Celaena was buzzing. The final performance had been incredible. The audience had been electric, the atmosphere intense and she had even felt tears in her eyes when she took her curtain call. The flowers thrown on stage for her had been one of the highlights, but the best part had been knowing Damian was sat in the audience watching her. Once she had taken all her make-up off and thanked the rest of the troupe and crew, she bounced out to the foyer and bar to meet up with Damian. Spying him sat at one of the tables, she waved at him,a brilliant smile on her face and bounded over holding her flowers. “Hey! Thank you so much for coming!” she grinned at him.
Since they had met, Damian had only seen Celaena outside of the theater, but never had he seen one of her performances and he'd really wanted to. So he'd found out when her last show was and made sure to get her a bouquet of flowers. After the show, he'd gone out to where the bar area was to wait for her, which hadn't taken very long and upon seeing the blond, he smiled and stood up, holding the bouquet out to her, "That was amazing. You were amazing."
“You really think so?” Celaena smiled at him, delighted to hear him say that. Mr Thomas came up beside her and she handed him her bag and the flowers in her hands before thanking him. Turning back to Damian, she stepped up close to him and took the flowers he offered her. “Thank you so much! These are beautiful,” she smiled and bent her head down to smell them. “You didn’t have to. I’m so glad you came, did you enjoy it?” she asked hopefully.
Damian nodded, “Yeah, I do.” Sure, Damian hadn’t seen any other ballets, but he still thought that Celaena had been amazing. “And of course I had to. I mean, you can’t go see someone in a play of ballet without bringing them flowers.” He smiled as he watched her sniff the flowers. “I did. I’d never been to a ballet before, but I really liked it. And like I said, you were really amazing.”
Celaena smiled brilliantly at him before turning and handing the flowers to Mr Thomas who headed off to wherever her parents were sitting. Turning back to Damian, she stepped up and pressed a kiss to his cheek, lingering a little to try and gauge his reaction. Moving back, she didn’t step away from him, but she could feel her cheeks flaming at what she’d done. She tucked some hair behind her ear and gave a little nervous laugh. “Did you uh...want a drink or anything?” she asked, thumbing over her shoulder at the bar.
Damian hadn’t expected the kiss to his cheek and he felt his own cheeks flush as well, “Ah, yeah, sure.” Damian wasn’t twenty one yet, but that didn’t mean he hadn’t drank before. When he’d been living with Alyssa, he’d drank a few times since her mother didn’t really care.
“Ok,” Celaena smiled at him and hurried off to the bar. The bartender knew her and that she was too young, so there wasn’t a chance to get any kind of alcohol. Ordering two cokes, she headed back to the table Damian was sat at and put the drinks down on it. Sliding into a seat next to him, she took a sip of her coke before speaking. “So, what’s new with you?” she asked, still buzzing with energy from the performance and the simple fact he was there for her.
Damian watched as Celaena went to the bar, unable to take his eyes off her. He’d spent so much time alone after he and Alyssa had broken up and now that he had feelings for Celaena, he wasn’t really sure what to do. He knew what he wanted to do, but he found that he was extremely nervous.
When Celaena returned with the drinks, he took one, thanking her then shrugged in response to her question, “Not much really. Just been going to school, work and patrolling. Nothing really new on my end.”
“Still just like every other teenage boy then?” Celaena joked and winked at him. “So uh...are you doing anything now?” she asked nervously, tucking some hair behind her ear as she did.
“If every other teenage boy is also fighting crime at night.” Damian smirked, watching Celaena as she moved her hair, “Aside from sitting here with you, I’ve got nothing planned. Why?” He was curious as to what the blond had in mind.
"Ok, well there's an after show party at the director's house. Would you like to come with me?" Celaena offered as she looked at him hopefully.
Damian was pretty sure that he would be the only non dancer at this after party, but saying no meant he’d have to go home alone while saying yes meant that he got to spend more time with Celaena, so the answer was a no brainer, “Sure. Am I dressed alright for it?” He had worn a pair of dress trousers and a button up shirt to the ballet, wanting to make a good impression with Celaena.
Standing up, she took his hand with a bright smile as she drew him up out of his seat. "You'll be the most handsome man there," she told him confidently. "And you'll be on the arm of the best ballerina in the room so really, how could you say no?" She laughed.
Damian smiled as he stood, holding her hand, “Everyone will be insanely jealous of the both of us.” While part of him was worried that as soon as they got to this party Celaena would go off and talk dancing with her dancer friends, but at the same time, he was looking forward to spending time with her. “Lets go.”
