Cereza pushed her glasses up her nose, and quirked her brow a little. "Robbing the cradle, are we? That's not something I'd have pegged you for."
"When I was your age you were barely legal," her lunch date answered. Maleficent leaned back in her seat and Cereza idly wondered if her cheekbones could actually cut something.
"Don't be cheeky." Cereza lifted her glass to her lips and sipped. "I'm sensing a pattern with you. Corrupting the innocent youth. And an employee. Scandalous." A pause, then she laughed. "I love it."
It was Mal's turn to quirk an eyebrow. "You were hardly innocent." Though they'd never been lovers. At that time in her life, lovers and sex were the least of her concerns.
"I was a bit prudish in my youth, Mara." She tapped her finger on the edge of her glass. "So what is it about her, then? Is she flexible? Enthusiastic? Is it the whole innocence thing?"
"I am not sharing the details of my love life with you." Maleficent rolled her eyes, and briefly wondered why she was putting up with this. "But I will tell you that I care for her a great deal."
Cereza smiled. "That sounds very sweet. You're getting soft. It's rather adorable, if you ask me. Which you haven't." She held up a finger, as if to head off Maleficent's protest. "It was kind of funny, running into you. I had no idea I moved into the same building as you."
"It was a shock," she deadpanned back. "New York not exciting enough?"
"I was in Dubai last, actually."
"Property?"
"That too." Cereza's smile turned positively devilish. "It's probably too much to ask if you know any good places to have a little fun around here. Fun is anathema to you. You're less of a bitch than the last time we talked." This 'Aurora' was good for her, she decided.
"I can name a few places," Maleficent retorted. She could feel a migraine coming on, and honestly had to resist the urge to curse Cereza with something. Like acne. Ooh that was a good one...
"Great, fantastic." She clapped her hands together. She’d already put together a list of places she wanted to look into, and had another list of shelters and charities. Sure, she spent money like it was going out of style on herself, but she did have that nasty altruistic streak. Speaking of shopping. “We should go shopping. Your style is a little outdated.”
“Outdated? My fashion is not that outdated.” Mal looked offended at the very notion.
“It’s 2012 at the latest.” Cereza lifted her hand for the check. “Come on, darling. I’ve been in California a week and I’ve hardly spent a thing. Besides…” Her finger tapped on the rim of her glasses. “I’m sure you want to dress up pretty for your girl.”
“I do not need to dress up pretty.” Maleficent found herself getting to her feet anyway. Someone had to keep an eye on Cereza, and she supposed it might as well be her. “But I could use a little break, I suppose.”
“That’s my girl.” Cereza dropped a hundred on the table for the tip, which was much more than the meal itself was. “Lets go!”
