Who: Lexi & Klaus What: Lexi's turns all undead and vampy, Klaus is sent to babysit. When: Backdated to March 25th. Where: Condo of two blondes and one ginger. Rating/Warnings: Vampirism? Status: Complete!
The last thing Lexi had expected when sheâd woken up that morning was to almost catch on fire, but seeing as how sheâd left her blinds open when sheâd fallen asleep the night before, turning into a vampire overnight meant that sheâd woken up smoking. Luckily, with her new superhuman speed, sheâd gotten out of the direct sunlight pretty quickly then gotten one of the pieces of daylight jewelry that Merlin had made her so that she wouldnât be stuck in one place until the sun moved.
After taking care of the whole not bursting into flames thing, Lexiâs next order of business was to quench the gnawing hunger that she felt. Luckily for Lexi, she already lived with a vampire so she at least had a stash of blood for now. Sheâd intended to only drink a bag or two, but wound up drinking almost all of Carolineâs stash. This had led her to send her roommate a text, if for no other reason than to let her know that sheâd finally turned. Lexi had been expecting it for some time now, so she wasnât really freaked out and thanks to Elijah teaching her control in the dreams she wasnât at too much of a risk of going out and biting the first person she saw. Of course it was still a possibility, but she was using all her willpower not to leave the house. At least not until she knew for sure that sheâd be safe around others.
Good thing Nik and Lexi were actually on good terms, thanks to their little history together, and when Caroline urged him to check up on her, he was ready to go with bloodbags tucked securely within a bag. The abruptness of her transition unnerved him - it was odd how things like this happened, and he knew very well that his transition was in progress. Slowly but surely, and heâd been coming close to accepting that for the most part - yet hadnât told Caroline, hadnât even told his brothers.
His knuckles knocked on the door, hard and loud, though with her new heightened senses, she might already know he was out there before he even made a sound. âLexi. Itâs me. Open up.â
Lexi had indeed heard Klaus before he reached the door, but until he spoke she hadnât known whether it was actually him or the mailman coming up the walk and was, of course, relieved when it turned out to be Klaus. Hand on the doorknob, Lexi closed her eyes and gathered her control so as not to try and attack Klaus as soon as she opened the door. The last thing she wanted to do was accidently kill her friendâs boyfriend.
Once she was sure she would be okay and more importantly that Klaus would be okay, she opened the door, âSo, youâre my knight in shining armor this afternoon, huh?â She smirked even as the sound of his heart reached her ears. As confident as she was that she could control herself, it was a little different with him right there. âCome in.â
âYou look rather well for a suddenly turned creature of the night,â Nik observed, both brows curiously raised as he surveyed her in one sweep of his gaze. He was familiar with the humble abode that belonged to the girls - and heâd been around for the initial move and Annaâs move to take over Katherineâs old room. Curiosity made him wonder just where the little kitten had run off to, but good riddance.
After a quick scan of the inside, he turned to face her. âHow do you feel? Iâm assuming ravenous.â That was when he opened the bag and showed her the contents of the inside - plenty of bloodbags. Considering his brothers were vampires, his girlfriend was a vampire, he had to make sure there was enough.
âI might look well, but Iâm using all my willpower not to bite you. Do you know what your blood sounds like rushing through your veins right now?â To anyone else that probably would have been a really really strange thing to say, but to someone who had the same dreams and was of the same species, well more or less in Klausâ case, would get it, âAlso, did I ever tell you that it was Elijah who turned me in the dreams? Picture of control right there. Makes sense that I was always the one to kick Stefanâs butt back onto the straight and narrow.â
As he showed Lexi the contents of the bag, her eyes changed and veins appeared around them for a moment before she got control of herself again, âWhat does that tell you?â Reaching inside, she pulled out one of the blood bags and used the tube attached as a straw and began drinking it only to stop a moment later and glance over at Klaus, âExcuse my horrible table manners, but yeah, Iâm still starving.â
âIâm flattered that youâre doing all you can to keep my jugular in tact,â Nik snorted, but he understood the hunger - he felt in the dreams, even felt it now, that subtle thirst for something carnal and red, iron and metallic. Thinking about it made him almost taste it but he handled the self-control well, though not like there was much to hold back yet.
Elijah, though, being Lexiâs sire? News to him, though it must have explained a few things anyway, and Nik set the bag with the rest of the blood vessels aside and watched her devour the contents in all her classy, ravenous glory. âCaroline almost ate me after she turned - and not the pleasurable way couples tend to do eating, Iâll have you now,â he mused, the corner of his lips pushed into a smirk. âThis isnât the strangest part of my life here. But go on, continue, can I get you a napkin?â
Or a paper towel, which he so generously got for her. Lexi might be a messy eater.
âWell, I figure Caroline wouldnât be too happy if I accidently killed you. Then again, if I bit you, I could always compel you to forget.â Lexi smirked a little, winking at Klaus as she took another pull on the blood bag. She had drank the others so quickly, considering how hungry sheâd been when sheâd first woken up, but she had a feeling that if she was going to get this whole vampire blood lust thing under control, she should work on not draining the bag in seconds.
âCaroline almost bit our friend when she first turned too. That night was pretty crazy.â She said, taking the paper towel from Klaus and dabbed at her mouth just in case there was anything there. âThanks again for this. Youâre really brave coming here.â She was a newborn vamp and just cause she had a little more control than most, that didnât make her safe. Not completely.
Oh, yes, Lexi - flaunt your newfound vampiric prowess. Nik wasnât far behind, but it wasnât something heâd boast about. Let him come into his full hybrid-self and ripping out her heart would seem like childâs play, easy and effortless. And then there was the conscious, human part of him that gave himself a mental kick and a scold to stop thinking that way. Dreaming of Klaus was turning him into Klaus, sarcastic and ruthless and void of any emotion aside from bitterness and rage.
âYou talk big for a vampire with one of the largest conscience to exist - you were, what, Stefanâs mentor for decades? His sponsor when it came to his blood addiction?â Ripper Stefan was fun. Klaus was responsible for making him one again, it was fantastic - old brothers of the heart actively being menaces to humanity at-large, it was truly a bonding experience. âI think Iâve had enough experience in handling vampires at this rate, considering half of my siblings seem to suffer the same state of being undead.â
Lexi was unaware of what Klaus was thinking at that moment and had she known, she would have certainly been on her guard. She never met Klaus in the dreams, but sheâd heard about him and knew that Rose and Trevor had been running from him so she knew that Klaus was pretty badass in the dreams. âYeah, I guess you could call me that. Got him back on the straight and narrow twice.â She didnât enjoy Ripper Stefan cause that wasnât the Stefan she knew and had been determined to help him whenever he had slipped. âWell, you are the Original family.â She finished off the bag and wrapped it in the paper towel so that it wasnât just laying out there on the table. âHowâre they handling being vampires?â
âTheyâve gotten used to it, it seems,â Nik shrugged. He wasnât aware of any murderous shenanigans Finn and Kol were up to. Especially not Finn. Kol, on the other hand, was unstable - Tatia had shattered his heart to pieces and with the emotional amplification of being a vampire, he guessed the emotions from it were practically unbearable.
So far heâd been more suicidal than anything. Good thing it was very difficult to kill an original vampire, so Klaus hadnât been too concerned. It was best to let him mourn and go through the motions of dealing with a break up - or divorce? More accurately a divorce, he supposed, despite their short-lived matrimony. How sad.
âYou do seem well kept together, despite the transition. Caroline hardly spoke to me in days. And then I cut myself, she had me for a snack - but her control was impressive, she stopped before it went too far. Now she enjoys it. I canât entirely blame her. Welcome to the top of the food chain, Lexi.â
Lexi may have seemed like she had it all under control, but she didnât feel as controlled as she did in the dreams. She was using all of her willpower not to rush Klaus and bite him or not to leave the apartment and bite the first person she saw. Her hearing was magnified, so not only could she hear the blood rushing through Klausâ veins, but she could hear people outside and not just the ones right outside the apartment. âItâs gonna take awhile before I have the kind of control that I have in the dreams, but Iâm doing my best.â Lexi wouldnât be surprised if she had good days and bad days at first, but considering sheâd just turned, she was having a pretty good day.
âYou will do fine,â he assured, arms crossed with a grin and nod of his head. Sure, perhaps a few hiccups could occur - it was natural - but she wasnât among strangers, and Caroline had grasped it enough to provide assistance once she and Anna returned from their all-girl spring break fling with otters. âAnd you have me to make sure you donât have an impulsive night around town. Itâd either be me or Damon.â Now that grin became a smirk. âTake your pick.â
At the mention of Damonâs name Lexi made a face and stood up, picking up the empty blood bag wrapped in the paper towel and headed towards the kitchen to throw it away, âI wouldnât choose Damon if he was the last person on the planet.â Damon was still her least favorite person in the world, âSo, I guess youâre stuck with me.â She smirked at him, glad that if she didnât have Stefan around, she had Klaus and Caroline.
âDamon could be worse,â Nik expressed, shoulders shrugged. This Damon had been surprisingly more stable, though he was sure most people thought that about him too, considering heâd yet to dagger his siblings and confine them into a coffin for centuries until his temper tantrums finally eased. Heâd robbed Finn of nine hundred years. Kol, well - heâd lost count, but not as bad. Kol was a trouble child, chaotic and more impulsive than he was. At least he was grieving like a regular person instead of going on a feeding spree, thatâd be quite problematic and itâd give the entire family a headache.
Putting it lightly.
âSince the girls are gone, I can stay until they come back. I donât think Caroline would mind too much if I camped out in her bedroom?â Heâd ask, to be sure, but the consensus would likely be that they didnât want Lexi to spend her first couple days as a newborn bloodsucker by her lonesome.
Lexiâs brows rose slightly and she smirked at Klaus, âLike a slumber party? Itâs too bad Stefan isnât around cause then Iâd have to invite him over too.â While growing up, Lexi and Stefan had slept over each otherâs houses quite a lot until they had reached puberty and then their parents hadnât thought it was a very good idea; not that anything had ever happened between them aside from sharing their first kiss. That first kiss thought had proven that there was nothing between them but friendship. âCan we watch movies and order chinese food? I promise not to eat the delivery person.â She was joking of course. While the thought of warm blood was nice, the thought of killing someone was not.
âMovies and chinese food,â Nik repeated. Doable. Safe. Itâd keep her occupied, would allow his eye to stay on her in case instinct took over. Heâd have Kol and Finn on-call in case something happened that he couldnât handle, but Lexi had been one of the good ones - meaning sheâd drown herself in self-loathing and righteousness if she even nibbled on a wrist. Consciences were messy things.
Good thing heâd left a couple articles of clothing in Carolineâs room, somewhere. âFine. Iâll order Chinese. You keep away from the delivery boy,â he scolded, a finger pointed accusingly. âNo nip or lip. Otherwise Iâll mix vervain in water, keep it in a spray bottle and condition you like a cat.â
