Though Percy had been confident with his choice of how they were going to spend their evening, it didn't hurt to have to confirm that he had done well. With Marguerite, Percy tried more than he was accustomed to when it came to things like this, but she was more than worth it in his eyes, and it was worth it to see the look on her face as she looked out across the water. "Good. I'm glad."
All of the changes that had affected him lately all added up to put him here. Percy would be lying if he didn't feel like he missed some of the things he used to be, but he knew that life wasn't a static, unchanging thing and trying to hold onto the past could hurt him and the people around him. That wasn't to say that he didn't appreciate where he was now, because he did and all of this hadn't just been thrust upon him, it was a progression, a development, and it had fundamentally changed who he was.
Still feeling the kiss on his cheek, Percy glanced over at Marguerite as she toyed with her necklace. It reminded him of the one he had around his own neck, and he couldn't remember if they ever talked about them, or if it needed to be talked about. On his chain were his wedding band and his signet ring, the one he had used to seal all his letters with that scarlet pimpernel, his namesake. When he was this close to her, both of them felt warm against his chest, and he wasn't quite sure what that meant.
Shifting slightly, Percy's shoulder brushed Marguerite's as he looked out along the water where the sun was staring to set. Part of him wondered if there was something he should say, but it was rare for him to enjoy silence like he did when he was with her, reminding him that words weren't always necessary.
