When: Mid December
Rating: Low, probably innuendo knowing them

Vala pulled up outside the bar and parked. She was lucky there was a space available, but she didn’t want to be walking too far in this weather. Especially in these heels. A little Christmas present to herself, because after all, who didn’t love Louboutin? Grabbing her bag from the passenger seat, she quickly got out of the car, locked it and hurried into the bar to meet up with her best friend.
Faye had worried when the weather had been bad that it would put people off going out but the bar had been as busy as ever, if not more so and she was glad for it. She was doing a quick stock update when Vala arrived and she hurried over to meet her friend, “Hello darling” she said as she hugged her, “Bloody horrid weather, but oh I do love those shoes”
“It’s horrible. I never knew it could snow so much in the OC!” Vala said as she returned the hug. Stepping back, she modelled her shoes with a pleased grin. “They’re beautiful, aren’t they? I know it probably wasn’t the most sensible choice of footwear, but I couldn’t resist,” she shrugged before reaching into her bag to pull out a wrapped gift box to hand to Vala. “Happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule or whatever you celebrate, just...be happy!” Vala grinned with a little shrug. She hoped her friend would be happy with her gift.
“Who cares about sensible with shoes like that” Faye smiled and laughed at Vala’s politically correct Christmas wishes, “Thank you darling, I have your gift out the back” she said taking the box from her and pulling her to the office. “Oh they’re beautiful, she said, as they sat and she opened the box. “Thank you so much Vala” Then she handed over the wrapped gift for her friend.
“You’re welcome, I just figured that while I was in the shop I’d get you a pair too,” Vala shrugged and accepted her gift, tearing off the wrapping paper excitedly. Pulling out the note and the teddy, a slow grin covered her face. “Are you trying to tell me something?” she joked, looking up at Faye slyly.
Faye was very grateful and would very much enjoy wearing the incredible new shoes. “Just offering a little helping hand should you need it, after all what better way to see the New Year in” she winked.
Vala threw her head back and laughed at that. She and Faye were scarily on the same level. "I like the way you think, thank you sweetie," she grinned, leaning into hug her again.
“You are very welcome and I expect to hear a good report after you use it” she winked after hugging her back, “So, I believe we’re going to plan the best New Year’s party ever?” she said, getting them on track.
“Even if it’s just a good report of the teddy?” Vala teased, giving Faye a quick wink. “Best New Year’s party ever, of course. Only the best for my best friend!” Vala grinned, pulling out a folder from her bag and laying it on the desk. “Have you had an ideas about what you’d like?” she asked.
“Even then” Faye smirked, “Honestly? No, I just want everybody to have a great time. Beyond that I’ve thought of nothing. I’ve been more focused on sorting cover so I can visit with Glimmer and John”
“Fair enough, when are you going?” Vala asked opening up her folder and grabbing a pen. “Alright then, so do you want a theme? A particular set of colours?” she asked.
“A couple of days before Christmas then I’m back on 29th” Faye said, “Maybe a winter wonderland kind of thing? Since we have the snow and all that. So blues, whites, creams”
“That’ll be nice, how are they doing now?” Vala asked, flicking through some of her folder to find the pages which held some of her theme ideas. “Something like <ahref="http://www.whitebowevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/imgres2.jpeg">this</a>? Without all the chairs obviously,” she waved her hand over the picture as she turned it so Faye could see it better. “Or this? We can always lighten them up with some of the lights from the club,” she suggested.
“They’re wonderful. In fact I think either marriage or a new arrival might be on the cards soon” Faye said rather excitedly, she was beyond happy that her little sister was so happy. “Oh yes, exactly that. Like an ice palace kind of effect. Though warmer obviously” she grinned.
"Marriage? Seriously? My god, she's grown up so fast!" Vala shook her head. "Ice palace. That I can do," she smiled proudly. "It's one of my favourite type of designs. It's a real challenge to come up with new and exciting ideas. Are you planning on having any themed drinks at the bar?"
“I know” Faye said, “But they’re so happy. And settled too. It’s wonderful to see” she smiled, “Wonderful. Thanks so much for helping me out. I’ll definitely have themed drinks, snow balls, icicles, snowman, that kind of thing”
“Aww, that’s so sweet. Guess I’ll have to start planning a baby shower and bachelorette party. What’s her favourite colour?” Vala grinned. “Excellent, what about food? Do you plan on having any nibbles for the bar? I could see if that lovely girl down at Baxter’s Bakery might be able to do some bits for us?”
“Anything but pink” Faye laughed in reply. “Oh yes that would be great. They do always do the best little buffets” she nodded, “I think that’s a great idea”
“Anything but pink I can do with pleasure,” Vala grinned in response. She got fed up of doing pink parties for baby girls and bachelorette parties after a while. “Ok, I’ll speak to them tomorrow. Any favourites you’d like me to ask for?” she asked, writing things down in her planner.
“Anything they can do will be great” Faye said, “I love all their baked goods” she grinned, “Oh but if they could do themed cookies that might be fun” she thought suddenly.
“Ok, themed cookies...let me think about that one and I’ll see what I can sort out,” Vala wrote down, already thinking of the possibilities. “And music? Are you going to use your regular dj or do you want something a bit different?”
“Thanks” Faye said, “I think I’ll use my usual guy, he’s pretty good. If I tell him the theme I’m sure he’ll work it out”
“Not a problem, just gotta cover all the bases,” Vala checked it off her list. “What about ticket price? Will you be charging on the door?”
Faye nodded, “There will be a cover charge, slightly higher to cover the buffet and everything but that’s kind of expected on New Years Eve”
“Excellent, I think that’s everything, don’t you?” Vala bit her lip as she gave a quick run over her notes. “Is there anything else you want for this party? Do you need any extra staff or anything?” she asked.
“I think we’re sorted” Faye agreed, “Maybe a couple, I’d like to give my regular staff the night off as a thank you” she informed Vala.
“That would be really nice. I’d offer, but I’ve got a couple of other parties I need to be dropping in on throughout the night. Do you want me to try and source them or have you got some people in mind?” Vala asked.
“As if I would ask you to work. I plan on doing an hour or so but then enjoying the night myself” Faye said, “I have a few in mind, I’ll try them later and if I run into any problems I’ll let you know and we can brainstorm together”
“No problemo,” Vala smiled. “Have you got anyone to enjoy the New Year with?” she teased with a wink as she put her note pad and folders away.
“Not yet but I have no doubt that I’ll find someone to kiss come midnight and more if I’m lucky” she grinned.
“You always have been ambitious,” Vala grinned knowingly.
