Sarah was very much looking forward to going out with Felix and was very grateful to Emma for watching Kira for them. Kira herself was already settling in well at the school Sarah had chosen for her and it looked like Sarah might get a grant from the local government for the work she wanted to do as a community councellor too, thanks in part to the support she’d received on the idea from Mary Margaret.
Finishing her make up she moved to the bedroom door, “Fe? You nearly ready?”
Now that Felix had had another dream and Sarah was actually in Orange County, he thought that it was only right to tell her about them. It was only a matter of time before she started dreaming and he didn’t know how she’d react if she knew that he already knew about them. He hadn’t wanted to tell her around Kira or anywhere that his niece might overhear, but at the same time, they didn’t have Mrs. S to watch her when they wanted to go out, so he was grateful that Sarah had met someone who would offer to watch Kira for a few hours so they could go out.
Felix was just finishing up getting dressed when he heard Sarah’s voice and taking one last look in the mirror, he made sure his hair was perfect then headed for the door. “All ready. Lets go.” He might have been going out to spend time with Sarah, but that didn’t mean that there might not be someone else looking at him and if there was, he needed to look good.
Sarah expected nothing less than her brother to look perfect, he pretty much always did. It had been a while since they’d been out together and Sarah had to admit she missed it, she loved being a mum but sometimes she needed to let her hair down and since Kira was now in school and Sarah herself settling it seemed a great time to celebrate.
“Great” she said, before popping into the living room to say bye to Kira and thank Emma for her help. “You have no idea how much I am looking forward to this” she told him as they left.
Felix lived in an area where there were a few pubs and clubs nearby so they could easily walk instead of drive, which was good cause even though Felix had a car, he didn’t really like driving. It was just easier to walk sometimes. “There’s one pub down this way that I go to a lot. It reminds me of that one back home that we always went to.” He gestured down the street as they started walking.
Linking her arm through his Sarah followed, she knew he'd know some good places to go. He was Felix after all and now it was his job to know this kind of thing. "You come all this way and find a local that reminds you of home" she grinned.
Felix grinned as they walked arm in arm towards the bar, “Don’t mean or we’ll turn right around and go back.” He wasn’t at all serious of course. After the dreams that Felix had recently had, he really needed a drink and it was a little more difficult to drink properly with Kira around. Plus, he wanted to spend a night just him and Sarah.
Sarah laughed, "I'm never mean to you" she told him with a smirk before leaning her head against him, "I'm so glad I'm here finally you know? I've missed this" she admitted.
“Just keep telling yourself that.” Felix laughed as he wrapped an arm around Sarah’s shoulders as they continued walking, “And I’m glad you’re here too. I’ve missed you and the monkey too much.” They walked a little further down the street until they came upon the bar, “And here we are.” Removing his arm from around Sarah, he opened the door for her.
"You wouldn't believe the amount of times Kira wanted to know when we were moving with Uncle Felix" she smiled, her monkey loved him very much. "Oooo let the fun begin" she laughed as they entered.
“I was thinking, maybe now that the two of you are here, we could get a bigger apartment once you’re on your feet.” Felix’s apartment had been fine when it was just him, but if Sarah and Kira were going to continue to live with him, a one bedroom apartment wasn’t going to cut it. They needed room for all three of them and it wasn’t as if Felix couldn’t afford it.
Once inside, Felix led Sarah towards the bar and ordered two beers, knowing that they usually drank the same sort of things except when it came to cocktails.
“You sure we wouldn’t be cramping your style?” Sarah said, only half joking. She didn’t want her brother to feel like he had to be stuck with them. Though she knew Kira wanted to keep on living with Uncle Felix and honestly so did Sarah but he had his life out here and she didn’t want to get in the way.
“Oh yes, as you can see, I’ve had to cancel so many hookups because of the two of you.” Felix smirked as he picked up the two glasses of beer and led the way over to a table so that they would be able to talk, “Besides, we could always get a place with a backdoor so I could sneak guys in and out and Kira will never know.” His apartment now only had one entrance unless someone wanted to go out the fire escape.
Sarah laughed and followed him to the table, “I like that. Thinking ahead” she grinned at him, “So more than one way in and out is one requirement” She figured they actually wouldn’t have an awful lot of requirements, but there would be a few things they needed to make sure worked for them.
Felix nodded, "At least one. The second would be three bedrooms." That was the obvious one of course, "Anything you want on the list?" He didn't foresee them having anything crazy as far as requirements went, but he was sure there would be a few more specific things they would keep in mind while apartment hunting.
Sarah nodded, “Definitely” while she loved Kira and didn’t mind sharing with her daughter there were just sometimes when Sarah needed her own space. So yes, three bedrooms was a must. “A garden is asking a little much I guess, maybe a shared green space might be nice’”
“There are some community gardens around here,” Felix passed a few now and then, but he didn’t know exactly what one had to do in order to use a community garden aside from be part of the community, “We should start looking on-line this weekend.”
“Good idea. I think Kira would like to grow some flowers and stuff you know?” Sarah said, “It’s good for responsibility development” One of the many things she’d learnt on her counselling course.
“Something we weren’t very good with.” Responsibility was not something that either of them had been very good with as teenagers. It wasn’t until Sarah had come back with Kira that things had changed for the both of them and he was glad for that, “So, this may sound mad, but have you experienced anything odd since coming here? Dreams or anything?” There really was no easy way to bring it up that wasn’t completely out of the blue.
“Yeah, I wanna make sure Kira is better than we were” Sarah smiled, knowing exactly how bad they had been in that regard. “Dreams? Is this to do with all that weird stuff people are talking about online? Are you a superhero in your dreams Fe?” she teased, “I can’t say I’ve had any odd dreams”
Felix laughed and shook his head, “No, I’m not a superhero. I’d be the worst superhero.” He took a sip of his drink as he tried to decide how to talk about the dreams, “You’re in them though. You and Kira. We live in Toronto, of all places.” Felix had never been to Canada, but from the looks of it in his dreams, he much preferred California.
“You’d dress really well” she told him with a grin as she sipped at her own drink. “Toronto huh? That doesn’t sound too bad. It looks okay on television. It’s sweet that you’re dreaming about us”
Felix quirked a brow at his sister, “I already dress really well. Better than you.” Felix liked to think that he was more stylish than most people he encountered. “That’s not all though. Apparently you’re a clone or something.” Felix still didn’t know exactly what the story was, but clone seemed the most likely considering all the documents of other girls with Sarah’s face.
“Well yes but I mean if you were a superhero you’d be the best dressed one” Sarah told him with a wink. “A clone? Like there’s lots of me? Well, that could come in handy. If I wanted a day off I could just send Sarah number two to work for me” she chuckled.
Felix shook his head, “It’s not exactly like that. You all look exactly alike, but you’re all different people. There’s a German and one is from France and two were in Toronto too.” He left out the part where the German had apparently been killed right in front of Sarah and that was the only reason they’d found out about all the others. “You’ve dragged me along with you on a mad plan to meet up with the soccer mum you’d confronted earlier. In the suburbs of all places.” Felix made the suburbs sound like the worst place imaginable.
Sarah laughed,"You? In the suburbs? With a soccer mum? Who looks like me. Oh that is brilliant. You have the best dreams Fe. Seriously, I'm almost jealous"
“Oi! I protested. You made me go with you.” Felix said, taking a sip of his drink before adding, “They won’t be just my dreams for long. Now that you’re here, chances are, you’ll start having them soon. I just wanted to warn you before they started.” He had debated over it for awhile, but in the long run he had decided that it was better if Sarah knew beforehand.
“Seriously? You think I’m gonna have the same dreams you’re having? Have you spiked my drink?” she laughed, “Honestly, I think the heats getting to you out here”
Felix made a face at his foster sister, “Don’t believe me, but when you do start dreaming, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Felix had seen people talking about shared dreams on Valarnet so he had a pretty good feeling that Sarah would eventually start dreaming of the same things he was. He’d be extremely surprised if she didn’t.
Sarah had seen some stuff but just dismissed it, her brother seemed pretty convinced though. "Alright, if I do dream the same dream as you I'll let you say I told you so"
“That’s all I ask for.” Felix smirked and took another sip of his drink. Now that he’d told Sarah about the dreams he felt like a weight had been lifted and now it was just a matter of waiting until she started so that he wasn’t alone in this.
