Happily accepting the wine with a smile of admiration as he looked over the bottle, John was well on his way to reading every last bit of provided information on its label before being distracted by the offered gifts. Surprised by the added gesture, he gladly accepted the parcel appreciatively.
"Look at that, was expecting only a cousin and got more than I bargained for!" He said with a laugh, then glanced over his shoulder. No sign of Rose yet. "Oh, she's here. Getting ready. She's a fondness for marathon naps whether she's ill or not."
Welcoming him gratefully in, he became distracted by his present, eager to open it. John did love getting gifts, though he wouldn't admit to it. Making haste to situate the gift and the bottle of wine for the time being, he returned to his cousin's side with a small--very small box of his own. Couldn't very well have him over for dinner without something else in the spirit of the passed holiday to give him, could he? Inside he'd find a Christmas-themed bowtie, one John hadn't been able to resist acquiring.
"Thank you, and happy belated Christmas to you!"
Rose didn't leave them hanging long, though he was happy to catch up with Troy in the time allotted. When she emerged, he flashed Rose the widest of smiles. Somehow there were always hearts in his eyes whenever he looked at his flatmate, and it never seemed to occur to him otherwise.
"Well, I'll leave you two to it for a moment, got to check on the roast. Do hope you don't mind roast, Troy. I make no promises of it being a successful roast, but perhaps some lingering holiday cheer will bring me luck!"
Patting Rose on the shoulder as he exited the room temporarily, pausing briefly only to try and see where their newest feline housemate might be.
