Who: Sharon Carter and Lexi Branson When: Recently. Before Sharon's baby gender post. Where: Supermarket What: Minor shopping car collision Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
Sharon was in the supermarket, pushing her cart. She had to pick up corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, and carrots. She was planning a St. Patrick’s Day meal, regardless of what day it was. She had a cart half full of groceries, slowly wandering around the store and putting anything that looked delicious into the cart. Later she could claim that the baby was shopping.
Grocery shopping was Lexi’s least favorite kind of shopping. It was boring and tedious and she always ended up getting junk food that she didn’t really need or didn’t end up eating. However, now that she was living with Caroline and Anna there was a chance that one of them would eat the snacks she bought so they wouldn’t go to waste.
Turning down an aisle, her attention was focused on something on one of the shelves and she didn’t notice the other cart until she’s practically slammed into it. “Oh my god! I’m so sorry.”
Sharon jumped a little at the sound of two carts colliding. But she shook her head. “No no, it’s my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going,” she explained. How’d she get into the salad dressing aisle anyway? “Are you all right?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. And I wasn’t watched where I was going either. Looks like we we’re both at fault.” Lexi ran a hand through her long blond hair as she watched the other blond. She’d extremely familiar to her, like she’d met her somewhere before and then it dawned on her, “You’re a friend of Aramis’, aren’t you?” Lexi might have drank a bit at Aramis’ birthday party, but she hadn’t drank enough to completely forget some of the people who had been there. She might not have talked to the blond at the party, but she recalled seeing her there.
“Yes,” Sharon said, brightening at the sound of Aramis’ name. “I’m Sharon. I work with Aramis.” She said. “You were at his birthday party, right?” Sharon didn’t have the excuse that she’d been drinking the night of Aramis’ birthday party, but she certainly had the pregnancy brain excuse. She knew the woman looked familiar, but couldn’t quite place her name.
Lexi nodded, smiling, “I was. I’m Lexi.” Lexi hadn’t really been paying attention to what anyone else was drinking at the party so she hadn’t noticed that Sharon hadn’t been drinking. Nor did she know the reason why she wouldn’t have been drinking. “Aramis certainly knows how to throw a party.”
It was probably fairly obvious in the light of day today why Sharon wasn’t drinking. She was twenty weeks along now, and the baby bump was pretty obvious under her maternity clothes. “Hi, Lexi,” she responded, smiling in a friendly way. “He sure does. Were you hungover for days afterward?” She asked, the smile turning into a smirk. “I had to bring hangover cures to all my coworkers.”
It might have been obvious that Sharon was pregnant, but as far as Lexi was concerned, even if a woman looked like she was about to pop, she still didn’t comment on it until the woman mentioned it herself. She didn’t want to accidentally insult someone if it turned out that they weren’t pregnant after all. “Only the next day and it was good that I had the day off cause hungover Rapunzel wouldn’t have been good.”
Lexi was a very smart lady. Sharon would definitely have been insulted if someone called her pregnant when she wasn’t. “Oh, that’s right,” Sharon said, remembering now. She’d blame her lack of memory on the pregnancy, and she’d be right most of the time. “You work at Disneyland, right? I think I may have overheard… or someone mentioned…” She grinned brightly, one hand coming subconsciously to her bump. “I have a feeling we’re going to be there a lot in a couple of years.”
Lexi nodded, smiling, “Yup. I still work at Disneyland.” Lexi hadn’t planned on working at Disneyland as long as she had, but she genuinely loved her job and couldn’t imagine not working at the Happiest Place on Earth. “Well, take it from someone who works there, a kid is never too young for Disney.” Lexi had seen plenty of families there with babies and she’d also heard people say that they wanted to wait till their kids were older so that they’d remember the trip, but as far as Lexi was concerned, it was the parents who would remember their babies first trip and that was even better.
“Maybe I’ll have to go once or twice again before the baby gets here,” Sharon grinned. “You know, to make sure it’s still as magical as I remember from when I was a kid.” She couldn’t get enough of the happiest place on Earth, really. Who could? Besides, going to Disneyland was about the whole family, not just the baby. Maybe she’d have to drag Aramis and Porthos along with her. Make a family day out of it. Hopefully not feel too much like a third wheel.
“Take it from me, it’s still just as magical. Might even be more magical now.” One of Lexi’s favorite things about her job was the magic and making people smile, “If you do decide to go, let me know. I can maybe pull some strings.” And by pull some strings she meant use her compulsion. She didn’t do it often, but every now and then she’d use it to get advantage.
“Really?” Sharon asked, brightening considerably. “I would love that. And, even if you can’t, you have to let me know if you’re working so I can come by and get my picture taken with you.” She grinned happily.
“Well, just let me know and we’ll see what strings I can pull.” Lexi smirked at the other blond. She was curious as to who the father of her baby was since she hadn’t seen her come to the party with anyone, but she wasn’t that nosy. Yes, Lexi could ask too personal questions sometimes, but even she knew where the line was with certain people. “Well, I should let you get back to your shopping.”
“I definitely will.” Sharon was smiling now, excited about the prospect of heading to the Happiest Place on Earth. She’d have to figure out who to drag along with her. Aramis and Porthos? Or Veronica? What a laugh, imagining Veronica Mars in Disneyland. There was always Peggy, too. It might be nice to spend a day with her cousin, watching shows and meeting characters. There were still a few rides she could do, even in her current condition. “Thanks, Lexi. It was nice talking to you.” She added, genuinely. “I’ll see you around.”
