Fraser was not alone. Dief was unaccustomed to wearing a leash and collar--was morally opposed to it, if Fraser understood correctly--but the leash laws in California were far more strict, even if, on the whole, the city was more dog-friendly than the Chicago of his dreams.
Benton was halfway through explaining this all to Dief for the nth time as he opened the door to the shop, the wolf prancing inside, shaking his head unhappily as Fraser followed too slowly for his taste.
"Oh for god's sake...I know you think it's uncivilized, but if I explained to people that you are actually a wolf and unaccustomed to wearing a leash and collar, they would respond with more unease, not less....Ah, here we are."
