fine.”
“Yeah, but… you’re allowed to be upset about it.” Anna said. “I mean, if it hurts, that’s okay. We can talk about it. Or not. Whatever you wanna do. I just… I’m here for you.” She started to stack up her books and notebooks to take into her room. “If I was acting the way you are, you’d worry, too.”
“First of all we are in college. Now is the time to go out and party,” Caroline retorted not exactly sure about what other behavior Anna could referring to. “Second if you had been through what I have I can almost guarantee you would be doing the exact same thing.”
“Okay. Okay, fine.” Anna said, hugging her books and her notebooks to her chest. “I’m going to bed. You know where I’ll be if you … I don’t know.” She sighed softly, and moved past Caroline to get to her bedroom.
“Goodnight,” Caroline replied taking off for her own bedroom at vamp speed. The last thing she wanted was to have to deal with everything that was happening right now.
