Who: Periwinkle and Tinkerbell
When: Late January
Where: The Garage
What: Back when Tink had a ripped wing, and had to work long hours because the Old Man was in the hospital
Rating/Warnings: Low/None
Status: Complete

Tink was at the shop. She hadn’t told the Old Man about the attack, or the guys who had broken car windows on the lot. She was communicating with the insurance company, trying to figure out how to reimburse her customers for the missing and damaged property. Though, many of her customers had been really understanding. Besides, it was in the contract they signed that the garage wasn’t responsible for lost, damaged or stolen property.

Still, it was a lot for her to handle, especially considering the Old Man was in the hospital, and she was still wrapped up with an ace bandage thing around her chest, trying to keep her wing from moving and ripping further.

Tink was sitting in the office chair, on hold with the insurance company, leaning back as far as the thing would go and spinning around in circles.

There were two reasons that Peri was walking into the garage. The main reason was to be able to spend some time with her sister. For a little while there she wasn't sure how to act anymore. If she even wanted to see her sister for a bit. Not only sister in the dreams but shockingly in real life too. What better way to hang out was to bring deliciousness.

The second reason was far more serious. It could be described in two words.... broken wings.

With a bag filled with enough food to feed a small army she walked into the garage. Small steps as she tried to guess where her sister was.

Finally calling out, "Tink!"

Tink jumped a little at the sound of her name being called out. She sat up a bit and looked through the little window that connected the office with the rest of the garage. Seeing her sister gave her a little relief, but her wings were still broken. She was in a mood.

She climbed up from the chair and hung up the phone, then popped through the doorway into the garage. “Peri! Hey. Over here.”

As she was calling out she was hoping that her sister was still there. She was sure that Tink would text if she decided to leave work. It might be hard with all the extra hours that Tink said that she had to work.

A bright smile grew on her face as she heard and turned to see her sister. Relief ran through her. She shouldn't even have thought that Tink would have left. Enough so that it caused her to laugh a little as she walked towards her sister.

"I brought lunch," she said with the large bags.

“You’re my hero.” Tink said. Seeing Peri was great. But there was still a sadness around the corners of Tink’s eyes. She smiled, sure, but her smile didn’t quite go all the way. “I appreciate it. I’m pretty much stuck here open to close. I think the Old Man’s dying.”

Maybe it was because they were sisters or that they had become friends that Peri was able to feel the sadness behind the smile. It was unmistakable. It had caused her own smile to fade slightly as she stepped near Tink.

"Oh Tink," she said as she set the bag on the floor. Without a second thought she wrapped her arms around Tink.

She took a half step away to look Tink in the face. “I’m sure he’ll be fine,” she said as she tried to comfort her sister.

After returning the hug, Tink gave a half-hearted shrug. “He’s a dick, really,” she offered, half-joking. The Old Man really wasn’t very pleasant, but he’d given her a job where no one else would. But she was comforted by the hug, nonetheless.

It was mostly the wings thing that was bothering Tink. She didn’t want to come out and say it, though. She wasn’t sure she wanted to talk about it at all. “What’d you bring for lunch?” She asked, brightening just a little at the prospect of food.

"Sure, but he is your dick," she said as she tried to hold back the laughter. She wasn't sure if a joke was appropriate but she thought it would help lighten the mood. She didn't want it to seem so heavy. It wasn't like Tink didn't have enough to worry about.

She walked into the office with the bag of food. "I got Chinese," she said looking down at the bag. "Enough for five of you." And another five of her. It was just a lot of food but she tended to go overboard when she was hungry.

“You can keep the leftovers,” she said setting the bags down.

The joke made Tink smile a bit more genuinely. She glanced at her sister, so thankful that she had Peri in this world as well as in the Dreams. “Yeah, he’s kinda a dick uncle or step dad or something.” She shrugged gently.

“God, thank you.” Tink said. There was a nice sitting area in the office, where they could settle on a sofa and put the food on the coffee table between them. “I’m starving. All six of me.” She said, and flopped down onto the sofa. “You’re eating, too, right?”

Peri was glad that the joke was taken well. It would have been bad if it had upset Tink even more. She wouldn't know what to do after that. There wasn't really much to come back from a bad joke. Especially in this situation.

"Definitely," she said as she sat next to Tink. "Just there will probably be a lot of leftovers. You can keep here in case you get hungry later." With her working so much she might not have time to get out of the garage and get something to eat.

“We’ve got a fridge.” Tink said, giving her sister a tiny smile. She was thankful to have Peri around. The two got along so well in the Dreams, it was a relief to know that they got along together here just as well. She started opening boxes and dug out a fork to take a big bite. She almost moaned as she chewed--the food tasted that good. “You’re my savior.”

Strange things happened in Orange County.

Peri didn't know why she got along so well with Tink. It wasn't as if they had known each other long. It was only a couple of months before she found out that they were actually related. Not just in the dreams but in real life as well. Which was an adjustment for the only child. At least it was more like a friend waiting in the wings in case anything should happen.

"I got a little bit of everything," she said opening another one of the boxes as well. She didn't know what Tink would be in the mood for.

Tink picked up one of the boxes at random and dug in with her plastic fork. “So, tell me something happy and distract me.” She was miserable that she couldn’t fly at the moment. Even the pixie dust wasn’t enough to get her up in the air.

Something happy?

For some reason it took Peri a second to think of something that seemed happy. Then she remembered her exciting news. "My show got picked up for a second season," she said with a bright smile. "A whole season." Because this season had only been thirteen episodes. It was a trial season but the ratings had been good.

She hoped that was what Tink was looking for. It certainly seemed like something happy and something great for her.

Tink gasped a little between bites. That was good news! Happy news! Not the kind of thing that Tink had to force or to fake, too! She grinned. “Peri! That’s excellent!” She said, and clapped her sister on the shoulder. “Good work stuff is very, very good news!”

Peri wasn't sure if Tink would be able to show the excitement, with what was happening. Apparently that wasn't the case. Something that made her very happy because she wanted to share it with her. Since they had become so close and then finding out they were actually sisters.

"I think I actually jumped for joy when I was told," she said with a beaming smile.

“I would have,” Tink agreed, beaming at her sister. She was so proud! Even with all the crap going on in her life, it was nice to have something happy to think about. To get excited over. “That’s wonderful!”

"I wasn't going to tell you after I heard about your boss," Peri didn't want to seem like she was rubbing her happiness in. "I'm glad you asked." Because it was so hard not to be happy about it.

“It’s totally okay.” Tink said, shaking her head. “Now eat with me. We’ll plan a proper celebration, too.”

There was no way that Peri was going to say no. After all she was the one that brought all the food to the garage. Not about to just sit there and watch her sister eat it all. She wasn't even sure that would be possible in one sitting with all the food that she had bought and brought in.

"Okay," she said as she pushed the sadness out of her mind.

She started eating the portion that she had grabbed. It was so good. She wasn't sure if it was actually because it was good or that she hadn't eaten most of the day. Either way she didn't really care.
