Lalna could be a complete idiot sometimes. There was no denying that, and today was a perfect example of the fact.
It could have been avoided, had he not been so lazy about doing the dishes. Or had he not smoked two bowls before deciding to cook. Cooking was barely doable in his tiny loft anyway, what with the lack of an oven, but Lalna was more than willing to experiment and work with what he had. He had decided that it was a great idea to try to make a curry using only his hot plate, and upon noticing that all of his cooking knives were dirty, well... What was more fun? Doing dishes, or cutting the chicken and veggies using his machete? Obviously the latter.
It wasn't nearly as fun ten minutes later, when he accidentally touched the burning hot plate and dropped said machete in his surprise. For a moment, he thought he'd avoided a disaster, as the blade clattered to the ground nearby. Apparently, though, his brain just hadn't yet registered that he should have been feeling pain, because within seconds his foot was in the middle of a pool of blood, and then he felt it. It hadn't flat out impaled his foot, a fact for which he was thankful, but the machete had hit the side of his foot enough to leave quite the nick, which was now bleeding profusely.
He realized soon enough that this was not the kind of cut that could be dealt with using only a band-aid and some bacitracin. While he managed to get the bleeding to stop, (or at least, to slow), it was more than apparent that he would need stitches.
This is why he found himself, shortly thereafter, at the hospital, awaiting a doctor to look at his wound. When Thor walked in and spoke to him, he gave a bit of an embarrassed smile and avoided eye contact. “Erm... yeah. It's here.” He said softly, bringing his foot up to show off the gauze covered slice that a nurse had seen to at least well enough to ensure it wouldn't get infected.
He took a deep breath through his teeth as he pulled back the gauze, closing his eyes tightly. “Probably at least twelve stitches, right? I was accident prone as a kid, I'm no stranger to this kind of crap.”
