Some days it was easier to keep everything buried, the days when she had a bunch of other things to think about. Not worry about as she was with John, but just think. Lesson plans to work on, papers to grade, unpacking. Anything really to keep her mind on anything but what she was trying to avoid, trying to keep from being real by never actually talking about it. Then again, she tended to drop her defenses around Troy.
"He has no say. I'm making him get an MRI. He may not be dumb, but his need to keep people from worrying could lead to something so..." So she basically pouted until John relented. Not that she was any better. Wasn't part of her reason for not saying anything to keep her family from worrying? It was definitely an integral reason for it beyond the fact that saying something out loud made it real and couldn't be taken back after it was said.
And then switching to teaching. A good distraction. True it had only been a couple of weeks of teaching, but Clara was picking up on her students and how it would be.
"No, generally not. Though since I'm teaching AP, I have the students more interested in the class even if it's just to get credit for university. So far they seem to be doing well. Readjusting to, papers to write. They seem interested in the material though. The emphasis on standardised testing will take getting used to since the schools get their funding from how well the students do. Unnecessary stress, really."
