The wedding ceremony was cute. Of course it was just pomp and circumstance, since Rachel and Kevin had been married for a year already, but Tony enjoyed being there with his friends to celebrate their marriage. Tony thought Pepper looked absolutely amazing, and was by her side the entire day--following her around like a puppy in love, one hand resting against the small of her back even when they were talking to different people.
He offered her a glass of champagne and a plate with a slice of wedding cake on it. “Then dancing?”
Even if they had been married for a year Pepper still found it very moving and had leaned her head against Tony throughout the ceremony. She had to admit she may have let herself imagine it was her once or twice. She rather enjoyed the attention he was lavishing upon her.
“Perfect” she said with a smile, raising the fork to his lips offering a taste of cake.
Tony was kind of on a healthy-eating kick, though he hadn’t stopped (or even slowed) the drinking. And he would probably make an exception for wedding cake. Though, he didn’t have a slice yet. This was the best of the best, obviously. He dipped a finger into the frosting on Pepper’s cake, and tasted it.
“Rach looked beautiful,” he commented with a smirk, more than content to simply watch Pepper eat.
Pepper appreciated the healthy-eating kick, though without slowing the drinking, she did think it was limited in it’s helpfulness. But she smiled as he stole the frosting. It was an amazing cake, absolutely the tastiest she had eaten in a while.
“She did” Pepper agreed, “And ridiculously happy”
“And Kev, too.” Tony said. He leaned forward to steal a quick kiss from Pepper’s lips. Then a second one, a little longer, tasting the frosting between them. He finally pulled back, vaguely aware that there may have been one or two people watching them through the crowd.
Pepper returned the kisses happily and when he pulled away she smiled. Placing her glass and cake on a passing waiters tray she took Tony's hand, "Dance with me" she requested.
Tony didn’t have to be told twice. He laced his fingers with hers, setting his own things aside, and then followed her out onto the dance floor. Fast dances, slow dances, Tony could do them all. He was a pretty good dancer either way. Though it was hard when he wanted nothing more than to let his hands wander all over Pepper in her amazing dress.
Pepper’s dress was pretty amazing, but then it was purposefully so. She wasn’t unaware of her effect on him and she was slowly accepting and enjoying using that power. It was always to their mutual benefit anyway. Her arms were around his neck and her head rested on his shoulder.
Tony was quiet with her for a long time as they danced to an appropriately slow song. After what felt like an eternity of bliss, he cleared his throat. “You think we should have one of these?” He asked, quietly. He meant a wedding.
“I think it would be nice” Pepper replied quietly, “But only if it was something we both wanted” she added because she’d marry him in a heartbeat but didn’t want him to feel pressured.
Tony’s arms tightened around her. He knew he wanted it. He just wasn’t sure when or how or with what … pomp and circumstance. His lips came down to lower against her shoulder, hugging her against him as they gently swayed to the music. “I suppose we’ll have to go get you a ring.”
Pepper laughed a little, “If you think you’re getting away with that as a proposal Tony Stark you can think again” she told him though her tone was more affectionate amusement than anything else.
Tony chuckled softly. “Damn. I’d get away with it, too, if it wasn’t for you nosey kids.” He kissed her skin, then lifted his head to kiss her cheek, too.
Letting out a little puff of laughter, even though she shouldn’t as it only encouraged him she decided there was only one thing to do and she kissed him properly.
Tony returned the kiss, thankful that she enjoyed his sense of humor. He lifted both hands to cup her face as he did so, then pressed a gentle kiss to the tip of her nose. “Let’s go home.”
Pepper nodded, “Best idea ever” she told him placing her own hands over his and smiling.
