And of course Susan had picked the precise moment to interrupt something. She really should have called; this surprise idea had her feeling more guilty by the moment. Childhood warranted for surprises and sneaky behavior, but adulthood, something Susan seemed to have virtually embraced since the moment she could understand life, did not have the luxury of such things. Plans had be to be made, preparation, and time to clear one's schedule for that particular person or event. Susan rarely did anything without a good deal of notice to the other person long in advance, but this time she'd opted to be childish and, as always, found herself regretting the role. It was strange; since she came to California she'd been feeling quite childish. She linked it to the prospect of seeing her siblings again, but deep down she'd felt as if it was much more than just the addition of her brother and sister's company. It felt rather magically for lack of a better term; Susan really despised that word. It came along with things like "impossible" and Susan dealt strictly with the possible, with the real, and magic-obviously-fell far short from that category. No doubt it was just nerves and anxiety at seeing people she had not seen in quite sometime. That had to be it.
There was a minor creak before the door swung open and Susan found herself face to face with her brother's fiancee. It had been a while since she'd seen Caspian, but he hadn't changed much at all. His hair was longer, but his expression, except for the jaw dropping, nearly to the floor, was as warm and friendly as she remembered. "Caspian, I do-" She broke off. The young man stepped forward and wrapped her in tight embrace. Stunned, it was a second or two before Susan returned it, arms around him just as tightly. For all the nerves and the anxiety, the fear of interrupting something important and being a nuisance, Susan couldn't help, but feel happy and a little bit pleased at the shock she'd managed to invoke on him. She was positive her sister and brother would do the same and hopefully be just as pleased to see Susan as Caspian was."Well, hello yourself," she replied brightly. "It's been quite some time, but I thought such a celebration as my brother's wedding more than warranted a visit." She stepped back, leaving a hand on the young man's arm, the smile incapable of slipping from her lips. "How are you? Is my brother and sister around?"
