While Helena hadn't personally experienced the darkness of humanity, she'd unearthed remains of those who suffered some of the worst atrocities of it to know what could happen. It was at this moment that Helena recalled one makeshift grave she'd unearthed of a person who had been burned. Funny the connections the human mind made in such times. Helena was relieved that no one would end up like that body had today.
She did notice how Cora went rigid when Christina hugged her. She wouldn't call attention to it, but it was noted for later. While it could have just been from the stress of the situation, Helena was guessing it wasn't. Either way, it wasn't her business to ask about it when they were perfect strangers.
"Cora, thank you. I'm Helena," she introduced. First names were important. And even without a last name, Helena knew what Cora looked like so if she couldn't find her any other way, there was the possibility of bumping into her on the street again in the future.
However, any further conversation they might have had was interrupted as fire fighters and paramedics flooded the scene. Taking Christina's hand in hers so as to not lose her yet again in the chaos of the rescuers, Helena gave Cora a polite smile before paramedics corralled them. After getting an oxygen mask put on her, Helena was insisting they treat Christina first despite the fact she was bleeding. It was only once they were in the ambulance and on the way to the hospital that she let them do a preliminary examination of the cut. She'd need stitches, but Helena barely heard anything the paramedic said. She was too focused on Christina who was clinging to her middle as much as possible when the paramedics didn't need to ask her to let go momentarily.
