While Alison could certainly get someone to go out and get new shoes for her that wasn’t really something she liked to do. Shopping was so much fun and Alison made sure that she never acted too much like a spoiled brat and did things for herself. Which was why she was currently in front of Shoegasm and eyeing the beautiful shoes in the store window. Alright, not just eyeing - totally lusting after them. With new shoes came the reason to go find a great outfit to go with it and Alison couldn’t resist any longer and pushed opened the doors.
And the inside of the store was far better than the window displays and they were certainly living up to their amusing name. Her eyes were wide as she tried to take in everything and instantly started to wander towards the heels. So many choices and colors and she couldn’t wait to figure out which one would be the newest addition to her wardrobe.
Rachel was in the back room, collecting up some shoes to replace some of the ones in the front window. She had a box with some amazing knee-high boots, and another with some killer fuck-me-heels in them. Perfect for the window display. She came into the large part of the store and broke into a smile at the sight of a customer. The cashier behind the counter was helping someone, so Rach headed in the direction of the newcomer. “Hi there! Welcome to Shoegasm.”
“Thank you. I haven’t been in here before, but I must say you’ve got a great selection. I may have a Shoegasm by the time I’m done here,” Alright so maybe she was going to buy more than one pair of shoes because now that she was in the store she probably wouldn’t be stopped. They were just so beautiful, “I’m not quite sure what I want, but I’m thinking heels more than likely.”
“Thanks! You know, a lot of people say just that.” Rach was grinning brightly. She did a lot of the ordering and stocking, and helped a lot when it came to the style of the place. “Ah, I can definitely help you there! Come on over and take a look at some of our newer arrivals.” She turned to lead the way over to a wall where they had high heels on display.
“I love these black ones. With the bows on the heels.” Rach said, motioning to them once she’d set down the boxes she was carrying.
“Well, it’s a great name choice, for sure,” Alison pointed out with a soft laugh as she went to follow the woman towards the wall and looked at the shoes she pointed out. They were quite cute and she could always use new black heels, “Oh! Those are cute. The bows are the best part of it. I should probably get some other colored heels as well, but black is always nice to have.”
“Can’t go wrong with black,” Rach said, beaming brightly. She loved helping people find shoes. It was a wonderful profession, to help people find things that made them so happy. “What other colors were you looking for? Any other styles? I’d love to help you find the perfect pair. Or pairs.”
“I’m pretty much open to anything. I like buying shoes first and then trying to figure out what kind of outfit they go with. Maybe something more colorful,” She was noticing that neon was making a comeback and that wasn’t a terrible thing to have shoes in, could be fun, right? “Would you mind showing me some other ones that you like? May spark some ideas.”
“Well…” Rachel broke into a bright smile. “I love purple.” She turned to lead the way over to some amazing boots--knee high, bright purple, with some wicked lacing. Definitely a style choice. These boots were for show, not for casual wear. Rach gave a gentle sigh as she picked one up, gingerly. “Aren’t they just… dreamy?”
“Oh wow,” Alison let out a soft breath as she looked at the boots. Not her color, but the lacing was astounding. She reached out to gently run her fingers along the booths and chuckled, “Do you have anything with this kind of lacing in a different color? No offense to purple, but it may be hard for me to find something to put it together with. But I’m sure it’d look brilliant on you.”
“What color are you looking for?” Rachel asked. “Pink? Red? Silver? Green?” She had some boots in each of those colors, though they may not have been as lovely as the purple ones were, for sure. “Right over here there’s an awesome pair in brown.” Kind of boring, but good for a brown outfit maybe.
“Hmm…” Alison wasn’t quite sure what color she wanted to do. All of them sounded appealing in their own right, but somewhat hard to place into an outfit. Red, silver, and brown were probably the most likely candidates and brown did sound kind of boring for such a wonderful pair of boots, “Maybe silver?” That reminded her a lot of her costume in her dreams, maybe it would work for that.
“Silver’s great. You can do so much with it.” Best part about silver was how well it went with purple. Anyway. Rach moved over to a pair of killer silver boots, obviously from a similar line (same designer) as the purple ones. “What do you think of these?”
“Oh these are fantastic,” Alison picked one of the boots up and admired it. Yeah, she hadn’t been really thinking about boots when she came in, but she needed these, “Yeah, I’m going to definitely need these as well. I’m about a size 7 if you have any in stock.”
“I’ll be right back.” Rach was tickled pink. She didn’t normally deal with customers one-on-one, she spent most of her time ordering, researching, running numbers and sales. But this was a good sale! And she’d made it!
Rachel came out of the back room a minute later carrying a large box. She pulled the boots out and helped lace them so her customer could try them on.
“Oh man, they’re gorgeous,” she commented as she sat down on the bench so she could try the boots on. With only one on she stood up and admired how they looked in the mirror. They fit quite well and she could just imagine some of the outfit possibilities, “Oh yeah, I am definitely going to need these. Hm, wonder if I should get anything else.” It was kind of nice to have the money to spend on things like this.
Rachel grinned brightly when she saw the boots slip onto her customer. “They’re beautiful on you, I might add. Some people can’t pull off this look. But you’ve got it, Sister.” Okay, that may have come out a little more awkward than she’d meant. Rachel laughed. “What else are you in the mood for? I’ve got some pretty amazing sandals. It’s not quite sandal season, but we do live in Orange County. When it’s not snowing, it’s sandal season.”
Thankfully Alison didn’t think it was awkward and she gave a laugh in reply and then sat back down so she could take the boot off, “And sandals...hmm…something cute and strappy might be nice. I’m so open to suggestion it’s not even funny. I think I’ve worn my other pair down to the ground, so that might be a wise thing to buy.”
“Well, sandals come in either bright, or white,” Rach said, boxing up the boots and passing them off to the cashier. They would be held behind the counter until the customer was ready to make her purchases. “I love purple, but it’s not a summer color this year. So I’m stuck wearing mine from last year. They’ve got more silver, but these white ones are just to die for.” They were strappy and adorable. Rachel pulled one off the display and held it out.
“I feel like when I wear white sandals I completely destroy them with dirt and such, but I do love the look of them. White goes with basically any kind of beachy outfit,” she rambled for a moment as she followed behind Rachel and then saw the sandals, “Damn, they’re super cute. You need to stop being so good at your job or I’m going to go bankrupt buying all these shoes.”
Rachel laughed. “I know what you mean. I think brown or tan works much better than white, but... well, fashion designers seem to think we don’t actually wear the things. We just pose for photos on the beach with our hair tousled just so.” She held up the shoe. “Size seven?”
“Yes, size seven. And you know, fashion designers are quite weird when it comes to practicality. I’ve worn some outrageously high heels and almost killed myself just because a designer thought they were the new best thing. So annoying,” Alison pointed out with a small chuckle. She hated fashion shoots that involved crazy clothing and not something she would normally wear.
Rachel chuckled. “Whenever I design things, I make sure that they're both practical and fabulous!” She popped into the back room and came out a minute later with the sandals in the right size. “Here we go.”
“You design things? You’ll have to let me see some of your stuff. I could wear some of it if you wanted me to,” She knew she sounded stupid not explaining why it would matter if she wore her designs, but she tended to forget she was famous until much later in conversations, “and these are great. I should really stop at three pairs, right?”
“Oh, here!” Rachel pulled a business card out of her pocket and held it out to the other, then set about pulling the new shoes out of the box so that she could try them on. “That’s me, Rarity Fashions. I’ve got an Etsy shop, everything I do is haute couture.”
“Awesome, thank you so much. I’ll have to check out your stuff,” she wasn’t sure if she should say who she was just in case the girl had no idea, but she also didn’t have business cards on hand. Should she get some of those? Tossing those thoughts away she started to put on the shoes to see how they looked, “Do you make gowns for award shows or anything like that?”
“Oh, yes. I can make just about anything.” Rachel said, smiling brightly. The way she was talking made Rachel wonder if this was someone famous. She wasn’t sure off the top of her head, and didn’t want to be rude, so she didn’t ask. “I love making gowns. The fancier the better.”
“Perfect. I have something going on in February that I may enlist your services for,” She commented with a grin as she looked down at her feet, “And alright, I’m going to take these too, but I need to stop. At least for now. I gotta find outfits to go with these first. Then maybe I’ll let myself come back. You’ve been awesome, by the way.”
“Wonderful!” Rachel said, beaming. She gave a laugh, and then nodded. “All right. That sounds good to me. Aww, thank you.” She started to box up the sandals. “It’s been my pleasure. Truly. And you call or email or whatever to let me know about February. Whenever you’re ready the girl at the register can ring you up. I should get back to my window display.” She held out the box of sandals for the cashier, then grinned once more to her customer. “I hope you have a wonderful day.”
“I will definitely contact you. Thank you so, so much with everything,” Alison shook the woman’s hand and was almost tempted to hug her, but she resisted. Instead she gave her a bright smile before going up to the register with her and then going into her wallet to grab her credit card, “And I hope you have a wonderful day as well.” After paying she made sure to slip some extra money to the cashier to give to Rachel as a thank you and then said goodbye as she left.
