Who: Myrcella and Jeremy
What: Dreams and marks
Where: Myrcella’s home
When: Mid January
Warnings: Low/Dreams
Status: Complete
Since their text discussion about Jeremy’s possible destiny as a hunter Myrcella had been worried about him. She knew the dreams affected him a lot, and while things had been easier since he had been able to see his parents there were new concerns making themselves known.
So she’d suggested he come spend the night and just try and relax with her, maybe talk things through since that sometimes helped.
When Myrcella had suggested he come stay at her place for the night, Jeremy hadn’t argued one bit. Sure, they weren’t completely alone anymore since Irisa had moved in with Myrcella, but it wasn’t as if Irisa was a normal person. No, she had dreams as well, so if she happened to overhear anything about his dreams, he didn’t mind in the least. It wasn’t like his dreams were a secret after all.
For the moment, Jeremy was laying on Myrcella’s bed, sleeping fitfully as he dreamt. Like most of the his dreams, this one wasn’t a good one and he was soon sitting up quickly, eye wide as he gasped for air, his hand going to his throat where Elena had stabbed him, in the dream. Heart pounding against his ribs, it took him a moment to realize that he was in Myrcella’s bedroom and not the Gilbert’s living room where he’d woken up, after coming back to life, in the dreams.
Irisa understood all about the dreams and honestly she was the best friend Myrcella could ask for who didn’t mind that Myrcella’s boyfriend came over a lot in fact she was very supportive of it and got along with Jeremy well too.
Myrcella awoke to Jeremy’s shifting in a dream, she knew not to wake him in case she startled him so she lay there until he woke himself. “Hey” she said softly, reaching up to lay her hand on his arm, “You okay?” she asked him.
Jeremy brought a hand up to his chest, feeling his heart pound against his ribs, “Yeah. Sorry….did I wake you up?” Jeremy’s other hand was still on his neck, part of him expecting to find blood there. Dying in the dreams and coming back was always disconcerting.
“It’s okay” Myrcella said, rubbing her boyfriends arm, “More dreams?” she asked in concern, knowing how awful they could be for him.
Jeremy nodded, finally lowering both hands to rest on the blanket, “Yeah. I….Elena accidently stabbed me in the neck.” He didn’t fully understand what was going on with her in the dream, but it had something to do with her killing Connor and him being a Hunter or her first kill. He wasn’t really sure, “I died, but since she was a vampire and I had the ring, I came back.”
“Oh my god Jeremy” Myrcella said, scooting closer and laying her hands on his neck, checking he was okay. “I’m so glad you’re okay. How on earth did she accidentally stab you?”
“It had something to do with killer the other hunter, Connor. It was making her see things. It was the middle of the night and she thought I was him.” Jeremy ran a hand through his hair as Myrcella checked his neck. Once she was done, he leaned over to turn on the lamp beside her bed, allowing a moment or two for his eyes to adjust to the sudden light, “I don’t really underst….” Jeremy let his sentence hang as he stared at the back of his hand as he lowered it. “Shit.”
On the back of his hand, just like in the dreams, was The Hunter’s Mark. “Can you see this?” He held up his hand, knowing that there was a chance that Myrcella wasn’t going to be able to see the mark since in the dreams only Hunters or potential Hunters could see it.
“Oh, a hallucination” she said in understanding, well that made sense or more sense than Elena simply attacking without reason. When the light turned on Myrcella was watching Jeremy closely and only when he exclaimed did she pull her gaze from his face.
“Yes of course I can” Myrcella nodded, “Is it from the dreams? The mark you mentioned before?”
For a moment Jeremy simply stared at Myrcella, part of him wondering if he was still dreaming, “You can? Seriously?” He turned his hand to stare at the mark before turning his gaze back on Myrcella, “In the dreams only other Hunters or potential ones can see it.” He doubted that Myrcella was a potential Hunter, considering they had very different dreams, “It must be different here.”
Myrcella nodded, “Yes, I can” she confirmed running her finger down the side of the mark, “I can’t explain that. Maybe it means if I was in your dreams I’d have the potential?” She couldn’t really see herself as a hunter in any world, but then she doubted Jeremy had either before the dreams.
“You wouldn’t want that. Being a Hunter is not good.” Jeremy knew what the Mark meant; it was a map to the supposed vampire cure in the dreams. Klaus had had him compelled to forget all about that part of being a Hunter, but he knew from other times that compulsion didn’t carry over into the real world the same way it worked in the dreams, “This is going to suck big time.” He watched as she traced the Mark with her finger.
Lifting his hand she pressed a kiss to the mark, “Don’t worry. Whatever happens we’ll face it together” she promised, “I’ll do whatever I can to help you. Maybe it’ll just be the mark and the about the compulsion thing not working here.instinct to kill vampires won’t come through” she suggested, after all she knew he’d told her
Jeremy couldn’t help but smile as Myrcella kissed the back of his hand. In the dreams everyone would have been so worried about what was going to happen now and while he was sure that Myrcella was worried, she was the most supportive at the same time. “Now the question is, do I tell Elena about the dream or wait until she eventually has it.” He knew how traumatic it was to dream about dying and he was sure it’d be hard for his sister to dream about accidently killing him.
Myrcella was ridiculously worried but it wouldn’t help Jeremy to show that so instead she would focus on supporting him and giving him as much reassurance as she could. He was the most important person in her life and she would do anything for him. “It might help her if she knows that you’ll be okay, it might upset her a little less than if she was unprepared”
Jeremy nodded, “I know what you mean. There’s just so much she hasn’t dreamt yet and it’s all going to be overwhelming for her no matter what.” Elena was so far behind and Jeremy couldn’t figure out why some people had dreams so quickly and some took forever. “But you’re right. I should probably tell her.” Not for the first time, Jeremy was glad that he’d had a dream like this while with Myrcella, because it would have been so much more difficult to talk about over texts or even the phone, “Thank you.”
Myrcella knew it must be very frustrating to be so far ahead in his dreams compared to his sister, but then at least she was dreaming the same dreams. As supportive as Myrcella could be she knew that she couldn’t entirely understand since hers were so difference. “You should” she agreed softly, wrapping her arms around him and leaning her head against his, “You’re welcome. I love you”
Jeremy sat there for a few moments, head against Myrcella’s before he moved back a little, his hand coming up to brush his girlfriend’s hair away from her face, “I love you too.” He pressed a kiss to her lips. “We should try to get back to sleep.” Jeremy wasn’t sure how much sleep he’d get for the rest of the night, but he had to try. He couldn’t start staying up just to try and prevent the dreams.
Myrcella returned the kiss and nodded in agreement, “You’re right, we should” she said encouraging him to lay down against her, his head on her chest and her arms around him. “Just remember I’m here if you need me” she said softly, her fingers carding through his hair.
With his head resting against Myrcella’s chest, he listened to the steady thumping of her heart, dark eyes closing as he did. “I know. Thank you.” As anxious as Jeremy was, the combined beating of Myrcella’s heart and her fingers through his hair began to lull him back to sleep.
