Well. Sort of. Alright, so the words had been 'trial and error,' which was far different from 'risk,' but Troy left it there.

Okay. So how was he going to make this better? "She also said you had feelings for me. Which is wonderful, because ah. Reciprocated." It was a strange world where Troy would rather talk feelings than anything else, but this was suddenly a world with body-possessing Phoenixes in it.
He would gladly talk feelings if it would help Jean not freak out. Sadly? He was probably not being helpful.
