Who: Caroline Forbes and Rebekah Mikaelson What: Catching up Where: Rebekah’s When: Recent Rating: Low Status: Complete
As usual Caroline was beyond busy. Between work, classes, and cheer she had very little time for a social life. It wasn’t easy for Caroline to make time to see all of her friends, especially the ones she didn’t see at school or work so it had definitely been way too long since she had seen Rebekah.
As soon as she finished her shift at Baxter’s she headed straight over to the Salvatore’s place, with two sparkling lattes of course. She knocked on the door waiting for the blonde Mikaelson or well Salvatore to answer. It was time for some much needed girl talk.
Rebekah heard the knock at the door as she was finishing putting some food on a plate to feed Natalia as a snack for the evening. She hadn’t been expecting anyone, so a confused look passed over her face as she started to make her way towards the front door. Once she was there she opened it and grinned at the sight of Caroline, “Hey there! I wasn’t expecting anyone to come over, but you are more welcome than one of my brothers, well some of them anyway. Come on in.” She would never turn down anyone who came over, but it was more fun to see a friend than a sibling because she saw so much of those boys.
“Your brothers aren’t all bad,” Caroline replied with a laugh as she entered the house. “But then I don’t really see most of them. Oops?” Her time was preoccupied with a certain Mikaelson. Other than Nik, Rebekah was the only one she was really close too. She talked to the rest here and there, but never really hung out with any of them. “Brought you a treat from work,” she added handing over one of the lattes while simultaneously taking a sip from the other.
“Oh my gosh, you’re the best,” Rebekah declared as she took the coffee from her before closing the door, “And they can be alright. I just have too many of them. My place is very popular sometimes. So, what brings you by?” Rebekah hoped it was a happy visit and not something that was an upsetting subject. But Caroline wouldn’t be bringing lattes if it was a serious discussion. She lead the way towards the kitchen so they could sit and drink.
“Good point,” she agreed following Rebekah to the kitchen table. “I don’t know how you survived being the only girl growing up with all those brothers,” it truly did amaze Caroline sometimes. She had no clue what it was like to grow up with siblings. “I just felt like I haven’t seen you in ages. Life is so busy,” she sighed dramatically taking a seat. “And Natalia, I can’t even remember the last time I saw my favorite two year old.”
"I tortured those poor boys. They catered to my every whim and I took advantage of that. I was definitely, and still am, the favorite. Henrik is a very close second for being the baby," Rebekah explained with a laugh, "and it has been forever! Natalia is taking a nap right now, but if you are here long enough you two can hang out. So, what's new?"
“How nice of you,” Caroline replied with a laugh. “Though I probably would have done the same,” she couldn’t really blame Rebekah for taking advantage. “Well I guess you are just going to be stuck with me for awhile then. No way can I stop by and not see Nat,” she teased before taking a sip of her latte. “Not much really. Just the usual. School. Work. Cheer.” She paused not sure if Nik had mentioned anything about the two of them, knowing him probably not, but Caroline didn’t want to keep it from Rebekah. “I’m also kind of seeing your brother. Nik,” she clarified since Rebekah had a few, though she was pretty sure she would know which one.
“Weren’t you already seeing him? I mean, you two aren’t really good at keeping secrets or anything,” Rebekah raised an eyebrow at Caroline’s comment and set her cup down, “Or does this mean it’s an actual official relationship with titles and such? Because if so, then I’m super duper excited. I never expected Nik to date someone as cheerful and fun as you. He can be a slight downer sometimes. You’ll be good for him.”
“Really? I never noticed,” Caroline teased, but he had gotten slightly more cheerful since she had been around. There had even been a few occasions where he was the one pointing out the bright side to her. “But yeah I don’t know, I guess he’s my boyfriend,” she admitted sheepishly, a slight blush creeping over her cheeks.
“Guess? Honey, stop it. He is totally your boyfriend and you’re being silly if you’re not going to just admit it. Embrace the title and then I can totally make fun of him about this. But in a good way! I’m so happy you two are together,” She knew what went on in the dreams and it didn’t surprise her that this happened in this world because the two of them needed to get together. She was the light to Klaus’ darkness.
“Okay okay! Fine he is,” she laughed holding her hands up defensively. “But thanks, I’m glad you are happy about it. It would be super awkward if you like hated me or something.” Like in the dreams. “Although when he’s a dick I totally expect you to take my side.” She was kidding… mostly.
“Why would I hate you? Pretty sure you haven’t done anything to me here to cause me to hate you. And I think I will more than likely take your side if he’s being a dick. He can be so unreasonable sometimes, so don’t worry,” Rebekah teased with a grin as she took another sip of her drink, “But I am seriously excited about this and I hope that you two are so happy together.”
“I don’t think I have either,” she agreed a smile on her face. “Sucks we don’t get along in the dreams, but I’m really glad it’s not that way here.” She was glad a lot of things were different here than over in Mystic Falls. “How far are you in them by the way?” she didn’t want to give spoilers, but she was kind of curious about what the hell was going on with Klaus and the Mikaelsons once they left Mystic Falls. Caroline couldn’t help but laugh at Rebekah’s next comment. “I think you might be more excited about it then me,” she half joked taking another sip.
“I’m a right bitch in the dreams. Totally spoiled and horrible, so I’m not surprised you hate me in the dreams. I kind of hate myself sometimes. This world is a much better and we haven’t all gone completely crazy,” Rebekah explained to Caroline and honestly didn’t mind that people hated the dream version of her. She was not overly fond of how her dream self acted, but she understood why she did, “Oh I’m very far. Nik, Elijah, and I have all moved away to New Orleans apparently. And are you serious? I’m more excited about this relationship than you are? Something is terribly wrong! Nik must not be doing his boyfriendly duties very well.”
“I would be a bitch too if my brother kept locking me away in a coffin,” Caroline tried not to hold deams against people, it was when they defended the fucked up things they did that she got pissed off. They all did some pretty messed up things in the dreams. “He’s doing fine, I think. Kind of my first boyfriend so not really like I have much to compare it to. Unless you count my dream boyfriends,” she shrugged finishing off her latte. “Oh yeah I saw when you guys took off. Right after graduation. How’s that?”
“Wait, wait. You haven’t had a boyfriend before now? How is that even possible? You’re awesome,” Rebekah was honestly surprised by that comment. Caroline had quite a few dream boyfriends and she assumed the same in this world. She was too pretty and kind to have been left boyfriendless this entire time. Nik better not mess things up or Rebekah would kick his ass for hurting her, “And yeah, it’s alright. We used to live there before Mystic Falls and it’s strange being back there.”
“Nope,” she shook her head. “I never really wanted the whole relationship thing before. It just seemed like too much trouble,” she shrugged. “I kind of always just did the whole no strings thing, but your brother can be… persuasive.” That was probably enough talk about her new relationship though. Caroline didn’t want to turn into one of those girls that only talked about her boyfriend. “Thanks though, you’re pretty awesome too,” she added with a genuine smile. “I bet. It’s kind of weird having you all being gone. I don’t think Mystic Falls will ever be the same.”
“Ahhhh,” She understood now. The whole no strings attached was probably a good way to get through high school and not get your heart broken. Unfortunately Rebekah didn’t believe in that policy when she had been growing up and quite a few boys had their noses broken from messing with her. And then she chuckled at the comment about Mystic Falls never being the same, “I think Mystic Falls is much better off without us.”
“I don’t know about that. We have dealt with some pretty bad guys since you guys left. Would have been nice to have some original vampires backing us up. I think we kind of grew on you guys. Enough so you aren’t always trying to kill us anymore at least.” Though maybe dream Rebekah would still like to kill dream her but there were other people in that world Rebekah would protect.
“Well, I can safely say I’m glad to be out of that drama. New Orleans has it’s own drama, but it’s kind of nice to be in a new place,” and it didn’t hurt that she was discovering new things about her brothers at the same time. It was a lot of fun to be in New Orleans. She was about to say something more when she heard noise over the baby monitor, “Oh! She must be up. Lemme go check on her and then we can have some quality girl time with Frozen.”
“Told you I would stay till she woke up,” Caroline replied getting up to throw away her empty cup. An afternoon with Rebekah and Natalia sounded pretty good to her, and she wouldn’t even mind seeing Frozen for the hundredth time.
