Peter felt out of place. He really hadn't made many friends in L.A. and now he wasn't sure he even wanted to try. His Uncle was gone, the one person who had loved him unconditionally was gone. Sure his aunt did also, but he connected with the man on another level. Peter had only really reached out to Gwen and Harry, but right now he didn't want to talk to either of them much. He only wanted to finish the web shooters he'd started crafting. The first ones were a bust, and the second ones sent him flying across the room when they snapped. His room was a mess now, it was last priority though. He hadn't really left his apartment in nearly a week since he'd returned home to L.A.
He tried talking on the internet, but he felt even more strange there. He just didn't connect with them the way he wanted to, and he didn't have the energy to put into fixing it. Everything was confusing, his mind was working on ways to decompartmentalize it all but it wasn't working. Instead of reaching out to the world Peter put in his headphones to block it out. He'd have just turned up the music on his speakers, but when he did that the downstairs neighbor began poking his floor with a broom and telling him to shut up. This was the lesser evil. Total isolation until the project was complete, total noise canceling headphones. They were the best investiment he'd made since coming to L.A.
I think I know what you're feeling right now Peter..
No. No Uncle Ben, you really didn't know how he felt. It felt like his heart had been ripped out of his chest, and stepped on. To top it off, Harry was acting odd. But again, Peter had little energy to deal with it. He was narrow minded and intent on finishing this project. He tested the strength of a third nearly invisible wire, and this time it stuck. Nothing snapped, nothing fought against the mechanism he designed everything just stayed in place.
"Bingo." He grinned as it vibrated to his touch, and finally he looked up at his mess of a room. Nope. Still didn't care. His eyes shifted over toward the strange looking suit he'd gotten from the dreams. He hadn't really tested it out just yet, but hey no time like the present for Spider-Man to make his debut. Crime rate was at an all time high, it was all perfect.
Slipping into the red and blue outfit, Peter tested it out. He bounced from one foot to the other until the kevlar fell in the right places. "This is gonna be fun." Crouching in the window of his apartment, he attached the web shooter devices to his wrists and disappeared into the night. He was going to be smarter about this than his dream counterpart. Nobody would see his face, nobody would know it was him beyond those of the network. He had this all thought out. So he thought.
