Staying there would have been insane. And so getting out was the important thing. Cora was just relieved that they found the girl's mother. Fires were scary enough, losing a parent in it or thinking so? That just made them all the worse. Cora could still feel that pain inside of her. The loss of her family. Derek, Laura and Peter had survived the fire in the dreams yet Cora hadn't realized that for six years and after all that time...
Well. She was just reliever that Christina wouldn't have to go through that.
Getting outside, Cora just stepped away from all the people. Too many of them, too much panic. Now that she was outside, she could feel the barely compressed panic from inside trying to bubble over and she doubled over, hands on her legs as she struggled to regain a semblance of control. She had survived. Again. That was important. That was what she needed to hold onto. No one had died. Gasping for breath which led to coughing.
Her entire body was shaking, she was pale and felt as if she had seen a ghost. Soot was on her, her shirt was ruined and the pain in her arm from falling was finally registering. God, would it never end?
