As her dreams progressed, Vilya found herself growing increasingly curious regarding the magic she was capable of. There were countless tomes meant to teach the user new spells, and Vilya read each one as she found it in the world, beginning to amass a large number of spells in all the various schools that existed in the realm where her dreams took place. One morning upon waking up, Vilya had thought to take the names down; Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion and Restoration. Having yet to make it to the College of Winterhold, her understanding of each of the schools was limited to only what she could determine on her own experience, though the majority of them were not difficult to discern. At the end of the work day, Vilya decided to go to where Zatanna had announced to be the location of the Magic Guild instead of home. Her spell casting was haphazard and uncoordinated at best though the version of herself in the dreams picked up and used new spells with efficacy and accuracy. The abundance of magic in Skyrim and its connection with the land and with her body did not quite exist here and there was a strange kind of hollowness in her because of it. It would not do her well to dwell on that emptiness, as it was something she would not be able to remedy. If Neal was right about this version of the world, that they existed here as second chances, holding herself back by lingering on the past would only hurt her in the long run. The inside of the hidden sanctuary seemed empty to her, though Vilya had been too focused on her own thoughts to have noticed another person if they were in fact there. The area was more expansive than she had anticipated and it was not difficult for her to locate a room that was empty and open to practise in. Standing in the middle of the room, Vilya held her hands out in front of her, watching as a faint blue glow wrapped around her right hand. Tightening her hand into a fist, she concentrated on the spell, feeling her energy focus around her hand and fuelling the little spell. Vilya then flicked her hand open and away from her, watching with open excitement as a glowing ball of light hovered harmlessly near her. The spell was called Candlelight and she had only learned it two nights ago, but there it was, brightly illuminating the area around her, highlighting her wide smile. Perhaps it was foolish to be so proud of something so small but it had been successful and it only fuelled her desire to continue to learn and practice. Vilya switched the blue glowing spell in her hand to the burning orange of the Flames spell. The last time she had tried to use this, her lack of control had nearly caused her to set her house ablaze and she was reasonably reluctant to try again, regardless of the fact there was nothing flammable in this particular room. Instead, Vilya stood, silently regarding the magical fire as is danced between her fingers, slightly warm. The hovering ball of light followed her as she began to pace the floor, debating whether or not to attempt to use the fire spell again. |
