Christina remained clinging to Cora until Helena was close to them. Helena knelt down and Christina flung herself into her mother's arms. Well, arm more like given Helena was letting her injured one dangle. The other one, however, wrapped tightly around her daughter who proceeded to bury her face in her shoulder and started to cry.
"It's alright, love, I'm here." But they couldn't stay there. They needed to get outside and get away from the fire. Helena coughed again, then she clenched her teeth and used her injured arm to help pick Christina up. Pain seared through her and it was a bad idea, but she was getting her daughter out of there.
Getting into the flow of people getting out, Helena carried her daughter out to safety. She moved away from the building a bit and knelt down, letting her injured arm drop with blood running down it. She closed her eyes and just reveled in the fact that she had her daughter safely in her arms again. She opened her eyes again and looked up to see where the woman who had brought her out was. But she needed a moment because her lungs were protesting all the smoke she'd inhaled while being inside the building, and she devolved into a coughing fit. Christina just stayed attached to her mother, refusing to pull back at all, even as Helena coughed.
But at least now the fire fighters were getting on the scene, helping the rest of the people out while also dousing the flames with their hoses. The paramedics wouldn't be that far behind.
