With everything that had been on Jeremy’s mind lately, he hadn’t been sure what he was going to do for Myrcella for Valentine’s Day until the week of. He’d told her that he had a surprise planned, but wouldn’t tell her what exactly it was. So after sending her roses in class on Friday, Jeremy set to work so that he’d have everything ready for Saturday. Saturday afternoon he’d called her and told her to be ready around five and then he’d headed over to her place about an hour before. However, instead of parking out front, he’d parked near the beach entrance then walked down the beach to the house and slipped into the war tent that her uncle had left when he and his boyfriend had moved. Renly had taken the books and maps and anything else from Westeros, but had left the tent itself, the rather large bed and carpets that adorned the floor. Once inside, he had started to unpack the picnic basket he’d brought with him. After everything was set up, he lit the various candles around the tent then, satisfied that everything was perfect, he slipped out of the tent and went up to the back door and knocked.
Honestly Myrcella wouldn’t have minded if Jeremy didn’t have anything planned, she knew he’d had a lot on his mind lately and his dreams had been worrying him. She’d suggested just getting a takeaway and staying in but it seemed he had other ideas.
The roses had been beautiful and while she’d been teased a little by her classmates they were all very jealous. Which she knew had been part of his intention. Having just been told to be ready for around five she had just finished her make-up when there was a knock at the back door. Wondering what was going on she moved to open it and grinned happily when Jeremy was stood there, “Hey you” she said, instinctively moving close to wrap her arms around him and press a kiss to his lips, “This is unusual” she said, referring to the back door knocking.
Jeremy had smiled upon seeing Myrcella through the glass door of the back porch and kissed her back once she’d opened it, “Well, you know me. I’m kind of unusual.” Taking her hand, he tugged on it lightly to tell her to come out onto the porch with him, “So, I wanted to do something different this year and your backyard gave me the perfect idea.” He glanced out towards the small grassy area at the edge of the porch and the sand after that then out to the ocean before turning his gaze to the tent. “Come on.”
“Perfectly so” she agreed as he took her hand and she followed him onto the porch. “You were inspired by the tent and view?” she smiled, “I can’t wait to see how” she said squeezing his hand as they entered the tent.
“You’ll see.” Leading her off the porch, Jeremy headed towards the tent, fingers laced with Myrcella’s as they walked across the grass to the entrance of the tent. Inside Jeremy had set up a picnic on the floor, plush pillows surrounding the area for them to sit on. “Happy Valentine’s Day.” He said, glancing at Myrcella to see her reaction.
When Myrcella saw what Jeremy had set up she gasped and smiled brightly, “Oh Jeremy” she breathed, “This is wonderful. You’re amazing, best boyfriend in the world” she told him, with a smile turning to stand on her tiptoes to kiss him. “Thank you, I love you”
Jeremy smiled at Myrcella’s reaction, glad that she liked it, “I thought it’d be nice to have a more intimate Valentine’s Day. I had first thought about setting it up on the beach, but then I remembered the tent and that it wasn’t really being used.” He kissed her back, arms wrapping around her waist, “I love you too.”
“This is an incredible idea” Myrcella assured him, “It’s perfect. You are perfect” she smiled as her hands stroked his back as she hugged him tightly. She felt so lucky to have him in her life.
Still smiling, Jeremy led Myrcella over to the blanket he’d set out on top of the thick, plush carpets. “I also borrowed a bottle of wine from my parents’ liquor cabinet.” Jeremy knew that no one would notice since Jenna was the only one at the house and he was pretty sure that she’d drank a bottle or two herself. Sitting down, he picked up the bottle and popped the cork then filled two wine glasses and handed one over to Myrcella.
Myrcella smiled, “You thought of everything” she said as he opened it and poured them a glass each. She took hers and sipped it, “I can’t believe you did all this” she said looking around the tent, “And without me knowing” she added.
“Well, it wouldn’t have been a very good surprise if you’d known about it, know would it?” Jeremy smiled and took a sip of his own wine. “And I wanted it to be a surprise. So, it’s a good thing you weren’t in the kitchen, looking out the window or anything.” He took another sip, “Otherwise, everything would have been ruined.” He was glad that this had gone off without a hitch.
“I did consider doing some baking earlier but decided against it so it seems luck was on our side” Myrcella said, “I’m glad, it’s a wonderful surprise” Very thoughtful too and Myrcella was fit to bursting with the love she felt for him.
Jeremy took another sip of his wine and chuckled, “I’m glad you decided not to do any baking.” He was just so happy that this had worked and for the first time since the Mark had shown up, he wasn’t thinking about the fact that he would eventually become a vampire hunter. “So, this is our second Valentine’s Day. Can you believe that?” They’d been dating for almost a year and a half and for Jeremy that was record considering his track record in the dreams.
Myrcella was too, instead she’d done some coursework and gotten ahead with her reading. It would allow her to spend more time with Jeremy in the holidays. “I know, how have you put up with me?” she teased, sipping her wine and grinning before reaching out to take his hand and lace their fingers.
“It’s been tough, but somehow I’ve managed.” Jeremy grinned and squeezed Myrcella’s hand, “No, but in all seriousness, a lot of crappy stuff has happened to me over the last year or two and you being there when I needed someone has meant a lot.” There had been quite a few times when Jeremy had been alone except for Myrcella and that meant everything to him; that she’d stick around through all the crazy stuff.
“I love you Jeremy” Myrcella said, squeezing his hand before leaning forward to press a kiss to his lips, “And I will always be there for you, whenever and whatever you need” she promised.
Jeremy smiled against her lips and leaned back a little bit to look at her, “I love you too, Myrcella. That means a lot to me.” He was glad that he would have at least one person who would always be there for him, “And I’ll always be there for you too.”
