"Really, though, it is rather brilliant. Just brilliant. Anyway, as a child I had a friend, can't remember his name. In fact, I distinctly remember... never learning any names, never being aware of names, but he was a young boy to, probably my age. At some point, don't know when, we were recruited, or pulled into not really sure, some sort of academy. To understand what it meant to be a Time Lord; which, apparently, is what we were called. Gallifreyan by some, but also the Time Lords. Apparently they were the rulers of the planet, and a mighty civilization that lasted tens of millions of years..."
Shaking his head, he laughed as he took a sip, "It's all really strange, and a bit absurd, but I do think it makes for a fun story. So, you enter this academy, this Time Lord Academy, at the age of 8. But see, these Time Lords, they live for tens of thousands of years, and then even then? They regenerate, thirteen times I think I heard. So imagine that life cycle, tens of thousands of years on each one, or maybe hundreds. All I know is that you enter at the age of 8, and you spend centuries learning mathematics, science, time, and space. They all look distinctly human, but they have two hearts. Two, as if that would even be physiologically necessary."
