Who: Elphaba and Glinda What: Experimenting Where: An abandoned building in the OC When: Early March Status: Complete Rating Low
Elphaba looked up at the building as she pulled up to the abandoned building. Securing her car, she hopped out and locked it after grabbing her bag and Grimmerie. Walking up to the building, she pushed the front door open and walked into the building. It wasn’t in the condition where it looked like it would fall down at the slightest gust of wind, but it definitely needed some work before someone could move into the place. It was perfect for what she and Glinda needed it for. Moving into what remained of the front room, she set down her bag and waited for her friend to arrive.
Glinda was held up by a little bit of traffic leaving the town but she wasn’t too far behind Elphie. Arriving she saw her friends car and bounced a little as she entered the abandoned building, it really was perfect for their needs.
“Elphie?” she called out, excitement obvious in her voice.
“In here,” Elphaba called out and waited for her friend to come and join her. “What do you think of this place?” she asked, still looking around the room.
“It’s amazing. Absolutely perfect. How did you find it?” Glinda asked entering the room and moving to give Elphaba a hug.
“Google is a wonderful thing,” Elphaba smiled as she accepted Glinda’s hug. “There are websites and forums dedicated to finding abandoned or derelict buildings. Mostly because people think they’re haunted and want to see ghosts, but there’s a few which list them for filming locations and the like,” she stepped back from the hug and looked around the room with her hands on her hips, feeling proud of herself. “I had quite a fun evening searching for this place,” she laughed. “I don’t think anyone’s going to miss this place if we demolish it and let’s face it, anything is an improvement on what it currently is,” she joked.
“Ah of course. You have the google fun” Glinda replied with a laugh, “Well you did incredibly well it really is wonderful. The best we could have asked for. So where do we start?” she asked practically bouncing.
“Well, I was thinking of trying to clean the dust and grime off of everything first,” Elphaba replied, walking back over to where she’d left her bag and the Grimmerie. Picking the book up, she flicked to the first page she’d marked with a bookmark. “Here, I found this spell which is similar to what we want, but I think we can try and modify it to be exactly what we need. So instead of saying this part here,” she brought the book over to Glinda and pointed at the text she meant. “We could try this instead, what do you think?” she asked her friend, pointing down to a piece of paper which she’d written a few words on.
“Cleaning sounds good, that would be handy” Glinda nodded, following her friend and nodding as she spoke. “Well okay, if you think it’ll work I’m sure it will. You’re the more gifted one of the two of us after all” she smiled and squeezed Elphaba’s arm.
“Yeah, well, let’s hope it works out better here than it did there,” Elphaba gave Glinda a worried look before clearing her throat and turning back to the book as Glinda hooked arms with her. Speaking the words on the page with concentration, she furrowed her brow and clenched the book tightly in her hands. Please don’t go wrong, please don’t go wrong, she thought over and over in her head. As she finished speaking the dust seemed to lift from the surfaces, then, like a dust cloud, whooshed towards the front door, which Glinda had luckily left open, and out.
Sharing a stunned look with Glinda, she rushed outside to see where the dust had gone to.
Only to find it decorating the front of her car like a large splash. Sighing with mild irritation, she thought about cleaning that up when they’d finished. At least she hadn’t hurt Glinda.
Glinda was very impressed with the way the dust lifted itself off the surfaces and out the door. "Oh" she said in surprise as they followed and found it plastered over Elphie's car, "Well at least it's out of the building, a car is easier to clean right?" she said cheerfully looking on the bright side.
“Rather the car than you,” Elphaba smiled at her before gesturing to go back into the house. “Come on, let’s go try some magic painting,” she grinned and headed back into the house.
